Le Sirenuse: dinner at La Sponda, Positano
La Sponda in Positano is the restaurant of Le Sirenuse, open for dinner every night under hundreds of hanging candles, facing the village’s houses and its church dome. Executive chef Gennaro Russo runs the kitchen, and he has cooked with fresh, local, seasonal produce since he began cooking at home in Somma Vesuviana.

The choice, in short
Why choose Le Sirenuse
Dinner outdoors: as soon as the weather allows, it moves from the dining room to the panoramic terrace, with Franco and Andrea on guitar and mandolin.
Raw seafoodGennaro Russo’s cooking
For Gennaro Russo the hard part is keeping it simple: he starts from the land’s produce and its culture, and pares them back to the essentials.1
Tradizione brings braised baby octopus with escarole, olives and capers, elicoidali alla genovese with beef ragù, black truffle and salted sheep’s ricotta, then roast veal with carrots, hazelnuts and leek. Viaggio moves from Sicilian red prawns with anchovy colatura and buffalo stracciata to Da Vinci pasta with prawns, langoustines, squid, mussels and clams, then herb-crusted sea bass and lamb rump with pumpkin, broccoli and chestnuts.3
The à la carte menu has a white truffle section, where chestnut ravioli come with creamy potatoes and 3 g of truffle. The autumn risotto with langoustine and porcini takes 20 minutes, the grilled ribeye is for 2, and the caviar is Calvisius Oscietra Royal or Beluga Royal.3
