Post Ranch Inn prices on the hotel’s own booking engine, read on 11 October 2026, ran from $1,975 a night for a Middle Butterfly Room to $4,625 for a Cliff House on 2 winter Wednesdays. Tax adds about 10.7% and $7.90 a night; there is no resort fee.

The choice, in short
Why choose Post Ranch Inn
On Google’s calendar, Sunday to Thursday from December to March was the lowest stretch.
In the rateWhen to look elsewhere
For Saturday 24 July 2027 the engine refused a single night and sold Friday and Saturday together.
Room by roomOne rate per room at the hotel, another figure on Google
Post Ranch Inn publishes a rate for each of its rooms, and Google’s calendar shows something else beside it. We read both on 11 October 2026.
The hotel’s booking engine calls it the Standard Published Rate and prints it «Per Night», «includes all fees, excluding taxes», with daily breakfast, valet parking, the daily activities and the mini-bar. For Wednesday 18 November 2026 it listed 12 rooms: a Middle Butterfly Room at $1,975, a Tree House at $2,525, the Lower Coast House at $2,975 and the Upper at $3,225, Ocean House Southern at $3,675, the Lower Pacific Suite at $3,825, Ocean House Northern at $3,975, the Upper Pacific Suite at $4,175 and Cliff House at $4,625. For Wednesday 20 January 2027 each of those prices was the same, and the list was longer by the Upper Butterfly Room at $2,275 and the 2 Mountain Houses at $2,525 and $2,625.
Summer adds $100 to $250 a night to that card. For Tuesday 13 July 2027 the Middle Butterfly was $2,075, the Tree House $2,675, Ocean House Southern $3,875 and Cliff House $4,875. For the weekend of 23 to 25 July, searched as 2 nights, the same 4 rooms were $2,200, $2,800, $4,000 and $5,000 a night, and the 2 private houses appeared: Castro at $6,300 and the Post House at $6,850. Asked for the single night of Saturday 24 July, the engine answered that the check-in and check-out combination was not available, and suggested another arrival date or a longer stay.
Google Hotels’ one-night calendar for 2 adults, read the same day, held a price for 268 of the 326 nights from 12 October 2026 to 2 September 2027, and for none after that. A calendar price is the lowest figure Google showed for that night among all sellers; it names no room and does not say whether taxes are inside, so it is a reading and never a rate to book. From Sunday to Thursday its figures sit under the hotel’s card: a median of $1,799 across 230 such nights, 184 of them below $1,975, by our count. The lowest of all was $1,657, for 20 and 24 January and for 1 and 17 March 2027. For 18 November Google showed $1,690 where the hotel’s least expensive room was $1,975; for 20 January, $1,657 against $1,975; for 13 July, $1,775 against $2,075.
The one night whose sellers Google’s card listed, 12 October 2026, shows where the lower figure came from that night. The lowest price, $3,082, was that of Super.com, a third-party seller; Google’s card does not name the room behind it. The link Google marks as the hotel’s own stood at $3,675, as did Expedia, Tripadvisor, Orbitz and Travelocity, whose offer named the room: Ocean House Southern, which is $3,675 on the hotel’s winter card too. The calendar’s figure for that night was therefore the third-party seller’s, 16% under the amount on the hotel’s own link by our arithmetic. The parameters of the 2 links, which we read without opening the pages behind them, put Super.com’s total at $3,417.60 and the hotel’s at $4,075.88.
Fridays and Saturdays are another matter. Of the 92 Friday and Saturday nights in that range, Google priced 38, none of them before December, and of the 58 nights without a price 54 were Fridays or Saturdays. For Friday 13 November 2026, one of them, the hotel’s engine answered that the room or rate was not available, for one night and for the weekend’s 2 alike. Where Google did show a weekend night, the median was about $3,290, and the calendar’s highest figures are all weekend nights: $6,325 for Saturday 24 July 2027, $5,825 for Friday 18 June, $4,750 for 30 July and for 21 August. We opened none of those nights on the engine but 24 July, and Google names no room.
The same night does not hold still. We had read the calendar on 1 October as well, and of the 79 nights priced on both days 61 moved by $60 or less, 10 rose by $200 or more and 2 fell by as much. Monday 9 November went from $1,975 to $3,225 in 10 days, Thursday 5 November from $1,983 to $2,851 and Tuesday 27 October from $1,758 to $2,395; Sunday 8 November fell from $2,616 to $1,707. New Year’s Eve stayed at $3,000, Friday 8 January 2027 at $2,800, and 29 and 30 January at $2,700. Tuesday 10 November, $1,963 on 1 October, had no price on the 11th, and 5 nights that had none then had one now, Saturday 5 December at $3,550 among them. On Tuesday 20 October, $3,632 and then $3,599 on Google, the hotel’s engine listed a single room, the Upper Pacific Suite at $4,175.
By month, the calendar’s median night was $2,460 in what remained of October 2026 and $1,988 in November, between about $1,733 and $1,752 from December to March, $1,796 in April, $1,822 in May, $1,902 in June, $1,840 in July and $1,831 in August 2027. Tax is the one thing added to the hotel’s rate, and the policies page gives it to the decimal: a nightly 10.5% occupancy tax, a 0.195% California Tourism Assessment and a $7.90 daily Monterey County Tourism Tax. On the $1,975 room of 18 November that is $207.38, $3.85 and $7.90, so $219.13 of tax and $2,194.13 in all, by our arithmetic. The link Google gives for the hotel’s own offer on 12 October carries such a sum in its parameters: $3,675 with $400.88 of tax, a total of $4,075.88, which is 6 cents under what the 3 rates give by our arithmetic.
A few guests give the figure they paid. One, in June 2026, wrote of nearly $10,000 for 2 nights in an ocean-view room, and of an ocean that stayed hidden by fog throughout; the hotel’s policy says it cannot guarantee ocean views and offers no refund or credit for weather. Another, in September 2024, put the least a guest pays at about $1,500 a night and the usual room at $2,000 to $2,500. A third, in April 2023, on a third visit, wrote of $1,400 a night. A couple in November 2024 were offered a room with an ocean view on arrival for an additional $750.

Post Ranch Inn prices: your questions
How much is a night at Post Ranch Inn?
On the hotel’s engine, read on 11 October 2026, from $1,975 for a Middle Butterfly Room to $4,625 for a Cliff House on a winter weekday, and from $2,075 to $4,875 on a July weekday, before tax. On Google, the lowest figure for a night ran from $1,657 to $6,325 across the year.
Does Post Ranch Inn charge a resort fee?
No. The policies page says so twice, and lists what the room rate includes instead: daily breakfast, the resort activities, the mini-bar, valet parking, the pools and fitness centre and the use of Lexus vehicles, for which a valid US driving licence is required.
Do the prices include tax?
The hotel’s do not: its engine prints each rate «excluding taxes», and the policies add 10.5%, 0.195% and $7.90 a day. Google does not say what its calendar figure contains. On 12 October 2026 the link it gave for the hotel’s own offer showed $3,675 and carried $400.88 of tax in its parameters.
Which month is cheapest?
December to March, from Sunday to Thursday. Google’s median night was between about $1,733 and $1,752 in each of those 4 months, and its lowest figure, $1,657, fell in January and March 2027. The hotel’s own card did not move between 18 November and 20 January.
Why is Google’s price lower than the hotel’s?
On the one night we could check, the calendar’s figure was the lowest of any seller’s. On 12 October 2026 that was Super.com, a third-party seller, at $3,082 for a room Google did not name, while the link Google marks as the hotel’s own and most other sellers showed $3,675.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, daily, with every reservation, as are the mini-bar’s snacks and drinks, parking and the 3 pools (policies). The packages are how dinner is added: Romance at The Ranch, for 2 nights or more, includes a tasting-menu dinner for 2 at Sierra Mar.
How much is the deposit, and when can I cancel?
One night’s stay with tax is charged when you book and the rest 14 days before arrival. Cancel or change at least 14 days ahead; after that the deposit is lost (policies).
Can I book a single Saturday night?
For Saturday 24 July 2027, no: the engine refused the single night and sold 23 to 25 July from $2,200 a night. Google’s calendar had no price for 54 of the 92 Friday and Saturday nights up to 2 September 2027.
How much are the private houses?
For the weekend of 23 to 25 July 2027, Castro was $6,300 a night and the Post House $6,850, before tax. Neither was listed on the 4 weekday nights we opened.
