Estelle Manor’s spa, Eynsham Baths: who may go, the £155 Thermal Journey and why there is no day pass

The Estelle Manor spa is Eynsham Baths, a Roman-style bathhouse of 3,000 m² in the estate’s woods near Witney, open only to members, their guests and hotel guests. The 180-minute Thermal Journey, for over-18s from 9am, 12pm, 3pm or 6pm, is free for members, £95 for their guests and £155 a person for hotel guests; there are no day passes, so anyone without a member’s invitation needs a room.

A Roman bathhouse in an Oxfordshire wood

From the Baths’ own page, its questions, the brochure of April 2026 and the membership page, read on 17 October 2026.

Eynsham Baths is reached down a winding path through old woodland. Its neoclassical building, with carved stone columns, pilasters and hand-shaped bricks, takes its cue from the remains of a Roman villa found near the estate. Inside are 3,000 m²: a tepidarium bathing hall with carved marble, 5 pools, a Tea Lounge and 10 treatment rooms, couples’ suites and thermal cabins among them.

The Thermal Journey moves through 6 thermal areas, and the brochure of April 2026 gives their temperatures: the tepidarium at 36°C, where the journey begins; the caldarium, a sunken bath at 40°C; 2 frigidaria at 15°C and 10°C; Scottish buckets of water at 8°C; a hay sauna at 70 to 100°C, with hay from the farm next door; a botanical steam room at 42 to 48°C; and a breathwork pool at 12 to 17°C. You choose one of 2 circuits, Metabolic Evolution to wake up or Circadian Rest & Recover to wind down, which the Baths say draw on the research of Dr Huberman and Dr Søberg on cold water and contrast therapy.

The journey also opens The Hideaway, an open-air corner with a waterfall, wild flowers and ferns, and includes a healing tea in the Tea Lounge, a domed room with distressed plaster, eucalyptus trees and a bar of Breccia Medicea marble, open from 9am to 8.30pm. Phones are stickered at the door and stay in the locker; a poncho and flip-flops are handed out, and your own swimwear is needed for the pools.

Treatments draw on Indian, Tibetan and Chinese traditions and run from 11am to 7pm. The April brochure prices the 60-minute Eynsham Baths Facial at £195, a 60-minute CBD Therapeutic Massage at £230 and the 120-minute Warrior Massage at £330; for 2, the Ceremony Suite becomes a private spa for 240 minutes, with a warm marble bed, 2 hours of side-by-side treatments and a marble bath, for £1,800 a couple. In The Shala, the 220 m² studio inside the Baths, a sound healing session costs £45 every Saturday at 11.30am.

Guests who got in mostly write about the place. In September 2026 a guest on a birthday weekend called the bathhouse the highlight and the massage the best they had ever had; in August 2026 a guest told readers they must do the Thermal Journey. Others write about getting a place. In November 2025 a guest found the thermal baths and sauna fully booked; in January 2026 another emailed 3 times about a booking without reply and was fitted in only on the day of arrival. A guest who booked only a massage in June 2026 found no facilities to use beyond the changing room, and one in March 2026 thought nearly $200 too much for warm baths and cold plunges.
