Sandy coves inside the grounds, with sunbeds, towels and sunscreen at no charge, and a 300-metre boardwalk of loungers between them. They open at 10am from April to October; cabanas are reserved ahead.
Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, 3 private beaches on a pine-covered peninsula in Vouliagmeni, on the Athens Riviera
A week here, month by monthAstir Palace suits couples who want a spa retreat within reach of Athens, with the lowest seller on Google showing nights for 2 adults from €657 in January. For a trip spent walking between the city’s sights, I would stay in the centre.
Official siteWould you go?
Keep it among your hotels and see it on the budget globe, month by month.
For a quieter stay, I would ask for an Arion Sea-View Room: 40 m² with a furnished private balcony looking over the Aegean, in the building beside the spa and adults-only pool.
In the calendar read on 13 October 2026, the nights from 3 to 9 January 2027 range from €657 to €662 for 2 adults. The dearest night shown, 17 June 2027, reaches €3,146.
For guaranteed room access before the 3pm check-in, the hotel recommends booking the previous night; to keep it beyond the 11am checkout, it recommends reserving an additional night.
For an afternoon at Nafsika Pool, water and sunscreen are complimentary; the pool and beach amenities also include ice pops, frozen fruit, iced tea and refreshing towels throughout the day.
The Astir Palace has stood on the Vouliagmeni peninsula since the early 1960s; Four Seasons reopened it in March 2019. Its 303 rooms are split between 2 terraced buildings, Arion and Nafsika, and 61 bungalows under the pines by the water. Meyer Davis designed the interiors and Martin Brudnizki 3 of the restaurants, the hotel’s fact sheet says.
People come for a resort that happens to be near a capital. The beaches are inside the grounds, Arion has a pool for adults and Nafsika one for families, the spa measures 1,300 m² and stays open all winter, and the kids’ club is free. The MICHELIN Guide gives the hotel 3 Keys and its restaurant Pelagos one star; in September 2026 it was ranked No. 27 in The 50 Best Hotels.
2 things are worth knowing before booking: what it costs and how far it is from the centre. On Google Hotels on 13 October 2026 a night for 2 ran from €662 to €2,620, taxes included. Every visit to the city is a drive of 20 km each way, and in winter the beaches and outdoor pools are shut.

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the pine-covered peninsula, the sea views, the beaches below the room and the feeling of being on an island.

3 things justify the spend for the guests glad to have made it: the setting, the service and the food.
On location it shares first place with Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens among the 6 hotels compared in Athens and on its Riviera.
On the room it comes ahead of the 5 other hotels it is compared with in Athens and on its Riviera.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 20 June 2023 to 7 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Athens and on its Riviera: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 8 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Athens and on its Riviera:
Price: for two on the night of 3 January 2027, from €657 (seen on Google Hotels on 13 October 2026).
The calendar read on 13 October 2026 puts nights for 2 adults between €657 and €983 from November to 24 March, rising to €1,723–€3,146 from 21 May. In the separate reading of 8 October 2026, the night of 10 November cost €743 from the lowest seller and €744 from the hotel’s own listing; I would choose winter for the year-round spa.

The lowest price any seller showed on Google Hotels for one night searched alone, for 2 adults, read on 13 October 2026; the calendar stops at 8 September 2027. The separate high night of 6 May 2027 was €2,354; 22 October 2026 had no price. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed on 13 October asked €635 a night; the hotel’s own listing, €636.
3 sandy coves, 2 pools by the sea, a starred restaurant, a taverna on the shore and a spa that works in winter too.

Sandy coves inside the grounds, with sunbeds, towels and sunscreen at no charge, and a 300-metre boardwalk of loungers between them. They open at 10am from April to October; cabanas are reserved ahead.

Nafsika’s free-form pool is where families go, with the Kyma bar beside it serving until 7pm. Arion’s infinity pool, above the rocks, is kept for adults.

The hotel’s seafood restaurant, with a terrace over the bay, opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. A tasting starts at €155 a person, and children are welcome from 12.

10 treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool and the Fountain House, an adults-only circuit of steam grotto, sauna, hammam and cold showers. Massages start at €275.

Greek cooking at wooden tables by the water: meze, souvlaki, grilled lamb and fish sold by the kilo, from 1pm to 10.30pm, with ouzo or tsipouro to finish.

Nafsika’s bar, open from noon to 1am, with cocktails devised in its own laboratory and DJs from 7.30pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The hotel is open all year but built for summer. In the cold months the spa, its indoor pool, the restaurants and the kids’ club carry the stay, and on Google’s cards for 31 December and 12 January every room on offer was in Nafsika.
Athens is a drive away: 27 minutes to the Acropolis Museum on empty roads and longer in traffic, with the metro at Elliniko, 11 km up the coast.
Menus are priced with taxes included: €25 for a Greek salad, €31 for a burger.
The resort hosts weddings of up to 1,000 guests and DJ evenings at Avra. Most reviews describe calm.
Arion and Nafsika differ in mood. Arion is the calmer one, beside the spa and the adults’ pool; Nafsika has the family pool, Mercato, Avra and the boutiques. Golf carts link both with the bungalows and the restaurants.
The hotel’s site lists valet parking among room amenities but publishes no parking fee and no pet policy, as read on 15 October 2026. Booking.com and the MICHELIN Guide mention charges for pets where Google says they stay free; parking is free on Booking.com and Google, and Expedia adds a surcharge for the valet.

On 8 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 3,564 ratings, 91% of them 5 stars; Tripadvisor 4.4/5 from 599, first of 8 hotels in Vouliagmeni. These are accounts of stays we have not checked.
6 stays described on Google between July and September 2026.
In September 2026 a couple writing in French praised the setting, among pines and beaches yet 30 minutes from Athens. Their Nafsika room was large and bright, with a terrace facing the sea; they liked the range of restaurants and the spa’s treatment rooms open to the water.
Also in September 2026 a guest who stayed in Nafsika judged it better than Arion and loved the beach club, water-skiing from the hotel and the breakfast spread. 2 things to fix: weak Wi-Fi at the pool and on the beach, and smokers at Avra.
A 2-star review of September 2026 liked the location and meals at Mercato, then listed its grievances: rooms small for the rate, heavy furniture, wedding music into the early hours and a pest problem in the room, which the guest felt the hotel made too little of.
In August 2026 a guest who reported paying €4,500 a night for a room with a pool gave 2 stars: cars and taxis on the road inside the grounds, little sand, most sunbeds on rock. The food was good, the review concedes.
In July 2026 a family gave 5 stars: service praised from the doormen to housekeeping, a handsome gym and, above all, the kids’ club, where the children spent hours and made friends they kept at the pool. Helios was the one restaurant they would improve.
A 4-star review of July 2026 from regular Four Seasons guests: the property is superb, yet staff did not know them by name, there were waits at the pool and at the starred restaurant, and each bill arrived with a suggested tip of 24%.
The questions people ask before booking Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, answered from sources read on 8 October 2026.
A 5-star seaside resort on a private, pine-covered peninsula in Vouliagmeni, on the Athens Riviera, run by Four Seasons since March 2019. The official site gives 30 hectares, 3 private beaches and more than 300 accommodations: 200 rooms, 42 suites and 61 bungalows, in 3 settings called Arion, Nafsika and the Bungalows. The hotel’s fact sheet counts 303.
The resort dates from the early 1960s: the fact sheet says it first opened in August 1960, the accommodation page that the bungalows came first, in 1961. The MICHELIN Guide gives it 3 Keys, and a hotel press release of 15 September 2026 reports No. 27 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 and 5 stars from Forbes Travel Guide. Figures vary elsewhere: Expedia writes of 181 rooms, and one official page gives the estate 40 hectares where the others say 30.
There are 21 types on the accommodation page, each with a balcony, terrace or garden. Arion has rooms of 40 m² facing the pines or the sea, Executive Suites of 52 m² and a one-bedroom suite of 75 m². Nafsika’s rooms measure 44 m² and all face the sea, the ground-floor ones opening onto a garden; its suites are 88 m², one with a private plunge pool.
The bungalows are 42 m², towards the garden or the sea, and the Bungalow Suites 80 m²; 3 of those 6 types have a private pool. The specialty suites run from the 132 m² terrace suite in Nafsika, with its glass plunge pool, to the 450 m² Arion Riviera Suite, listed with others on the private pools page. Bathrooms are marble, most with a deep bath and a separate shower.
At 40 Apollonos Street in Vouliagmeni, a seaside suburb on the coast south of Athens, at the end of a wooded peninsula it shares with Astir Marina, the Astir Beach club and 2 independent restaurants, Matsuhisa Athens and Beefbar Athens. The Acropolis Museum is 20 km away: 27 minutes by car without traffic on OpenStreetMap’s roads, 30 by the hotel’s reckoning.
It is quiet in the way of a resort, with no through traffic and the sea on 3 sides. In the evening the music is the resort’s own: the hotel hosts weddings of up to 1,000 guests and Avra has a DJ at weekends; anyone after more calm, or travelling without children, should ask for Arion, beside the spa and the adults’ pool.
Measured on OpenStreetMap’s roads on 8 October 2026, from the hotel’s map pin and without traffic. On foot: Astir Marina 9 minutes (694 metres), Astir Beach 10 minutes, the sanctuary of Apollo Zoster 11, the public beach of Akti Vouliagmenis 27 minutes (2.0 km) and Lake Vouliagmeni 37 minutes (2.8 km), or 7 minutes by car.
By car: Glyfada 12 minutes (8 km), the metro at Elliniko 16, the Stavros Niarchos cultural centre 27, the Acropolis Museum 27 (20 km), Syntagma Square 29 and the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion 64 (45 km). A second router gives 37 minutes to the museum and 38 to Syntagma. The hotel’s own attractions page gives 5 minutes by car to the lake and about 50 km to Cape Sounion; the MICHELIN Guide’s page places the hotel 30 miles from the city centre, more than double the road distance.
By car. The hotel’s location page gives 25 km and 25 minutes from Athens International Airport, or 15 minutes by helicopter to its own helipad. On OpenStreetMap’s roads the drive is 24 km and 34 minutes without traffic, 39 by a second router.
The concierge books limousine transfers and hire cars; the page prints no fare. Google’s listing mentions a free airport shuttle, which none of the official pages read offers. The port of Piraeus, gate E7, is 24 km and 33 minutes away. The metro station of Elliniko is 11 km up the coast.
Yes. The official room pages list valet parking among the services, and Booking.com states that free private parking is available at the hotel. Expedia says self-parking is free and valet parking carries a surcharge; the MICHELIN Guide lists free parking and valet parking and, in the same list, self-service parking with charges; Google shows parking, self-parking and valet all as free, with charging points for electric cars.
The official pages read print no tariff, so the surcharge Expedia mentions has no published figure. A wedding guest in June 2026 found plenty of spaces right by the entrance.
Yes: 3 private sandy beaches inside the grounds, steps from the rooms and free for hotel guests, with sunbeds, towels, water and sunscreen provided, says the beaches page. A boardwalk of 300 metres lined with loungers follows the water, and the water-sports centre works from it between 9am and 7pm.
The beaches and boardwalk operate from April to October, according to the amenities page, from 10am to 8pm. The 3 beaches are Zolotas, below the bungalows, Nafsika and Arion, as both the beaches page and the family page name them, read on 15 October 2026. Guests call the coves beautiful and small. People not staying at the hotel pay a daily rate, which the site does not print.
2 outdoor pools, both beside the sea. The Nafsika pool is the free-form family pool, with the Kyma bar and its gelato stand; the Arion pool is a long infinity pool for adults only, the pools page says. A third, indoor pool belongs to the spa, and several suites and bungalows have a private plunge or infinity pool.
Google’s listing adds a hot tub and a lifeguard, neither of which appears on the official pages read. Cabanas by the pools and beaches are reserved through the hotel, with snacks, drinks and sunscreen; a guest in July 2024 wrote of cabanas at €300.
The 2 outdoor pools operate from March to October, the amenities page says, between 10am and 8pm. The official pages do not state whether they are heated. The spa’s indoor pool is heated and open all year: from 9am to 2pm for families with children of 7 to 15, from 2pm to 9pm for adults only, on the spa page. A guest who stayed in February 2025 found many outdoor facilities shut, as expected, and still rated the stay highly.
Pelagos, with one MICHELIN star, serves seafood at dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, 7pm to 10pm. Mercato, the Italian restaurant in Nafsika, does breakfast from 7am to 11am, lunch from 1pm to 5pm, dinner from 7pm to 10.30pm and a Sunday brunch from 1pm to 5.30pm. Taverna 37, Greek and by the water, serves breakfast too, then runs from 1pm to 10.30pm; Helios, Latin American, from 1pm to 9.30pm.
For drinks there are Avra, from noon to 1am; Astron, Arion’s lounge, from 9am to 10.30pm; the Kyma pool and beach bar, from 10am to 7pm; and Aristotle’s, the cigar lounge. Room service runs round the clock. On the menus read on 8 October 2026 fried calamari at Taverna 37 cost €24 and half a grilled chicken €36, a calzone at Mercato €23 and grilled sea bass €36, an avocado toast at Avra €21.
The site counts its restaurants and bars as 8, 9 or 10 depending on the page. The dining page also lists Matsuhisa Athens and Beefbar Athens, on the same peninsula and open in the evening. Taverna 37 is described as open seasonally, yet it hosts the Christmas and New Year lunches; on 8 October the summer pop-up on Zolotas beach was marked temporarily closed. Tables at Pelagos are reserved online or by telephone, and none of the restaurant pages read prints a dress code.
It depends on the rate. The Bed and Breakfast offer includes daily breakfast for 2, and a second offer takes 20% off that rate for stays of 2 to 10 nights on selected dates until 31 March 2027. Breakfast is served at Mercato and at Taverna 37 until 11am.
The pages read print no price for breakfast taken separately, and Google’s listing marks it as an extra charge. No half-board or full-board plan is published. Guests write warmly of the buffet at Mercato, the pastries and the terrace over the sea.
Large, and open all year: 1,300 m² according to a hotel press release of 27 January 2026, with 10 treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool, a relaxation lounge and the Fountain House, an adults-only hydrotherapy area with an aroma steam grotto, cold showers, a sauna and a hammam, as the spa page lists them. There is a couples’ suite with its own bath and outdoor deck, a boutique and a hair salon.
The fitness centre is open 24 hours and staffed from 7am to 10pm, with free classes such as yoga, Pilates and Tabata. The spa page, read on 15 October 2026, counts 10 treatment rooms and gives the spa daily hours of 9am to 9pm, with no season attached.
Treatments are charged and the fitness classes are complimentary; the official pages do not spell out whether hotel guests pay for the indoor pool and the Fountain House. What the spa page does say is that the hydrotherapy area is open to any guest with a day pass, and the pools page that external guests reach those facilities with one.
The price of the day pass is not published. The seasonal page adds that spa experiences are open to people not staying, by reservation. For the outdoor pools and beaches a separate daily rate applies to non-residents; a caller in August 2026 was quoted €300.
The spa and its boutique open from 9am to 9pm, and the hair salon from 11am to 7pm. The indoor pool keeps family hours in the morning and adult hours from 2pm. Treatments are booked ahead through the spa page: guests must be 16 or over, and those of 7 to 15 can have family treatments with a parent, every day until 3pm.
On the spa menu read on 8 October 2026: body massages from €275, among them the signature Yi, a detox massage, the deep-tissue Entasi and a prenatal one, with a shorter massage from €155; the 80-minute Storgi ritual from €390 and a ritual for 2 from €610; facials from €185, Omorovicza and Biologique Recherche facials from €360 and a HydraFacial from €380.
Body polishes start at €195 and a family treatment at €460. For every Yi massage the hotel funds the planting of 3 trees in Attica. At the salon a blow-dry starts at €130, a haircut for women at €180 and a manicure at €80.
Yes, within age limits. Kids For All Seasons, the supervised club, is free, runs all year and takes children of 4 to 12; teenagers from 12 have their own programme, from a DJ class to an augmented-reality game, and babysitting is arranged with notice, says the family page. Nafsika has the family pool, and children of 18 and under share their parents’ room at no charge, space permitting.
Under 4 there is no club: for younger children there is babysitting. Pelagos takes children from 12, the Arion pool is for adults and spa treatments begin at 16. Most rooms sleep 2 adults with an infant or one child; the Bungalow Suites take 2 children of 10 or under, and the 2-bedroom suites 4 adults and 2 children.
The hotel’s site does not publish a pet policy or fee, as read on 15 October 2026. Booking.com: pets are allowed on request and charges may apply. Expedia: pets allowed, up to 22 lb (10 kg) each, with service animals exempt from fees. The MICHELIN Guide: pets allowed, charges apply. Google’s listing: dogs and cats allowed, free.
3 floodlit hard tennis courts and a padel court, open from 8am to 10pm: an hour of court is free for hotel guests, a private lesson costs €110 and the padel court €60 for 90 minutes, on the tennis page. There are also a basketball court and a five-a-side pitch, jogging trails through the pines and water sports from wake-surfing to sea kayaking.
Boats come alongside at Nafsika’s jetty and helicopters at the helipad. Astir Marina, 9 minutes away on foot, has boutiques and berths for 59 yachts, and the hotel sells day cruises to Hydra and Spetses from €4,200.
3 on the offers page on 8 October 2026. «Bed and Breakfast» adds daily breakfast for 2. «Athens Riviera Escape» takes 20% off that rate, with a minimum of 2 nights. «Experience More» gives guests in a suite a spending credit of €450 a stay, on stays of 3 nights or longer, for the hotel’s own extras. All 3 are subject to availability and blackout dates, and the pages note that offer rates exclude taxes.
Yes: the weddings page describes celebrations from 10 guests to 1,000, with an in-house planner, banquet menus and room blocks. The largest setting is the Plateia Terrace on Nafsika’s fifth floor, 1,163 m², for 500 at a banquet or 1,000 standing; the Nafsika Terrace takes 500 seated, the Nafsika Ballroom 300 and the Arion Ballroom 100, on the venues page.
No prices are published. The hotel’s fact sheet gives a lower ceiling: 2,119 m² of event space for 12 to 560 people. Weddings are frequent enough for other guests to notice them in their reviews.
Yes, in several rooms. The seasonal page, which on 8 October 2026 still showed the programme that welcomed 2026, lists a 7-course dinner at Pelagos, a dinner at Mercato with seafood, black truffle and wagyu, and a party at Avra with DJs, a live band and fireworks, sold as 2 packages, with unlimited cocktails or unlimited Champagne. The hotel’s press release for that season adds a 6-course dinner at Taverna 37.
New Year’s Day brings a brunch at Mercato and a lunch at Taverna 37. No prices are printed; the page recommends booking early and says the dinners are open to people not staying. The programme for 31 December 2026 had not appeared when we read the page. On Google Hotels that night stood at €767 for 2, taxes included.
No: the official pages offer none. The amenities page lists Glyfada Golf Club as nearby; it is 10 km and 14 minutes away by car on OpenStreetMap’s roads, 22 by a second router.
Yes. The seasonal page calls it a year-round retreat and carries a festive programme through December, and on Google Hotels, read on 8 October 2026, 111 of the 115 nights to 31 January 2027 had a price. Parts of the resort are seasonal: the beaches and boardwalk from April to October, the outdoor pools from March to October. The spa, its indoor pool and the kids’ club stay open.
Winter may also mean fewer buildings. On the cards for 31 December 2026 and 12 January 2027 every room offered, by the hotel’s own site as by the agencies, was in Nafsika, while the card for 10 November still offered Arion rooms and bungalows. Google’s description speaks of a seasonal annex and seasonal bungalows; the official pages read do not say which buildings close, or when.
Google Hotels, read on 8 October 2026, 2 adults, one night, taxes and fees included: €1,209 on 14 October 2026, €2,625 on 21 October, €1,050 on Saturday 24 October, €743 on 10 November, €800 on Saturday 14 November, €663 on 6 December, €664 on 24 December, €760 on 31 December, €954 on 1 January 2027 and €664 on 12 January.
The calendar gives each night’s lowest price from any seller and names no room. On the nights read one by one the hotel’s own site was within €1 of it: €1,210 for a Garden-View Bungalow on 14 October, €744 for an Arion Pine-View Room on 10 November and €761 for a Nafsika Sea-View Room on New Year’s Eve. Of the 115 nights to 31 January 2027, 111 had a price, from €663 to €2,625; the peak fell on 21 October, and the calendar does not say why.
On 8 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 3,564 ratings, 91% of them 5 stars; Tripadvisor 4.4/5 from 599, with location, cleanliness and sleep quality at 4.8 and value at 4.3; Booking.com 9.3/10 from 816, with value for money at 8.5; Expedia 8.8/10 from 78.
Guests praise the setting, the sea views, the beaches, the staff and breakfast. Bar and restaurant prices also recur in the reviews, with cabanas at a charge, waits for service on the beach and by the pool, and the half-hour drive to Athens.
On Google Hotels the amounts already include them.
