Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok spa: across the river by boat

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok spa suits someone who wants a long treatment in a teak house across the Chao Phraya. The Oriental Spa opens 10am–8pm; a 90-minute traditional Thai massage is THB 5,200 before 10% service and 7% tax on the brochure read on 17 October 2026, and the boat crossing needs time in the plan.

The brochure describes the hands-on treatment and the time it takes. Its prices carry 10% service and 7% government tax.

The crossing is part of arriving here. The spa’s own brochure describes a short boat ride from the hotel to the opposite bank, followed by cooling tea and a consultation. The restored teakwood house gives the afternoon a different setting from the main hotel. Allow for that journey as well as the requested early check-in: reception asks you to arrive at least 20 minutes before your first treatment, and a late arrival does not extend the booked session.

Traditional Thai Massage is performed on a futon in loose clothing. The brochure describes rocking movements, acupressure and assisted stretches; a 90-minute session costs THB 5,200 and 2 hours THB 6,900 on the reading of 17 October 2026. Thai Warrior Massage has the same lengths and prices, combining massage with Thai hermit exercises. Choose with the therapist after explaining the kind of session you want and any restrictions that may affect the treatment.

The Essence of Thailand rituals each take 2 hours 30 minutes at THB 9,000 before service and tax. Spirit of Isaan uses black sticky rice, coffee beans and loofah in its scrub and mask, then an Oriental Bamboo Massage. Lanna Ceremony looks to the north, with a herbal foot ritual, a golden-salt scrub, a mask, Tok Sen tapping with a tamarind-wood stick and a warm herbal compress. Those are specific ways of spending a long appointment; choose by the treatment sequence you would enjoy.

The southern ritual, Sense of Pak Tai, begins with a stone foot ritual and a coconut scrub, followed by a black-cumin mask and the spa’s Southern Healing Therapy. Life Along the Chao Phraya River instead draws on central Thailand and Songkran: a foot bath, scrub and mask, traditional Thai massage and Thai hermit-style stretching. The regional titles describe the inspiration and ingredients. They make a more useful choice than expecting every long ritual to feel the same.

The Oriental Signature offers another option: 90 minutes at THB 5,800 or 2 hours at THB 7,500. It uses a blend of essential oils including lavender, ylang-ylang, patchouli, peppermint, rosemary and lemon, followed by a localised herbal compress with lemongrass, turmeric and plai. Oriental Harmony is the 2-therapist treatment, priced at THB 15,400 for 2 hours. It begins with a scrub before the coordinated massage. The brochure gives both the length and what happens, so compare the treatment itself alongside the price.

For time together, Serenity for Two lasts 2 hours 30 minutes at THB 16,000 on the brochure read on 17 October. It combines tea and guided meditation, private suite time and a 90-minute Oriental Signature Massage. Separate suite hire is also listed: Oriental Suite THB 3,200 for 1 hour, Deluxe Suite THB 2,800, with relaxation space, steam shower, Jacuzzi bath and refreshments. Confirm which room and treatment your reservation includes instead of treating a suite booking as interchangeable with an ordinary massage.

The current spa terms welcome guests to the Fitness & Wellness Centre’s heat experiences after a spa treatment. They also set a minimum age of 16 for ordinary spa and fitness-centre access. Younger children have an expressly described arrangement: ages 6–15 need signed parental consent and a parent or guardian in the same treatment room. The separate family page prices Blissful Bond at THB 4,200 per person for 1 hour or THB 5,200 for 90 minutes, before charges, with different treatments for parent and child.

Book with the cancellation rule in mind. The spa requires credit-card authorisation at booking and at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation charge; inside that period it charges 100%. Mobile devices should be switched off and secured in the locker. If movement matters more than another treatment, the centre across the river has separate yoga, personal-training and Muay Thai bookings. Those classes have their own prices and hours, so discuss the whole afternoon with the team.

Leave space around the treatment

  • Choose the treatment length

The traditional Thai options run 90 minutes or 2 hours; each regional ritual needs 2 hours 30 minutes.

  • Describe your needs

The consultation is part of the spa arrival. For a young guest, use the family-treatment route and confirm the consent and accompaniment arrangements.

  • Allow for the boat

The spa sits opposite the hotel. Add the transfer and an early reception check-in to the treatment time.

  • Ask about the heat rooms

The official terms invite treatment guests to use the Fitness & Wellness Centre’s heat experiences afterwards.

  • Cancel at least 24 hours ahead

The published policy charges the full amount for a cancellation inside 24 hours. Late arrival also shortens the time available.

Both photographs show the Oriental Spa: a treatment suite and its reception. The hotel’s own brochure places the spa across the river, reached by boat from the main hotel. That separation is worth keeping in mind if another reservation follows; leave the afternoon enough breathing room for the crossing, consultation and treatment.

The long regional rituals share a duration and printed price, with different ingredients and techniques.
