Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco, among Tuscany wedding venues: 300 guests and a pool above the valley

Among Tuscany wedding venues, Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco gives you Il Pratino, a lawn facing the Serchio Valley, and rooms seating up to 300. Barga looks on from the hill opposite while you say your vows; drinks and dinner then move to other spaces, and indoors the Salone Pascoli and La Veranda stand by if the weather turns.

Who a wedding at Il Ciocco suits

Why choose it

You want a big wedding, the ceremony in the garden or the village church, drinks on La Piazzetta and every guest sleeping under one roof.

The spaces and seats

When to look elsewhere

You want a villa to yourselves or a civil ceremony guaranteed on site: Casale de’ Pasquinelli is hired only exclusively, and Villa Lena is a Casa Comunale.

Other venues

Marrying on the hill opposite Barga

From Il Pratino, Barga stands witness on the opposite hill. That is where you start picturing the ceremony, and then working out where to take your guests without losing the view.

Exclusive use has been on offer here for years. In September 2015 the resort took its weddings to the National Wedding Show in London, and the press release pointed out that the whole resort could be booked exclusively; today Marriott’s events page says the same: «Exclusive booking of our hotel and facilities is also available».

In 2019 World Bride named La Piazzetta and the Salone Pascoli as the most requested reception spaces, alongside pizza parties by the pool and drinks on La Veranda’s terrace. That same year a couple celebrated a 3-day wedding here with 85 guests.

For a glimpse of the day, the hotel posted a short film on Instagram in September 2025: a ceremony on the lawn, a violinist, white chairs, olive trees and, behind the couple, the valley.

Mind the name: Il Ciocco is also the estate around the hotel, a separate company that runs weddings of its own at the Taverna dello Scoiattolo, a thousand metres up. Those weddings are not the hotel’s. The Renaissance is a Marriott hotel, and its spaces are the ones on this page.

To tell the wedding story we read 6 Marriott pages, including the June copy of the weddings page, 2 wedding directories and 3 Tripadvisor accounts, and picked 4 videos, one of a ceremony on the lawn. Google’s reviews help less, and we would rather say so: of the 806 with text, only 11 describe a wedding at the hotel. 6 guests were there for a wedding or another event, and all give 4 or 5 stars. The others were staying through someone else’s: a wedding that runs for several days can be heard all over the resort, and whoever is planning one can book it exclusively.

The wedding day, space by space

Lawn, drinks, dinner: the order is yours to draw up with the hotel’s wedding team, rain plan included. Here is one possible day, space by space, with how many each one holds.

11am

Guests arrive

Guests flying into Pisa face 76 km, 79 minutes by car. There is no scheduled shuttle: the hotel’s Navigator arranges transfers, and for weddings Marriott lists chauffeured cars and reserved parking.

4pm

The ceremony

The vows can be said in the gardens or on a terrace, Marriott says, and the Il Pratino lawn seats 300. A church wedding means a short drive: 5 minutes and 2.2 km to Castelvecchio Pascoli, 10 minutes and 6.2 km to Barga Cathedral.

5.30pm

Drinks on La Piazzetta

La Piazzetta looks over the pool and the valley and holds 400 standing. From May to September the toast can move down to the poolside, for up to 250; and the night before, World Bride reports, some couples throw a pizza party by the pool.

7.30pm

Dinner

For dinner the Salone Pascoli seats up to 300, La Veranda 180 inside and 150 on its terrace. The kitchen is the hotel’s alone: asked whether the venue can be hired without its catering, Matrimonio.com answers «No», and describes 4 courses with Tuscan wines from the cellar and the cake.

10.30pm

The party

The party can run late: the Matrimonio.com listing sets no time limit on the reception and imposes no photographer or band, and a couple married here in 2019 mention an after-party in the resort’s club.

The next day

The couple’s room

The wedding night is spent in the Junior Suite the hotel gives the couple; guests get special rates, which Marriott does not publish.

Other Tuscany wedding venues with a pool

6 Tuscan venues that count a pool among their wedding spaces: how many guests, how many rooms, and how far from Il Ciocco by car.

Search for Tuscany wedding venues and the lists come first: wedding directories, planners, Instagram. We read the pages of 6 Tuscan venues that name a pool among their wedding spaces or services. None publishes a price. On numbers, of those that give a guest count, only Il Ciocco goes beyond 200; on intimacy the others win, since Casale de’ Pasquinelli is hired only exclusively and Villa Marta has 18 rooms.

  • What guests say about weddings here

Those who came for a wedding, whether couples, guests or planners, praise the events team, the views and the choice of spaces, from 2014 to 2026. For guests staying while someone else’s wedding is on, a wedding that runs for several days can be heard all over the resort, and the common rooms fill with its guests.

Questions about a wedding at Il Ciocco

Guest numbers, civil ceremonies, prices, exclusive use, the pool, suppliers, travel and the season.

How many guests can a wedding at Il Ciocco take?

Up to 300 seated for a banquet and 400 standing for drinks, according to the weddings page. The directories go higher: 350 at most on Matrimonio.com, which asks for a minimum of 50, and on Matrimoni e Nozze; the hotel’s 2017 brochure gave 480 seats in the Salone Pascoli, today’s page 300.

Can you hold a civil ceremony at the hotel?

Possibly, but the sources disagree. The English weddings page listed «Civil Ceremony and Symbolic Ceremony» in June and on 26 September 2026; by 27 September the heading had gone, in every language. Tuscany for Weddings, the regional guide, has listed «Hotel Il Ciocco» among its civil-ceremony venues since 2022 without naming the building, and both directories say the ceremony can be held on site. Either way, Barga’s town council also holds civil weddings at the town hall.

How much does a wedding at Renaissance Il Ciocco cost?

Menus start at €140 a head on Matrimonio.com, which adds a fixed venue fee without saying how much, and run from €150 to €250 on Matrimoni e Nozze; the hotel itself publishes no prices, packages or venue fees. Neither listing is dated; we read both on 27 September 2026.

Can you have the whole resort to yourselves?

Yes, the events page offers it, but the hotel usually stays open. Reviews describe weddings alongside other guests: in 2023 a wedding and a conference at once, and in August 2026 areas closed off and breakfast moved to a smaller room. Matrimonio.com says the hotel holds one event a day.

What part does the pool play on the day?

It is the drinks space: 250 for cocktails or 150 for a pizza party, on 505 m², with La Piazzetta, where receptions are held, just above it. The outdoor pool is open between 1 May and 30 September. None of the reviews we read describes drinks by the pool at a wedding, and no source says whether other guests can swim meanwhile.

Can you bring your own photographer, band or planner?

Your photographer, band and planner, yes; your own caterer, no, because catering is the hotel’s. Matrimonio.com says there are no exclusive suppliers for photography and music, and in 2019 an outside planner ran a 3-day wedding here; the hotel also offers its own Marriott Certified Wedding Planners.

How do guests get there, and is there a shuttle?

By car, and there is no scheduled shuttle. Pisa airport is 76 km away, 79 minutes; Florence 104 km. The hotel’s Navigator arranges transfers, at €45 a person on Hotels.com and €130 on Agoda. In August 2026 one guest paid about €90 by taxi to Lucca and was quoted €140 to €200 to Pisa.

Which months are weddings held in?

From May to October, going by dated reviews and posts; the hotel is open all year and publishes no wedding season. Drinks by the pool need the months the outdoor pool is open, 1 May to 30 September.

The outdoor pool opens from 1 May to 30 September
