Breakfast at Stonehouse
Served daily until 9.30am. Lemon ricotta pancakes with bacon are $28 on the menu, huevos rancheros $28, eggs Benedict $32.
San Ysidro Ranch restaurants come down to one dining room and one bar: Stonehouse, in a 19th-century citrus packing house with a terrace facing the ocean, and The Speakeasy. Cottage guests have the food in the rate and pay for alcohol; visitors pay from $42 for a dinner main course.

Dinner on a terrace with an ocean view, dishes flambéed at the table and a 16,000-bottle cellar underneath.
Dinner pricesOne restaurant and one bar for the whole stay; for visitors, dinner mains run from $42 to $225 and brunch is $145 before tax and tip.
Other hotel tablesStonehouse’s menus are signed by one executive chef, Matt Johnson, who joined the Ranch in 2008.
Stonehouse was built in the 19th century as a working citrus packing house. You eat indoors by a wood-burning fireplace or out on the terrace, under strings of lights, with the Pacific and the Channel Islands in the distance. The kitchen draws on the organic garden a few steps away and on the Ranch’s own citrus groves: Meyer lemons from those trees go into the lemon tart, and in 2014 the chef built a 5-course dinner round them at the James Beard House in New York. OpenTable has named it the No. 1 restaurant in Santa Barbara, the Michelin Guide recognises it, and Wine Spectator has given it the Grand Award since 2014.
The dinner menu is built round dishes finished at the table. Steak Diane is flambéed beside you at $115, a Beef Wellington is carved there at $225, without the menu saying for how many, and Dover sole for 2 is filleted at $205. Away from the theatre, Alaskan halibut and Ora King salmon cost $68, miso-glazed black cod $72, rack of lamb $98, house-made fettuccine $49 and the vegan Moroccan-spiced cauliflower $42. Most starters run from $28 for the soup to $38 for the Korean beef tacos, which the menu calls Ty Warner’s favourite appetiser from Seoul; the Ranch is a Ty Warner property. 4 desserts are set alight at the table; cherries jubilee and bananas Foster cost $28.
Lunch, from Monday to Saturday, is plainer and cheaper: halibut tacos or a crispy chicken sandwich at $26, a grain bowl from the chef’s garden at $29, the Angus burger at $34, steak frites at $56. On Sundays lunch gives way to the Champagne Brunch, at $145 a person before tax and gratuity, with Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, prosecco, Bellinis and mimosas poured freely. Its menu has 3 parts, starters, entrées and desserts, and does not say how many dishes the price covers. The choices include lemon ricotta pancakes, buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, a smoked salmon Benedict on a potato rösti and a grilled flat iron steak; pouring Dom Pérignon 2015 instead adds $420 a person.
The Speakeasy is the bar, styled on the hidden bars of Prohibition, with a fireplace and live music every night; Forbes Travel Guide lists it among its Star Bars, 37 in the world. The cocktail list prices its originals at $28 and gives a chapter to Latin America: the Velvet Vista mixes Monkey 47 gin and pisco with purple-corn chicha morada. The food is bar cooking: a half rack of baby back ribs at $28, halibut fish and chips at $46, and 2 dishes that cost more at Stonehouse, Korean beef tacos at $26 and Ty’s Kobe beef sliders at $24.
For guests in the cottages the arithmetic is different. The cottages page lists «Complimentary Dining (excludes alcohol)» among the services of every stay, in the restaurants or brought to the cottage, and the FAQ confirms that in-room dining can be ordered throughout the property. 2 things on the lunch menu are marked as additional: the seafood tower, $275, and Royal Ossetra caviar, $375. The wine is the other bill. The cellar under Stonehouse holds 16,000 bottles and 3,500 labels, and Château d’Yquem appears on the dessert wine list, the 2007 at $155, with no measure printed. No page read says how the Sunday brunch, whose price takes in sparkling wine, or afternoon tea is treated for a guest who is staying.
Many of the Ranch’s Google reviews come from visitors to the restaurant. One who came for lunch in April 2026 found it pricey and the gardens immaculate, «like we had discovered a secret place». Another, in February 2026, prefers eating at the bar, where the menu comes without the «fuss» and the prices of the dining room. A guest in December 2025 enjoyed a brunch of 5 courses and paid, they wrote, $125 a head. Against these, an August 2026 reviewer called dinner sub-par, and a diner at Thanksgiving 2025 found the food uninspired and overpriced, the Wellington’s pastry soggy.
Served daily until 9.30am. Lemon ricotta pancakes with bacon are $28 on the menu, huevos rancheros $28, eggs Benedict $32.
Until 2pm. On Sundays the Champagne Brunch takes its place, from 10am to 2pm.
Afternoon tea costs $95 a person and is reserved by telephone; the sandwiches include a lobster profiterole with trout roe.
Stonehouse serves dinner every day from 5pm to 9pm. The Speakeasy opens at the same hour.
Every night at The Speakeasy, until 10.30pm by the hotel’s page; the bar’s own drinks list says 10pm.
The dessert list pours Dow’s 10-year-old tawny port at $15 and a flight of 3 Madeiras, 1oz of each; it prints 100 beside each of the 3, which reads as $100 for the flight.
