What the Savoy, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants and the MICHELIN Guide say of the room, and the à la carte as it was online on 16 October 2026.

The Savoy’s page for the Grill describes an Art Deco room with «Hollywood glamour» and a British and French menu with a long wine list, and it keeps a roll of the people who ate there: Winston Churchill lingering over lunch, James Dean in a corner booth, Marilyn Monroe crossing the room, Frank Sinatra, Oscar Wilde and Queen Elizabeth II. The MICHELIN Guide’s inspectors write of chandeliers, of décor «elegant and opulent in equal measure», and of a room «unsurprisingly popular with celebratory couples».

The menu is built round the grill. On the à la carte the Beef Wellington comes with truffle, red wine jus and a shallot purée for £66; Dover sole, grilled or Véronique with a Champagne beurre blanc and grapes, is £69, and so is Steak Diane with wild mushrooms and brandy. From the charcoal grill a 220g fillet is £65, a 300g rib-eye £64 and a 250g A5 Wagyu Denver steak £99, each with a sauce: béarnaise, peppercorn, chimichurri, Café de Paris butter or red wine jus. For 2, a 900g côte de bœuf is £150 and a 600g Chateaubriand £155, with up to 45 minutes to wait.

Before it, Louet-Feisser oysters come plain with shallot mignonette or as Rockefeller, 3 for £22 and 6 for £43, and the Arnold Bennett soufflé of smoked haddock and Montgomery cheddar sauce is £24. Caviar is sold by the 30g: £120 for Imperial Oscietra, £270 for Imperial Beluga. Sides are £8.50 each, among them «Bloody Mary» fries. The desserts that arrive with some ceremony are the crêpes Suzette with Grand Marnier at £26 and an apple tarte tatin for 2 at £38; a sticky toffee pudding is £19.

At lunch the Grill is cheaper. The set lunch, Monday to Friday from noon to 5.45pm, is £59 for 2 courses and £66 for 3, with a choice of 3 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts: hake with barley risotto, guinea fowl with Madeira jus, pumpkin gnocchi. The Wellington is on it too, at £26 more a head. The pre-theatre menu online the same day carries the same dishes, hours and prices. At the other end of the evening, the Savoy Grill Experience is £130 a head for the whole table, served until 10.30pm: a Comté gougère, an oyster, the soufflé, the Wellington and a vanilla cheesecake.

The kitchen belongs to Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, which also runs the River Restaurant and Restaurant 1890 in the hotel, as the Savoy’s questions page explains; the Savoy’s own chefs cook for Gallery and the bars. Beside the main room there is a Chef’s Table that looks into the kitchen and a Wine Room where a sommelier leads the tasting. Groups and private dining go through Gordon Ramsay’s events team on 020 7592 1373.

Guests who wrote about the Grill in the Google reviews of the Savoy collected on 4 October 2026 talk mostly about the staff. A family celebrating a birthday at the Grill on 24 June 2026 asked for Piña Coladas, which were off the cocktail list, and the bar made them anyway. A party of 10 writing in September 2026 met in the American Bar, where a musician sang at the piano, and moved on to the Grill for dinner. A visitor writing in July 2025 called the Wellington «just unbelievably good»; one in October 2025 summed up dinner and drinks as «expensive but fantastic».

Savoy Grill: your questions

How many Michelin stars does the Savoy Grill have?

None. The 2026 MICHELIN Guide lists the Grill in its selection, French in cuisine and £££ in price; on the same page Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay, in the same hotel, carries the star.

What is the dress code at the Savoy Grill for lunch?

The same as at dinner: Gordon Ramsay Restaurants asks guests to avoid shorts, tracksuits, hoodies and hats, and the hotel refuses sports jerseys. Neither page sets a separate rule for lunch.

How much is the Beef Wellington at the Savoy Grill?

£66 on the à la carte. On the weekday set lunch it is a £26 supplement on the £59 or £66 price, and it is the main course of the £130 Savoy Grill Experience.

Is this the same restaurant as Harry’s Savoy Grill?

No. This page is about the Savoy Grill inside the Savoy hotel on the Strand, London WC2R 0EZ. A search for the name also asks who owns Harry’s Savoy Grill, a different restaurant that is not one of the Savoy’s.

Who runs the Savoy Grill?

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, which runs the River Restaurant and Restaurant 1890 in the same hotel; bookings and menus are on its site.

Can I bring children to the Savoy Grill?

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome and there is a children’s menu.

Is there a set menu or a pre-theatre menu?

Yes, from Monday to Friday until 5.45pm: £59 for 2 courses and £66 for 3. On 16 October 2026 the set lunch and the pre-theatre menu had the same dishes.

How do I book a table?

Online, through the booking form on Gordon Ramsay’s site for up to 10 people or OpenTable from the Savoy’s page, or by telephone on 020 7592 1600. Larger parties go through the groups line, 020 7592 1373.
