The choice, in short

Why choose Capella Singapore

A long treatment in a room with its own garden, with a resort’s pools and restaurants round it.

Prices

When to look elsewhere

Most massages on the menu start at 90 minutes, and every price is «++»: S$330 comes to S$395.67 with the 10% service charge and 9% GST, by our arithmetic.

A spa named after a constellation

On level one of Capella Singapore, in the trees of Sentosa.

Auriga takes its name from a constellation of the northern hemisphere and builds its treatments on the phases of the moon. The menu has a New Moon massage, with a copper gua sha tool and cupping, and a Full Moon massage for the body and the scalp, each S$350++ for 90 minutes and S$450++ for 120. The Signature Moon Ritual lasts 3 hours and costs S$650++: a scrub, a wrap, a massage and a facial, matched to the lunar phase of the day if the guest wishes.

The spa has 9 treatment suites, 4 of them for couples, and the hotel’s fact sheet gives each a private outdoor garden and the whole more than 1,114 m². Men and women have separate areas, each with a vitality pool, a herbal steam room, an ice fountain and experience showers, and there is a relaxation lounge. The fact sheet lists a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star rating for the spa from 2013 to 2026.

Skincare comes from 4 houses: Dr. Levy for the facials built on plant stem cells and cold, Margy’s Monte Carlo for the collagen masks and body wraps, Biologique Recherche for a facial made to measure after an analysis of the skin, and Ground Wellbeing for a sleep ritual with geranium and jasmine. 2 treatments draw on the region: Senja Sunyi works with warm moon stones, and Balot Ng Aruga follows a lulur scrub with a banana body wrap.

Round the spa is the resort. Capella Singapore joins 2 colonial bungalows of the 1880s to a curving wing by Foster + Partners, in 30 acres of garden on a knoll. Its 3 pools step down the slope and open from 7am to 7pm, says the guest directory; Fiamma serves breakfast until 11am and Bob’s Bar has a terrace for the sunset. Guests write on Google of peacocks walking the lawns.

A night here puts the spa a buggy ride from the bedroom. Each of the 38 villas has a terrace with a plunge pool of 3 m × 3 m, and every stay includes the gym and an afternoon tea in The Living Room, on the guest benefits page; the fact sheet adds a minibar free except for alcohol. The hotel’s page in this guide gives the rooms one by one, with dated prices.
