Capella suits a Singapore stay with time by the pools, from S$1,494 for one night for 2 adults at the lowest seller Google showed. For days spent walking straight out into the city, I would choose a central hotel.

The curved edge of one of the pools: green mosaic under rippling water, a frangipani beside it and parasols on the terraces below.
  1. The room to request

I would ask for a Premier Garden Room if a private pool is not essential: 77 m² and a balcony, with the main building’s shared pools for swimming.

  2. The November price window

From 6 to 12 November 2026, single nights range from S$1,497 to S$1,556 in the calendar read on 13 October 2026. The highest shown is S$35,970 on 31 December 2026.

  3. Allow for the spa

Allow for a treatment separately: at Auriga Spa, Senja Sunyi costs S$330 for 90 minutes, with service charge and GST added, on the September 2026 menu.

  4. Catch the free shuttle

Have your booking confirmation ready for the free shuttle to VivoCity and Resorts World Sentosa; the hotel advises arriving 5 minutes before departure, and seats go to whoever arrives first.

What Capella is

The resort opened in 2009 as the flagship of the Capella brand, on land that the MICHELIN Guide says was once a British military fortress. At its centre are 2 restored Tanah Merah colonial bungalows of the 1880s, white with red-tiled roofs; behind them a contemporary wing by Foster + Partners curves through the trees, and the hotel’s home page counts 113 rooms, suites, villas and manors in 30 acres of grounds. Guests write of peacocks walking the lawns: one passed a breakfast table in August 2026.

People choose it for the space. The smallest room is 77 m² with a balcony; each of the 38 villas has a terrace with a 3 m × 3 m plunge pool, and a buggy takes its guests to the door. The 3 pools step down the slope below the main building, open from 7am to 7pm. Auriga Spa has 9 treatment rooms, and every stay includes an afternoon tea in The Living Room; the minibar’s soft drinks are free, on the fact sheet.

Sentosa is an island of its own: the hotel’s shuttle leaves every 30 minutes for Resorts World Sentosa and VivoCity, and a taxi pays the island’s gantry. On Google Hotels a night for 2 ran from S$1,631 to S$2,158 between October 2026 and September 2027, service charge and GST inside. Guests who write about the bill call it expensive; half of them add that the service and the grounds are worth it.

One Lume

Lumina Guide 2027

Gives more than the other hotels of its place and price range.

Capella Singapore stands on a knoll of Sentosa Island, in Singapore: 38 villas, each with its own plunge pool, and 2 colonial bungalows of the 1880s joined to a curving wing by Foster + Partners.

How Lumi are awarded

Those who come back

Among the hotel’s regulars, a guest writing in March 2026 describes the family’s routine of breakfast at Fiamma, afternoon tea, an evening swim and sunset dinner at Bob’s Bar. It was their third stay. A guest writing in March 2021 notes upgraded rooms after a wedding there in 2013 and subsequent staycations. For a family writing in September 2026, the reassuring detail is arriving to find the cot and nappy bin already set up.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Capella Singapore’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The resort is quiet and green, an escape from the bustle of the city, and a private trail leads down to Palawan Beach; a few write that Sentosa means a taxi or the hotel’s shuttle.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of large rooms with a bath apart from the shower, of villas with a small pool of their own and of cots set up before a family arrives; one guest, in May 2025, finds the rooms a little tired.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests name the staff who greet them by name, the buggies that carry them through the grounds and the staff who contact them before arrival; the 3 pools, the spa and the peacocks on the lawns recur.

  4. Breakfast

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast at Fiamma is a buffet with dishes cooked to order from a menu; one guest recommends the minute steak sandwich, and 2, in 2025 and 2026, wish the buffet were wider.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. Guests call the hotel expensive; those content with the bill write that the service and the grounds are worth it for an occasion, the others name a room near S$2,000 a night and the spa’s prices.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 15 March 2023 to 7 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Singapore: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 12 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Good to know before you book

  • The hotel has no beach of its own. It stands on a knoll, and a private trail leads down to Palawan Beach, a public beach 726 metres and 10 minutes away on OpenStreetMap’s paths; Condé Nast Traveller warns that the walk back up is steep. Booking.com and the MICHELIN Guide list the hotel as «Beachfront».

  • Rates and menus are quoted «++»: a 10% service charge, then 9% GST on both, 19.9% in all. On 12 October 2026 the hotel’s own link on Google Hotels showed S$2,158.20 for a night, S$358.20 of it charge and tax on a room of S$1,800.

  • The hotel publishes the pools’ hours, 7am to 7pm, and no rule on which pool children may use. The split into a pool for adults, a pool for families and a lap pool comes from 3 reviews that agree: The Times, Condé Nast Traveller and Expedia’s summary. The Times puts the adults’ infinity-edge pool at the top and an adults-only lap pool at the bottom.

  • A car or taxi entering Sentosa pays the island’s admission at the gantry: S$6 from 7am to 11:29am and from 1:31pm to 5pm, S$2 at other hours, says Sentosa. The hotel lists free admission to Sentosa for guests in residence, and Sentosa says hotel guests may be issued a QR code; neither page says how that reaches an arriving taxi’s fare.

  • There is no airport shuttle. The hotel’s free shuttle runs only to Resorts World Sentosa and VivoCity; Booking.com lists «Airport shuttle» among the amenities. The hotel arranges airport transfers at a price it does not publish.

  • A villa’s private pool is a plunge pool of 3 m × 3 m, on the room page. Time Out calls it small beside those of Raffles Sentosa, and a guest in March 2026 describes «a dipping pool». The 57 Premier rooms and the 11 suites have no pool of their own; the 4 Constellation Rooms have a Jacuzzi.

  • One pet of up to about 15 kg stays in each room or villa, on a leash outside it and never left alone inside, says the pets page. Pets may sit at the outdoor tables of Fiamma, Cassia and Bob’s Bar. They are kept out of the indoor dining rooms, The Living Room, the spa, the pools and the villas’ plunge pools.

  • Some rates leave breakfast out. The Telegraph’s review priced it at S$58, and Google Hotels lists it as an extra charge. The Sentosa Staycation includes it for 2.

Questions before you book

What kind of hotel is Capella Singapore?

A 5-star resort of 113 rooms, suites, villas and manors in 30 acres of Sentosa Island, at 1 The Knolls, opened in 2009 as the flagship of the Capella brand. At its centre are 2 restored Tanah Merah colonial bungalows of the 1880s, joined to a contemporary wing by Foster + Partners, says the hotel’s home page; the MICHELIN Guide adds that the land was once a British military fortress and that the hotel hosted the 2018 summit between the United States and North Korea.

It appears in the portfolio of Pontiac Land Group, is run by Capella Hotel Group and belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World. Its own pages list a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star rating for the hotel and the spa every year from 2013 to 2026, one MICHELIN Key in 2025 and 2026, and number 97 on the extended list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels for 2026. One review counts 112 rooms: the fact sheet of October 2026 adds up to 113. The MICHELIN Guide’s page speaks of a golf course: the hotel has none, and Sentosa Golf Club is a separate club 22 to 26 minutes away on foot.

What are the rooms, suites and villas like?

The fact sheet of October 2026 counts 113 keys in 9 categories: 40 Premier Garden Rooms and 17 Premier Seaview Rooms of 77 m², 4 Constellation Rooms of 109 m², 7 Sentosa Suites of 86 m², 4 Capella Suites of 100 m², 35 One-Bedroom Villas of 166 m², 3 Two-Bedroom Villas of 233 m², 2 Colonial Manors of 500 m² and the Capella Manor of 576 m². Rooms and suites are in the main building, each with a balcony, a bath beside a separate rain shower and 2 basins, for 2 adults and one child; the villas stand in the grounds.

According to their own pages on the official site, read on 15 October 2026, a One-Bedroom Villa takes 2 adults and one child, or 3 adults, and a Premier Seaview Room has a king-size bed. The Times writes of villas with one to 3 bedrooms: the villas have one or 2, and the houses with 3 bedrooms are the manors. The bathrooms carry Bamford toiletries, according to the room pages on the official site, read on 15 October 2026.

Which rooms and villas have a private pool?

The 38 villas and the 3 manors. Each villa, the 35 with one bedroom and the 3 with 2, has a private plunge pool of 3 m × 3 m on its terrace, says the Two-Bedroom Villa page. The Capella Manor has a private lap pool of 71 m² on its own page, where the accommodation page’s card says «plunge pool»; each of the 2 Colonial Manors has a private outdoor pool.

The 4 Constellation Rooms have a private Jacuzzi on the balcony and no pool. The 57 Premier rooms and the 11 suites share the hotel’s 3 pools. Time Out calls the villas’ plunge pool small beside those of Raffles Sentosa Singapore; a guest in July 2026 writes of the private pool and complete privacy of a One-Bedroom Garden Villa, one in March 2026 of «a dipping pool».

What are the pools like, and which one is for children?

There are 3 outdoor pools, set in tiers down the slope below the main building and open daily from 7am to 7pm, says the guest directory of August 2026. No indoor pool is listed; heating, a lifeguard and a children’s pool are not published, so ask if one matters.

The hotel publishes no rule on who uses which pool. 3 reviews agree on one pool for adults, one for families and a lap pool: The Times, Condé Nast Traveller and Expedia’s summary. The Times alone says where: an infinity-edge pool for adults at the top, a family pool in the middle and a slender adults-only lap pool below. Pets are kept out of the pools and off the pool decks.

What are the restaurants and bars, and when are they open?

The guest directory of August 2026 gives 2 restaurants and 2 bars. Fiamma, Italian, on level one: lunch from 12pm to 3pm, aperitivo from 2:30pm to 6pm, dinner from 6pm to 10:30pm with last orders at 10pm; the day-pass page adds breakfast from 7am to 11am. Cassia, Cantonese, 82 seats on level 4: lunch from 12pm to 2:30pm, dinner from 6pm to 10pm, last orders half an hour before each closing. Bob’s Bar, on level 2, serves local dishes and cocktails from 3pm to 11pm on Monday and Tuesday and from 12pm to 11pm from Wednesday to Sunday. The Pineapple Room, on level 4, serves cocktails from 5pm to 11pm daily. In-room dining runs for 24 hours, on the fact sheet.

Fiamma’s Sunday Champagne brunch starts from S$158++ a person on its page, and the hotel’s gift shop sells it with Champagne for S$285.36 a person, which is S$238++ by our arithmetic; its Tuesday Pizza Club is S$48++, S$24++ for a child of 12 or under. Expedia counts «two on-site restaurants» and leaves out the 2 bars. The hotel’s home page still carries an undated notice that Fiamma’s space is «temporarily closed» for works: the directory of August 2026 prints its hours, and guests name the restaurant in reviews of September and October 2026.

Is there an afternoon tea at Capella Singapore?

There are 2. Staying guests take afternoon tea and refreshments at no charge in The Living Room, which is open from 9am to 9pm: they are among the benefits of every stay.

A press release of 22 May 2026 announced a paid Afternoon Tea, the hotel’s first, from 26 June 2026: every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at Tanah Merah I, one of the 2 colonial bungalows, at S$88++ a person and S$44++ for a child of 12 or under. The release names a pineapple sorbet, a Brittany blue lobster roll and scones with clotted cream and house-made pineapple jam, for the pineapple plantations Sentosa once had.

What is breakfast like, and is it included?

Breakfast is served at Fiamma from 7am to 11am. Guests describe a buffet with dishes cooked to order from a menu: one in September 2026 recommends the minute steak sandwich; one in August 2025 found the eggs and congee well prepared, the laksa and dim sum passable and the service slow.

It is part of some rates and outside others. Google Hotels lists breakfast as an extra charge and The Telegraph’s review priced it at S$58; the Sentosa Staycation includes it for 2, and the gift shop sells one night in a Premier Garden Room with breakfast for 2 at S$1,498.75.

Expedia describes a hotel «near Marina Bay Sands Skypark», which is 8.7 km away by road. Google Hotels puts Universal Studios 2 km away: its entrance is 1.25 km on foot and 2.8 km by road.

It is for guests with a key card or a booking confirmation, and seats go to whoever comes first.

A car or taxi pays Sentosa’s admission at the gantry: S$6 from 7am to 11:29am and from 1:31pm to 5pm, S$2 at other hours, added to a taxi’s fare, says Sentosa.
