The choice, in short
Why choose Chewton Glen
A spa day for 2, or an evening after work, a few minutes from the New Forest coast.
Spa daysWhen to look elsewhere
Under-17s are kept out of the saunas, steam rooms and hydrotherapy pool, and the hotel’s terms add a discretionary 12.5% service charge to spa bookings.
Other country spasPools, heat and 12 treatment rooms
From the spa’s pages and its treatment brochure, read on 17 October 2026.
The Spa & Country Club gathers treatments, pools, hydrotherapy, a gym, tennis and pickleball on the 130-acre estate, which the hotel places «only moments from the coastline». Its pools page lists a heated 17-metre indoor pool for lengths, a heated outdoor pool open from April to October, a hydrotherapy pool with jets for tired legs after a walk, and an outdoor whirlpool. Towels are laid out by the pools, with lockers and showers close by.
Yes, there is a sauna. The facilities page names aromatherapy saunas, crystal steam rooms, a communal steam room by the pool and cold drench showers. There are 12 treatment rooms, one of them for 2 people, and a Nail Studio; the gym has Technogym equipment with a Kinesis wall, beside a spin studio and more than 60 classes a week for members. A Pool Bar serves food on a sun terrace, and 2 indoor and 2 outdoor courts take tennis and pickleball.
The treatment brochure works with 5 houses: Oskia, Decree and Seabody, the last made from Atlantic algae, for faces and bodies, Mii for nails and Monpure for the scalp. Therapists trained by the Amethyst Trust, for people being treated or treated in the past for cancer, can be asked for. Prices change with the day: a 60-minute warm oil massage is £155 from Monday to Thursday and £175 from Friday to Sunday, and a discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to each treatment.
2 things lie beyond the spa building. Couples staying in a treehouse can book Tree Top Tranquility for Two, a 90-minute massage ritual in their own treehouse, at £550 a couple from Monday to Thursday and £590 from Friday to Sunday. And the spa books a private saltwater sauna at Avon Beach, about 3.5 miles away: 65 minutes for up to 7 people for £70, travel not included, though reception can arrange it.
Visitors write about the water first. In October 2026 a guest found the spa spotless, with everything working and plenty of towels; in July 2026 a guest who spent an evening there with their mother liked the large pool, the separate hydrotherapy room and the steam rooms, and the free cold water. A guest on a spa day in June 2026 found the pool area a little tired, missed music in the relaxation rooms and heard a loud fridge in the dining area, and a family in July 2026 found the indoor pool very cold. In January 2026 a parent left unhappy that children could swim only in 2 sessions of 45 minutes a day.
