Grand Hôtel Stockholm spa: the Nordic Spa’s pools and saunas, who pays what to get in, and treatment prices
Grand Hôtel Stockholm spa is the Nordic Spa & Fitness: warm, hydromassage and cold-water pools, a steam room and a dry sauna. Booking.com’s fine print, read on 11 October 2026, gives a spa fee of 750 kronor per person per entrance; the hotel’s own pages print none for people staying.

The choice, in short
Why choose Grand Hôtel Stockholm
A sauna, a cold plunge and a massage under the same roof as your room, or as a visit of 2 hours from the city.
PricesWhen to look elsewhere
A spa fee on top of the room, by Booking.com’s fine print and several guests’ accounts; closed to under-16s; and a time for the pools has to be reserved.
Other Stockholm spasSauna, then the cold pool, as in the archipelago
Read on the hotel’s spa pages on 11 October 2026; the 750 kronor fee for people staying comes from the fine print of Booking.com’s listing, read the same day, and from no page of the hotel’s.
The hotel built its spa on a Stockholm habit: sit in a sauna, then drop into cold water, «just like in the skerries». The materials are Swedish too, granite from Grythyttan and rauk stones from Gotland. The list of what is there runs to a pool the hotel calls late-summer warm, a hydromassage pool, a cold-water pool, a steam room, a dry sauna, an experience shower and a cold bucket shower, then a relaxing area and a quiet room. Tea, fruit, water and sparkling water are on the same list, and a Fitness bar serves breakfast, health drinks and lunches to eat there or take away.
Who pays what is the part to settle before arriving. The Deluxe Room page promises «complimentary access to our exclusive Fitness Center» and says nothing of the pools, and none of the hotel’s spa pages we read prints a fee for people staying. Booking.com’s fine print for the hotel is plain: «The spa fee is SEK 750 per person per entrance», with a time to be reserved in advance. The fee falls away with a treatment, since the day spa page says entrance is included with one, and with the room package «A Grand Spa Experience».
Visitors who are not staying buy the Nordic Bath de Luxe, 2,150 kronor for «as long as it takes, but at least 2 hours». It is a bathing ritual done at your own pace with the spa’s instructions: dry brushing, sauna and cold water, a Scandinavian cranberry scrub, a face mask and a hair pack. The booking site adds a glass of Champagne and a homemade chocolate, and the dry brush goes home with you. 2 versions start in the Cadier Bar with the Grand Breakfast: Grand Start, with the bathing ritual, costs 2,350 kronor from Monday to Thursday, and Head Start, with a 45-minute shoulder, neck and back massage and the pools, costs 2,550 kronor any day.
The massage list is short and priced by the clock: 2,295 kronor for 60 minutes, 2,495 for 75 and 2,795 for 90, as a classic Swedish massage or the gentler Harmony. The spa itself advises 75 minutes at least. Its 3 signature treatments are longer: Grand Flow, 90 minutes of dry brushing, cupping and massage for 3,195 kronor; Nordic Beauty, 90 minutes with a cranberry scrub, a private steam bath, a massage and a facial for 3,495; and Nordic Detox, 2 hours of connective-tissue massage, cupping, gua sha and heat for 3,795. Facials begin with a skin analysis and run from 2,695 kronor for a tailor-made 60 minutes to 4,695 for the 90-minute Triple Crown Red Carpet with microcurrent.
2 rooms are sold by the hour. Each spa suite has its own sauna, a pool for 2, a lounge with treatment beds and a separate massage room, and looks over the waterfront to the Royal Palace. Suite Treat is 7,900 kronor for 2 people for 2 hours, with something to drink and nibbles, and 1,050 kronor for each extra person; alcohol and treatments are added to that. Honeymoon, 3 hours for 2 with scrub, steam, a massage each, the bath and Champagne, is 11,500 kronor.
Of the 2,000 Google reviews we hold, 95 mention the spa, the pools, the sauna or a massage, by our count, and 69 of those give 5 stars. A guest in September 2026 described a spacious spa with large massage rooms and excellent therapists; one in August 2025 wrote of separate and mixed sections, a pool with fire features and a relaxation room with personal headsets. The complaints are about the bill. In January 2026 a guest called the extra cost disappointing at the room price; a guest from France wrote in July 2026 of €70 per person per day; one in June 2026 had been told at booking of 3 free pools and found the spa pool charged apart.
From the reservation to the quiet room
- Reserve your time
Hotel guests are asked to contact the hotel in advance for an entry time; the spa package page gives spa@grandhotel.se for it. Treatments and day packages are booked online, by email or on +46 8 679 35 75.
- Swimwear, and little else
Towels, bathrobes and slippers are included. Swimwear is yours to bring.
- Leave the telephone behind
The spa asks guests who have brought a mobile phone or a computer to leave it in the locker.
- Warm, hot, cold
Dry sauna or steam room first, then the cold-water pool or the cold bucket shower: the hotel’s own idea is a sauna followed by a dip. The warm pool and the hydromassage pool fill the rest of the visit.
- Allow 75 minutes
Full-body massages last 60 to 90 minutes and the spa recommends at least 75. If time is short there are targeted massages of 45 minutes; the one for back, neck and shoulders costs 2,195 kronor.
- Tea and the quiet room
Tea, fruit and water come with the visit, and there is a relaxing area and a quiet room. The Fitness bar serves lunch if you want to stay on.

One package puts the spa inside the room rate

«A Grand Spa Experience» is the rate to look for if the pools are the reason for the stay: entrance to the Nordic Spa & Fitness, the breakfast buffet at the Veranda, check-out at 2pm and Wi-Fi. Its terms are strict: selected dates, payment in full when booking, no refund, and a line that reads «Can only be booked up to 7 days prior arrival». After booking, the hotel asks for an email to the spa with the hour you would like. The hotel guide has the room categories and what a night costs.
The hotel, rooms and guest reviewsAn outdoor pool with a view, a rooftop pool, a Japanese bath
3 hotel spas a traveller in Stockholm might weigh against the Grand Hôtel’s, each from its own page, read on 11 October 2026.
The Grand Hôtel’s spa is indoors, in stone, with nobody under 16. The Nest, at Downtown Camper by Scandic, is the sociable opposite: an outdoor pool with «milewide views of Stockholm», a sauna, cocktails and music, sold in slots of 2 hours 15 minutes at 445 kronor from Monday to Thursday and 595 kronor from Friday to Sunday. It shares the minimum age of 16.
Selma City Spa, whose hotel packages are sold with the Clarion Hotel Sign, has a heated rooftop pool, a sauna, a gym and a lounge; its Pool Club sells 3 hours in the pool by time slot. Yasuragi, at Hasseludden, 20 minutes from the centre by its own reckoning, is a Japanese bath with warm spring pools, a steam salt sauna and a dry sauna: the Day Package, with lunch, starts at 890 kronor and the evening one, with dinner, at 1,090.

Grand Hôtel Stockholm spa: your questions
Is the spa included in the room rate at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm?
The gym is, on the hotel’s room page. For the pools and saunas the hotel’s pages print no fee for people staying; Booking.com’s fine print, read on 11 October 2026, gives a spa fee of 750 kronor per person per entrance, and guests in 2023 wrote of paying that sum. The day spa page says a booked treatment includes entrance, and the package «A Grand Spa Experience» lists it.
Can I use the spa without staying at the hotel?
Yes. The day spa sells the Nordic Bath de Luxe at 2,150 kronor, and 2 packages with breakfast in the Cadier Bar at 2,350 and 2,550 kronor. A treatment booked on its own also includes entrance, the same page says.
What are the opening hours?
The pools, saunas and gym open from 6am to 10pm on weekdays and from 8am to 9pm at weekends. Treatments run from 9am to 9pm every day (hours page).
How much is a massage?
A full-body massage is 2,295 kronor for 60 minutes, 2,495 for 75 and 2,795 for 90. The 45-minute back, neck and shoulders massage is 2,195 kronor.
Can children use the pool?
No. The minimum age is 16 across the spa. A guest wrote in July 2026 that an exception was offered for a daughter of 14, at the full fee; the hotel’s pages mention no such exception.
Do I need to bring anything?
Swimwear. Towels, bathrobes and slippers are provided, and the spa asks that telephones and computers stay in the locker.
Is there a private spa for 2?
Yes, the spa suites: a private sauna and pool for 2 hours at 7,900 kronor for 2, or the 3-hour Honeymoon with massages and Champagne at 11,500 kronor.
Can I have a massage while pregnant?
The massage list has a mother-to-be massage of 60 minutes at 2,295 kronor, offered from the second trimester. The Triple Crown facial is to be avoided in pregnancy, its entry says.
