Other restaurantsFrom Milan to the Old War Office courtyard
A trattoria born in Milan’s fashion district, now in the building where Churchill worked.
Paper Moon was founded in 1977 in Milan’s fashion district by Pio Galligani and Enrica Del Rosso; from Milan it reached Doha and Istanbul, and London is its first UK table (The OWO). The name, Country & Town House recalls, also comes from the 1973 film.
The dining room occupies one of The OWO’s heritage rooms: olive trees rising from the floor, tall windows, terracotta, travertine marble and black-and-white photographs of Hollywood stars (The OWO, Country & Town House). The building is William Young’s New War Office, opened in 1906, where Churchill was Secretary of State for War from 1919 to 1921 (Raffles).
The building holds 9 restaurants and 3 bars (Raffles). Paper Moon is the classic Italian; Langosteria, arrived in 2026, does Milanese seafood (Langosteria); Kioku is the Japanese restaurant on the roof (Kioku); Mauro Colagreco holds the star (Mauro Colagreco).
On 5 October 2026 we read the restaurant’s, The OWO’s and Raffles’ pages, the à la carte menu, press reviews and Google’s results in Britain, where Paper Moon’s own site is not in the first 10 and the results mix the restaurant with a building firm and a Greenwich shop. On OpenTable the restaurant has 4.7 out of 5 from 252 reviews.

Paper Moon opens for lunch and dinner every day, Sunday included, as does the Saison brasserie. Langosteria opens Tuesday to Saturday and asks for smart casual; Kioku closes on Mondays; Mauro Colagreco admits only over-12s and charges £125 a head for dinner cancelled within 48 hours.
With children in the evening, Sunday is the day, when Paper Moon welcomes all ages; on other days, after 8pm, only from 12.
One mistake to avoid: trusting the hours on Raffles’ page, which says noon to 11pm daily. The OWO’s more detailed page closes lunch at 3pm and reopens at 5.30pm.
