Gritti Palace restaurants: Club del Doge, the terrace on the Grand Canal and Bar Longhi, with prices

Gritti Palace restaurants are one chef’s cooking in 3 settings on the Grand Canal: Club del Doge for dinner, the Gritti Terrace for lunch from April to October, and Bar Longhi. Tables are booked on OpenTable or by telephone, and no page read keeps them for people staying.

When to look elsewhere

Club del Doge asks for formal dress at prices to match, and 3 reviewers between December 2025 and June 2026 describe slow or brusque service.

One chef, 3 rooms and a deck on the Grand Canal

Club del Doge is the restaurant. The terrace and the bar share its chef and its view.

Club del Doge is the hotel’s restaurant on the Grand Canal, open for breakfast from 7.30am to 11am, lunch from 12.30pm to 4pm and dinner from 7pm to 10.30pm; its page prints those hours without closing days. Executive Chef Alberto Fol has run the Gritti’s kitchens since September 2023; in his own words he starts from the region’s produce and adds little-used ingredients such as high-altitude herbs. Lunch is the more informal meal, with dishes to share. At dinner the lights are lowered, and Marriott’s page for the hotel gives the dress code as formal.

The tasting menu, «In Essence», is 7 tastings of the house’s signature dishes at €205 a person, for at least 2 and for the whole table, with last orders at 9.30pm; a pairing of 5 glasses adds €115 a person. It runs from veal carpaccio with zucchini and sea urchin through raw amberjack, the risotto, barbecued scallops and grilled wagyu to a crème brûlée and the Gritti’s tiramisù. À la carte, the risotto «Hemingway-style», with raw and cooked scampi, lemon gel and parsley oil, is €55; raw scampi with panzanella and burrata cream €60; fried artichokes from Mazzorbetto with goat’s cheese and mint €42; pasta e fasioi with lobster and Lamon beans €51; line-caught sea bass with oysters €60; and a baked turbot for 2, €145. The tiramisù is €30 and a vanilla soufflé €40.

2 more set menus sit beside it. «From Our Vegetable Gardens to the Table» is a 5-course vegetarian tasting drawn from the hotel’s lagoon gardens: the artichoke fields on the island of Mazzorbetto and the Orto Giardino of the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer. For 2026 there is also a 3-dish menu, «Il Silenzio. Il Contrasto. La Tensione», made for the «In Minor Keys» theme of Venice’s cultural year: salt cod with potato mousse, grey mullet in saor in a lightly smoked steamed bun, fermented tomato with strawberry kombucha. At the end of that menu’s description the English page prints «650 per person» and the Italian «650 a persona», with no currency sign and no word on what the figure covers; on the English page the 7-tasting menu beneath it is «€ 205 per person». We cannot tell what the 650 buys: ask before you book it.

From April to October, weather permitting, lunch moves outside to the Gritti Terrace, along the canal with the Punta della Dogana and the Salute opposite, from 12.30pm to 4pm. Its menu is plainer: creamed cod with stewed leek and potato at €42, spaghetti with carpet-shell clams at €49, egg tagliatelle with lobster and friggitelli at €59, a «scartosso» of fried fish from the Rialto market at €58, Venetian-style calf’s liver with red Ottofile polenta at €55 and a Milanese veal cutlet at €68. In the evening the same deck is laid as Club del Doge’s outdoor dining room, from 7pm to 10.30pm.

Bar Longhi is open from 11am to 1am, with a Martini trolley and the bar manager’s wild-fennel variation on the Martini; the Riva Lounge is its deck on the canal, designed after the polished wood and stainless steel of 1950s Italian yachts. The bar’s all-day menu is served from midday to 11pm: a toasted ham and cheese sandwich at €22, penne all’arrabbiata at €32, a Caesar salad with grilled chicken at €37, the club sandwich and the Piedmontese beef cheeseburger at €40 each, a beef fillet with green pepper at €54 and a classic tiramisù at €25. Cicchetti, the Venetian small plates, are offered for sharing late in the evening.

The Gritti Epicurean School is a country-style kitchen inside the hotel, open to visitors as well as guests. The Monday class is 3 hours of cooking and a 3-course lunch for €310 a person; Saturday’s fresh-pasta class, for 2 to 4 people, is €320; and from Tuesday to Friday a half-day class begins at the Rialto market and a bacaro at 9.15am and ends at 2.30pm, for €395. The chef’s table, a 7-course dinner hosted by the chef from Tuesday to Friday for 2 to 10 guests, is €395 a person without drinks. Wine tastings start at 5pm, from €90 for 3 glasses of Italian sparkling wine to €180 for 3 of Amarone.

Guests divide by room. A party delayed by a flight in June 2026 found their table on the terrace kept for them and praised the food, the staff and the view; an Italian diner at lunch in March 2026 called the prices proportionate; and a French guest who dined in January 2026 called the dinner perfect. At Bar Longhi a visitor in July 2026 ordered «what Hemingway drank» and praised the Martini in its chilled glass. Against that, a family with a booking for the Riva Lounge in June 2026 was told it takes none; French-speaking visitors in March 2026 were refused a table on the bar terrace at about 3pm with 3 outdoor tables occupied; a diner writing in German in December 2025 waited a long time for drinks; a reviewer writing in Turkish in June 2026 says the restaurant told them it was taking nobody from outside and turned them away; and a guest in September 2025 paid $60 for a club sandwich that arrived soggy.

7 things to settle before you book

  • April to October for the terrace

The Gritti Terrace opens from April until October, weather permitting. Club del Doge’s own hours for lunch and dinner carry no season.

  • Reserve online or by telephone

Marriott’s page links OpenTable for Club del Doge, the Gritti Terrace and Bar Longhi, and gives +39 041 794611. It shows no booking link for the Riva Lounge, and a family in June 2026 was told the lounge takes no reservations.

  • Formal at dinner, smart casual elsewhere

Marriott lists formal dress for Club del Doge and smart casual for the terrace, the bar and the lounge.

  • Order by 9.30pm, for the whole table

«In Essence» is served to at least 2 and to everyone at the table, with last orders at 9.30pm.

  • Eat between midday and 11pm

Bar Longhi pours until 1am; its all-day dining menu stops at 11pm.

  • Give notice

Wine tastings ask for 72 hours’ notice and the chef’s table for 4 days. The classes have black-out dates, among them 23 and 24 October, 1 and 21 November and 24 to 26 and 31 December.

  • Check whether your rate has it

Marriott’s page says breakfast is available at Club del Doge for a fee. No page read prints its price; one reviewer, writing in Italian in May 2026, put the buffet or the full à la carte breakfast at about €53 to €55 a person.

Gritti Palace restaurants: your questions

How many restaurants does the Gritti Palace have?

One restaurant, Club del Doge, with a seasonal lunch terrace, the Gritti Terrace; 2 bars, Bar Longhi and the Riva Lounge; and The Gritti Epicurean School for classes and private dinners. Marriott’s page lists the 5 together.

Can I eat at Club del Doge without staying at the hotel?

By every sign on the pages read, yes, though none says so in those words for the restaurant. Marriott’s page books its tables on OpenTable or by telephone, the terraces page calls them «a favourite of locals», several reviewers came only to eat, and the school’s classes are «open to both guests of The Gritti Palace and visitors». Against that, one reviewer writing in Turkish in June 2026 says they were turned away with the words that the restaurant took nobody from outside.

How much is dinner at Club del Doge?

On the menu read on 11 October 2026, starters cost €42 to €60, pasta, risotto and soup €45 to €85, main courses €41 to €115, with a turbot for 2 at €145, and desserts €24 to €40. Caviar is €305 for 50 g.

Is the Gritti Terrace open in winter?

No. The terrace opens from April until October, weather permitting; Club del Doge’s hours for its dining room carry no season.

What is the dress code?

Formal at Club del Doge and smart casual at the Gritti Terrace, Bar Longhi, the Riva Lounge and the school, on Marriott’s page for the hotel.

What does a cooking class at the Gritti cost?

€310 a person for the Monday class, €320 for Saturday’s fresh-pasta class and €395 for the half-day class with the Rialto market, VAT and service included. The Monday and Saturday classes end with a 3-course lunch; in the half-day class you cook a 3-course menu.

Can I come just for a drink?

Yes: the pages of Bar Longhi and the Riva Lounge give both as open every day from 11am to 1am. The timetable on the restaurant’s home page also prints «open from April until October» under the 2, without saying which it means; the lounge is the outdoor one. Book the bar on OpenTable; for the lounge, arrive and ask, since a family in June 2026 was told it takes no reservations.

Is there a Sunday brunch?

The Italian menus page, read on 11 October 2026, lists The Gritti Sunday Brunch for the Sundays «dal 6 al 27 settembre», from 12.30pm to 3.30pm on Club del Doge’s terrace, weather permitting, with sarde in saor and baccalà mantecato among its dishes. It prints no year, no price and no later dates, and the English page does not list it; those 2 dates were Sundays in 2026, so the run read as already over.

Choose the room and the hour, then reserve on OpenTable or by telephone
