Other hotel bars

A library turned jazz lounge on 61st Street

From the Pierre’s own pages and menus, its Resy listing and Google’s results, read on 17 October 2026, with the hotel’s Google reviews.

The room was built as the Pierre’s Gentleman’s Library. The designer Alexandra Champalimaud reworked it, says the hotel’s page for the bar, in the manner of an Upper East Side residence, and the hotel now calls it a café and lounge that comes alive at night as a stage for jazz and programmed entertainment. From April to September 2026 the room also served as a gallery, where the art curator ATP.art launched its curatorial programme. Google’s card for the bar puts a visit at $50 to $60 a head.

The music runs from 8pm to 11pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and the bar prints its line-up month by month. In October the American Songbook takes 16 nights, sung by The Modern Martinis, the group led by Melanie Goerlitz and Darin Brown; Simona Daniele brings Latin jazz, bossa nova and samba on 7, 14 and 28 October, Katy Lombardi on 3, 9 and 23 October, and Jessie Wagner sang soul, pop and jazz on 16 October. The hotel’s entertainment page sets the bar in a long tradition of first-rate entertainment on the Upper East Side.

The cocktail list holds 19 signatures, 12 of them at $35. The Central Park Old Fashioned is made with Stranahan’s Blue Peak, demerara, Angostura and orchard cherry; the 101 Day Aged Manhattan, Woodford Reserve with Carpano Antica, is $40, as are Follow The Glow, built on a Gin Mare infused with Scarlet Glow tea, and the Divitiae, Stoli Elit with dry vermouth and fruit caviar. The 2 dearest are $45: Electric Avenue, Diplomático rum with lime, demerara, mint and Champagne, and Live Jive, Glenfiddich 21 with Drambuie and Orchard Apricot.

India runs through the list, as it does through a hotel that IHCL, the Indian Hotels Company, has run as its North American flagship since 2005: a Rampur Double Cask Indian malt with cherry bitters and brown sugar, an Indian GnT of Jaisalmer gin with lime and agave, Kingfisher lager from Bangalore at $12, and among the bar plates homemade samosas with mint chutney and chicken tikka. The other plates are a mezze platter, a plant-based meatball, Beausoleil oysters, shrimp cocktail, mini tuna tartare tacos with mango pearls, sliders of short rib and brisket with the house remoulade, and a club sandwich or smoked salmon toast at $40.

The wine list pours 3 Champagnes by the glass, Taittinger Prestige Blanc at $35, Henriot Brut Souverain at $40 and Duval-Leroy’s Prestige Rosé at $60, and sells a 2013 Dom Pérignon at $1,250 the bottle. A glass of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc, Marqués de Murrieta Rioja or Michele Chiarlo’s Barbaresco is $25; Heitz Cellar Cabernet and Louis Jadot’s Nuits-Saint-Georges are $60. The whiskey page climbs from $25 for a Glenlivet 12 to $170 for Old Rip Van Winkle 15 and $300 for a 30-year-old Balvenie.

By day the room once served tea. An older copy of the hotel’s site, still in Google’s results, describes a neo-classical lounge pouring traditional afternoon tea by day, and guests reviewed that tea on Google, most of them between 2017 and 2019. Today the hotel’s pages publish no afternoon tea, the bar opens at 5pm, and Shout NY, in its afternoon tea guide of 30 September 2026, writes that the Pierre’s tea has been discontinued.

Most hotel guests who mention the bar give it a line of praise. In August 2026 a couple staying 5 days praised the cocktails and live jazz, and a bartender who opened their visit with a tequila tasting. In March 2026 a husband who brought his wife for her birthday wrote of a live singer and musician; in December 2024 a family back for a 3rd year in a row called the jazz bar a must. The least happy, in December 2024, came only for the lounge and found the pisco sour poorly made and no peanuts served with it. Google’s own rating for the bar stood at 4.4 out of 5 from 105 reviews on 17 October 2026.
