The St. Regis New York: afternoon tea at La Maisonette

At the St Regis New York, afternoon tea is served at La Maisonette and carries on the ritual of Caroline Astor, the matriarch of The St. Regis, who each afternoon welcomed a select circle of friends with sandwiches, cakes and pastries. The pots hold Palais des Thés teas.

A La Maisonette table set for tea: the 3-tier stand with scones, pastries and sandwiches, 2 teapots, a flute and a wall painted with large leaves.

The choice, in short

Why choose The St. Regis New York

The ritual and the room

Caroline Astor was the mother of John Jacob Astor IV, who founded the hotel in 1904, and The St. Regis became the headquarters of her ‘400’, the New York social elite she named.7

La Maisonette has cream walls, a recessed skylight and a palette of soft pinks, burgundy, emerald and turquoise.7

The scones, plain and raisin, come with double Devonshire cream, seasonal preserves and lemon curd.3
