Lex Yard opened with the reborn Waldorf in July 2025, on the Lexington Avenue side of the 1931 tower.
The name comes from Lexington Avenue and the rail yard under the building: Track 61, the platform the hotel says carried dignitaries out of sight of the street (Lex Yard). Grub Street describes the room as a vast 220-seat, 2-storey brasserie by AvroKo, set above a 12-track storage yard north-east of Grand Central (Grub Street).
Michael Anthony kept Gramercy Tavern and took on a hotel kitchen that, in Grub Street’s account, turns out breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service 7 days a week from 6am to midnight. His New Waldorf Salad, $28, rebuilds the 1890s original with celery root, apples, grapes and walnuts (menus); the hotel also claims eggs Benedict and red velvet cake (the hotel).
The New Yorker reviewed it on 31 August 2025: seasonal cooking that is over-garnished, a lobster roll piled with 2 caviars and truffle, but service that is attentive and warm and drinks that are note-perfect, and a recommendation for breakfast (The New Yorker). The same review finds the street-level Bar Room jewel-toned and the upstairs room muted.
We read the scores on 5 October 2026: 4.7 out of 5 on Resy from about 2,500 reviews, 4.5 on Google from 121, 3.8 on Tripadvisor from 6. Resy’s reviewers are diners who booked through it; the Tripadvisor figure rests on 6 reviews.
