Wood, hot stone and cold water on 3 floors of the Crown Building

What is on the 3 floors, from the spa’s own menu and pages read on 11 October 2026.

The menu counts it out: 25,000 square feet over 3 floors of the landmarked Crown Building, with a heated pool 65 feet long, 7 treatment suites, 3 clinical treatment rooms, a Fitness Centre of 3,000 square feet, a Pilates studio with reformers, a yoga studio, a cryotherapy chamber, a cold plunge terrace and a suite for contrast therapy. The wellness page adds that each changing room has its own sauna, steam room and cold bucket shower. A hair and nail salon, its services curated by John Barrett Salon, is on the ninth floor.

The 2 Spa Houses are what Condé Nast Traveler’s critic, in an undated review, called the spa’s standout. Each is a private apartment of sorts: a double treatment room, a living area, and a large outdoor terrace with a hot bath and a cold plunge. One has a banya, a wood-clad sauna where steam comes off water thrown on heated rocks; the other a hammam, a steam room walled in marble with a heated table. They are designed and priced for 2 people and take 4 at most. The magazine’s reviewer, who had the hammam house to himself, also found a bathroom with a shower, a dressing area and a queen-sized bed.

The banya treatment follows the Eastern European custom: 60 minutes in the heat while bundles of oak or birch leaves, the veniks, are worked over the skin, then the hot bath and the cold plunge under a guide’s eye. The hammam treatment is 90 minutes of steam, scrub and bath with soaps and oils. Either can be the centre of a half day of 6 hours or a full day of 9, with massages, a facial on the longer one and dishes from a Spa House menu. Aman’s web pages for the banya and the hammam house list a fuller day than the menu does: a session in the cryotherapy chamber, an infrared sauna therapy and time with a trainer or the wellness manager as well.

Outside the houses the menu is long. The Aman New York Signature Journey, 120 minutes and offered nowhere else in the group, opens with singing bowls and works with fluorite. Aman’s 3 skincare «pathways», Grounding, Purifying and Nourishing, each come as a scrub and wrap of 90 minutes, a massage or a facial of 60 to 90, or all 3 in a row over 180. There are deep-tissue, pre- and post-natal and 2 Thai massages, and an Aman Advanced Facial of 60 minutes that uses the brand’s Japanese-made Essential Skin line.

3 floors leave room for a clinic. Medical aesthetics are by bodySCULPT: platelet-rich plasma, Morpheus8 microneedling over 120 minutes, a 45-minute HydraFacial, Lumecca and Forma, injectables, and vitamin drips with names like Reboot and Brainstorm. A licensed acupuncturist offers acupuncture, reiki and cupping. The cold is taken seriously: 3 minutes in a nitrogen-free cryotherapy chamber, 30-second plunges on the terrace, and a private contrast suite with an infrared salt sauna, a one-person cold plunge and a steam shower, booked for 30 to 60 minutes.

The pool is the part of the spa every stay includes: Aman’s booking page, read on 11 October 2026, lists access to the 3 floors with the indoor pool, the Fitness Centre, the Cold Plunge Terrace, the sauna and the steam room. The pool is heated, 20 metres long, and by the critic’s account ringed with fireplaces and chaises. A guest writing in July 2025 called the massages the best he and his wife had had anywhere. Another, in May 2026, found the water «noticeably cold», wrote that there was no complimentary jacuzzi or cold plunge without booking the banya, where the booking page lists the Cold Plunge Terrace, and reported that a sister thought her 60-minute massage good and «probably not worth the price».

On price Aman says only what is added. The single dated figure we found is in Citizen Femme, whose writer in May 2024 gave the 120-minute signature treatment as $785; with 20% service and 4.5% tax both taken on that figure it would come to $977.33 by our arithmetic. The same article says the spa is open only to hotel guests and to members of Aman’s invitation-only club, and puts membership at $200,000 and $15,000 a year. Condé Nast Traveler, in a review that carries no date, calls the spa «a perfect daycation for locals» without saying how a local gets in, and notes that club membership brings access to the facilities. Aman’s own pages settle neither point, and its menu tells guests to «dial extension SPA» to reserve.

Aman New York spa: your questions

Can you use the Aman New York spa without staying at the hotel?

Aman’s pages do not say. Its policy limits the Fitness Centre to hotel guests, residents and Aman Club members, its booking page lists spa access among what a stay includes, and the pages read mention no day pass. Citizen Femme reported in May 2024 that the spa as a whole is kept to hotel guests and club members; Condé Nast Traveler’s undated review speaks of a «daycation for locals». Ring the wellness concierge before you count on it.

How much is a treatment at the Aman New York spa?

The spa menu gives durations and leaves out every price. The one dated figure we hold is Citizen Femme’s: $785 for the 120-minute signature treatment in May 2024, which nothing read in October 2026 confirms. A 20% service charge and 4.5% local tax are added to the price you are quoted.

What is the difference between the banya and the hammam?

The banya is dry wood and bursts of steam, with a leaf massage and then hot and cold baths outdoors. The hammam is wet marble: steam, a scrub on a heated table and a bath. Each belongs to its own Spa House.

Do hotel guests get the hot bath and cold plunge?

Aman’s booking page lists the Cold Plunge Terrace, with the pool, the sauna and the steam room, among what every stay includes; the hot baths are on the Spa House terraces. A guest in May 2026 wrote all the same that there was no complimentary access to a jacuzzi or cold plunge without booking the banya, and the menu lists 30-second cold plunges on a terrace as a session of their own. The changing rooms have a sauna, a steam room and a cold bucket shower.

What are the opening hours?

6am to 10pm for the spa reception, the pool and the changing rooms. The gym is open round the clock and the salon from 9am to 6pm.

Can children use the pool?

Yes, between 10am and 6pm, and from their first birthday; toddlers up to 3 wear swim diapers. Treatments start at 18, or at 16 with a waiver and an accompanying adult.

How long is a cryotherapy session?

It lasts 3 minutes, in a full-immersion chamber cooled with natural air instead of nitrogen. The menu lists it under Advanced Wellness Solutions, beside the contrast therapy suite.

Is there a hair salon?

Yes, on the ninth floor: a salon for hair, beauty and nails with services curated by John Barrett Salon, where advance booking is required.
