Gleneagles spa: treatments, spa days and their prices, the pools and Frandy Water’s sauna

The Gleneagles spa gives treatments and spa days, and its pools come with a room: in the 1924 hotel in Perthshire, The Spa opens every day from 9am to 7pm with 20 treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room and a warm, dark vitality pool, and Gym & Swim has 3 pools and a thermal suite. Hotel guests use the spa’s own facilities with a treatment booked; visitors book a package on 01764 662231, from £190 for the Mud & Steam Ritual to £600, the £300 Gleneagles Day Spa giving an 80-minute treatment and a 2-course lunch, and a discretionary 12.5% is added.

When to look elsewhere

There is no entry without a treatment, and the pools are shared with the hotel’s families.

Other Scottish spas

20 treatment rooms, 3 pools and a sauna by the water

From the spa’s pages on gleneagles.com, its treatment list and its day spa packages, read on 17 October 2026.

The Spa sits inside the hotel, in a muted scheme of layered fabrics and planting: 20 treatment rooms, a steam room, a hot sauna cabin, a warm, dark vitality pool, a relaxation courtyard full of light and a café with a healthy menu. It opens from 9am to 7pm, 7 days a week. The massage oils are the hotel’s own, blended from Scottish botanicals; its winter wellness article says the plants come from the estate’s Flower Garden, and in January 2023 the spa began selling them.

The spa has been remade once already. ESPA’s own article on Gleneagles, from September 2017, dates The Spa by ESPA to 2008, with its 20 rooms and Scotland’s first ESPA Life wellness centre. When Stylist’s beauty director reviewed it in March 2022, it was newly renovated, with Tata Harper and Dr Barbara Sturm on the menu; the menu priced a 50-minute Recovery deep tissue massage at £145, and it costs £200 today. The hotel’s own A World of Wellness, of September 2021, tells of a relaunch with a pastel palette, balms and scrubs made from local herbs, and a menu cut to 6 signature treatments.

That menu has grown back. The treatment list now holds 8 Glen Spa treatments, facials by EviDens de Beauté and Dr Barbara Sturm, Moods massages with Therabody devices, longer wellness therapies, Thai massage and nails. The signature, The Long Exhale, is 120 minutes for £290: warm jade stones, full-body stretches, a jade comb facial massage and a scalp massage. The Highland Healer lays heated basalt stones on the body, 50 minutes for £195; the Moods «Fit» massage, 80 minutes for £230, names golfers, tennis players and hikers among the people it is meant for.

The most Scottish thing on the list is An Taigh-Smuide, the Mud & Steam Ritual: 45 minutes in which you apply Himalayan and Scottish sea salts, then mud, then sit in a private steam room scented with Scottish pine, guided by a spa host; £110 for one or £175 for 2. Expectant mothers have the Prenatal Hydrotherm Massage, 50 minutes for £195, lying face up on warm water cushions. Injectables and skin-booster treatments belong to The Aesthetics Club, which books through its own website under its own terms.

The pools are a separate place. Gym & Swim, open to hotel guests and members, has a lagoon-shaped family pool, an adults-only pool for lengths, an outdoor thermal pool of bubbling water, and a thermal suite with a herbal sauna, a Himalayan salt sauna and a steam room. Its class timetable, valid until December 2026, starts with HIIT at 6.45am on Mondays and runs Aqua in the pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.30am, with Reformer Pilates in the PT studio every morning except Friday and Sunday.

The third sauna is off the estate’s lawns. At Frandy Water, 10 minutes from the front door by Defender, a shingle-covered, wood-fired sauna for up to 6 sits off-grid by the water, with a changing room, a deck and a jetty for a cold plunge. A session lasts 90 minutes with the drive and costs £220 for 1 or 2 people and £80 for each person after, with a seasonal tariff for bookings in July and August; the minimum age is 16.

On Google, guests praise the treatments: in September 2026 one called a full-body massage the best of their life, and in December 2023 a spa-day visitor found the 80-minute treatment second to none and the lunch only OK. The water divides them: in September 2026 a guest praised the Jacuzzi and the steam room and in March 2026 another found the adults-only pool peaceful, while a guest in July 2026 thought the spa facilities needed an upgrade. The Tripadvisor review titled «overpriced and overrated», which still sits near the top of a search for the spa, dates from May 2019, before the renovation: it found only 3 small sauna and steam rooms in the adults’ section and changing rooms it compared to a school’s.

Gleneagles spa: your questions

How much is a spa day at Gleneagles?

From £190 a person for the Mud & Steam Ritual Spa Day to £600 for the Unwind and Bloom Journey, before a discretionary 12.5%. The Gleneagles Day Spa, with an 80-minute treatment, is £300; the same treatment alone costs £240, or £230 for the body ritual, so lunch and the facilities add £60 or £70.

Can non-residents use the spa at Gleneagles?

Yes, on a day spa package. Each one is built round a treatment and comes with the Swim and Gym areas; all but the tea package add lunch in the Wellness Café.

Is the spa included when you stay at Gleneagles?

Partly. Hotel guests have Gym & Swim, with its 3 pools and thermal suite; The Spa’s own facilities open to them with a treatment booked; the shortest Glen Spa treatment, the 45-minute Mud & Steam Ritual, costs £110.

Does Gleneagles have an outdoor pool?

Yes: a thermal pool of bubbling water outdoors, part of Gym & Swim, beside the family pool and the adults pool indoors.

How many saunas are there?

4, in 3 places: the hot sauna cabin in The Spa, the herbal sauna and the Himalayan salt sauna in Gym & Swim, and the wood-fired sauna at Frandy Water, 10 minutes away.

Can children use the spa and pools?

Children swim in the lagoon-shaped family pool, and the adults pool is kept for grown-ups. The pages we read give no minimum age for The Spa; the Frandy Water sauna takes guests from 16.

What is the signature treatment?

The Long Exhale, 120 minutes with jade stones, stretches and a facial and scalp massage: £290, or £355 as a day spa with lunch.

Is Gleneagles a good spa break?

For a couple or friends who want one excellent treatment inside a resort full of other things to do, yes. For a stay given over entirely to the spa, a dedicated health spa such as Stobo Castle is built for that.
