People come back for the man who runs it, too: almost 30 reviews from the past 2 years thank Christophe by name. In August 2026 one guest wrote that it was their fifth stay.

Is it for you?

As a couple the Double is enough, and the dog or cat can come too: the hotel takes both. In January 2025 one party spent 3 nights here with their dog, and they’ve promised to return.

I’d ask for
A room on the courtyard: 3 guests mention the bar across the street, and 2 of them slept badly with the window open.
Worth knowing
Getting into your room before 4pm costs extra: a guest in October 2026 puts it at €50.

Like a regular

A wall of porcelain plates above a red chair and a marble coffee table
  1. The Limoges porcelain

The Limoges plates and vases on display are a keepsake of Christophe’s mother, Andrée, who came from Saint-Yrieix, near Limoges.

  2. Why Roubaix

Its first backer, in 1861, came from Roubaix, a textile town, and wholesalers had set up around rue Greneta. The hotel likens its rooms, none alike, to the uneven cobbles of Paris–Roubaix; the beds, mercifully, are smoother.

  3. Music in the house

Before taking over the hotel Christophe was an accordionist specialising in folk music, and his recordings are on YouTube. The hotel also appears in Olivier Bellamy’s Dictionnaire amoureux de Chopin, published by Plon.

What Hôtel de Roubaix is

Roubaix has 54 rooms. It was bought by Pierre Coineau and his wife Andrée, and their son Christophe has run it since 2012. The decor pairs old-fashioned French style with fine-art photography in bold colours, and every room has its own furniture and look.

How we choose the hotels

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

What the badges are

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Hôtel de Roubaix’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. A quiet street, the metro a few steps away and the centre on foot, the Louvre and Notre-Dame included: that is what guests keep saying.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Clean, with comfortable beds, guests write; the shower room is the tightest part.

  3. Staff and service

Kind staff and a house kept with care: it is what guests write about most.

  4. Breakfast

A varied, generous buffet: nearly everyone who has it speaks well of it.

  5. Price

8 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. Few mention the price, and mostly kindly: several call it good value for central Paris.

385 guests said so on Google, from 30 October 2024 to 25 October 2026. Google reviews with text from 28 October 2024 to 28 October 2026; up to the latest 500. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Paris: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 29 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Paris:

Price: for 2, the night of 15 January 2027, from €156 on Google Hotels on 28 October 2026.

What to expect

The lounge with its shelves of games, the sofa and a chessboard on the coffee tablePhoto: Hôtel de Roubaix

A lounge to use

The piano in the first photograph is there for guests to play, and so are the board games: on the shelves the boxes sit beside the books, and a chessboard waits, already set up, on the low table. Lose a button and there’s a sewing kit too.

Good to know before you book

  • The hotel has one room adapted for guests with reduced mobility.

  • Your stay is paid on arrival, and the Paris tourist tax, €3.25 per adult per night, is settled at the hotel.

  • The hotel controls the air conditioning: in April 2026 one guest couldn’t switch it on during a warm spell, and in July another was asked not to change the temperature.
