Hotel del Coronado brunch: Serẽa at weekends, the Veranda buffet and the Crown Room on holidays

Hotel del Coronado brunch means Serẽa on Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 2pm: a Mediterranean menu beside the ocean, with a lobster Benedict, shakshuka and baklava French toast, booked on OpenTable. The other weekend table is Veranda, whose breakfast buffet runs until 12.30pm with an omelette station.

Serẽa is the hotel’s seafood restaurant, part of Clique Hospitality and led by chef JoJo Ruiz, with a patio towards the ocean and an outdoor bar. Brunch is a weekend affair. The menu leans Mediterranean: a Greek breakfast of grilled chicken, eggs, Greek salad, labne, avocado and pita; pitaquiles, which are crispy pita under fried eggs, feta and za’atar; Turkish eggs with garlic yogurt and harissa crunch. The sea is there too, in a Maine lobster Benedict on brioche, a lobster roll with fries, crudos, oysters and a whole fish sold by the pound. Steak and eggs is made with smoked tri-tip, and the biscuits with mushroom gravy are vegan.

Serẽa prints the names of its brunch dishes and leaves their prices out. What it does print are the extras. Shrimp on a salad is $14.50, chicken $15 and steak $16. The Green ‘Bloody’ Mary, made with tomatillo, cucumber and spinach, takes a bump of shrimp and caviar for $35, an oyster for $4 or bacon for $3. Mimosas come with orange, pineapple, cranberry, passion fruit, strawberry, prickly pear or mango. Until 31 October the resort’s seasonal specials add ‘Bubbles, Brine & Sunshine’ at Serẽa, 6 oysters and a glass of sparkling wine for $29. The dinner menu notes that prices exclude taxes and a 1.888% Historic Preservation Fund charge.

Veranda is the buffet, an open-air restaurant named after the 20-foot-wide veranda that ran round the hotel when it opened in 1888. It starts at 7.30am every day; at weekends it stays open an hour longer and adds the omelette station. The buffet is listed dish by dish: chilaquiles with roasted salsa roja, sun-dried blueberry bread pudding, cheese blintzes, warm cinnamon rolls, a smoked salmon station, an artisan cheese and charcuterie platter, and a made-to-order counter for eggs Benedict. The morning cocktails include a Honeybee Bellini with reposado tequila, a Tropical Mimosa and a Bloody Mary in red or green. The page gives no price. The 2 July 2026 reviews that give $52 for the breakfast buffet leave the restaurant unnamed, and Veranda is the buffet the hotel lists; a third guest wrote in November 2025 that brunch started at $53, or $60 with an omelette.

The Crown Room, with its sugar pine ceiling and the chandeliers designed by L. Frank Baum, is where the holiday meals are held. The hotel’s FAQ calls its brunches seasonal and names Easter, Mother’s Day and Christmas. For 2026 the Christmas Day Brunch is on 25 December, a buffet in the Crown and Coronet rooms; Thanksgiving, on 26 November, is a buffet dinner. 2 guests describe the last edition. One came for Christmas brunch in the Crown Room in 2025 and called the food phenomenal, though the servers forgot drinks and cutlery a few times; another, writing in January 2026, found the holiday brunch excellent and the server unfriendly.

The same FAQ counts Nobu Del Coronado among the weekend brunch restaurants. Nobu’s own page shows no brunch menu: it serves lunch from Thursday to Sunday, noon to 3pm, and its bento box is $69 on the specials list. For something lighter, SunLife Organics sells smoothies and bowls from an Airstream on the sand, mornings and afternoons.

7 decisions before Saturday

  • Reserve Serẽa

Bookings go through OpenTable or 619-522-8100. Serẽa’s own site recommends reserving early for weekend brunch.

  • Send an enquiry

Parties of 12 or more are handled through a separate form at Serẽa and by email at Veranda.

  • Take the buffet

Serẽa’s brunch is for Saturday and Sunday. From Monday to Friday the late breakfast is Veranda’s, until 11.30am.

  • Look at Beach & Breakfast

The package gives each registered adult a daily credit towards the Veranda buffet, whose amount the page leaves out. Children eat free with an adult: the offer says aged 4 and under, its terms say 5 or under, up to 2 children a room. Alcohol, tax and gratuity stay outside it.

  • Ask for the kids’ brunch menu

Serẽa lists one beside its main brunch menu. At Veranda the made-to-order counter does mini waffles and mini pancakes.

  • Prepay the Crown Room

Holiday events are by reservation only and must be paid in advance, on the hotel’s site or on 619-522-8100.

  • Park on site

The resort has an underground self-parking garage and valet at the main entrance, both open to day visitors. A diner at Christmas brunch 2025 writes of a $40 valet charge.

Hotel del Coronado brunch: your questions

Does Hotel del Coronado have brunch?

Yes, at weekends. Serẽa serves a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday, and Veranda keeps its breakfast buffet going until 12.30pm on the same 2 days.

Is there still a Sunday brunch in the Crown Room?

The dining pages read on 11 October 2026 list no weekly one. The hotel’s FAQ describes Crown Room brunches as seasonal, and a guest writing in October 2025 says the room once served brunch and is now used for private events. No page read says when a weekly brunch there ended.

How much is brunch at Hotel del Coronado?

The 2 restaurants publish their brunch menus without prices. For the buffet, the only figures are guests’ own: $52 a person in 2 reviews of July 2026, one of which says an omelette costs extra, and $53, or $60 with an omelette, in one of November 2025. None of the 3 names the restaurant. OpenTable, where both take bookings, places Serẽa and Veranda alike in its $31 to $50 band, a label for the restaurant as a whole and no brunch price.

What time is brunch at Serẽa?

From 9am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, by both the hotel’s page and the restaurant’s.

Do I need a reservation?

For Serẽa it is the safe course at a weekend; the restaurant says brunch is popular and recommends one. Veranda also takes OpenTable bookings.

What time does the Veranda breakfast buffet end?

At 11.30am from Monday to Friday and at 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. The omelette station is a weekend feature.

Can I have brunch at Nobu Del Coronado?

Nobu’s page lists lunch, from Thursday to Sunday, and no brunch menu, although the hotel’s FAQ names it among the brunch restaurants. Treat it as a late lunch of sushi and tacos.

Is there a brunch on Christmas Day?

Yes: the Christmas Day Brunch of 25 December 2026 is a buffet in the Crown and Coronet rooms. A guest at the Christmas Eve buffet of 2025, a dinner and a different meal, wrote that it was priced at over $200 a person; the brunch’s own price is not on the pages read.

Reserve Serẽa for Saturday or Sunday, or walk to Veranda before noon
