Savoury first, then the sculpted fruits, then whatever comes round on the trays.

Afternoon tea at Le Meurice belongs to Cédric Grolet. He joined the hotel in 2011, became its head pastry chef and opened his first boutique there in 2018, the year the hotel says he was named the World’s Best Pastry Chef. His tea is served in Restaurant Le Dalí, the room Philippe Starck designed at the centre of the hotel, and the mood the hotel gives it is relaxed.

The menu is a single formula, signed by executive chef Amaury Bouhours and by Grolet. It opens with savoury pieces: on the seasonal card, still the summer one when read on 11 October 2026, 3 finger sandwiches of salmon with caviar, ham with Comté and truffle, and lobster. Then come the Fruits Sculptés, his trompe-l’œil desserts in the shape of fruit and nuts. That card names blueberry, pecan, raspberry, Saturn peach, pistachio and mango, with frosted fruits beside them.

After the fruits the service keeps coming. The menu promises pastries and sweet treats “served throughout”, and Le Dalí’s page names warm madeleines, brioches and scones. The hotel also announces frozen creations in yuzu, passion fruit and coconut. To drink there is coffee, tea or a hot chocolate from La Manufacture Alain Ducasse, and the teas are Betjeman & Barton’s: Pai Mu Tan, Sencha, jasmine, Moroccan mint, Earl Grey, a Darjeeling, a rooibos called Jardin Rouge, verbena, linden and lemongrass.

Tea is where these pastries are eaten at leisure rather than out of a box. La Pâtisserie du Meurice, the boutique where Grolet sells the same sculpted fruits, was designed with the architects Ciguë in enamelled lava and Hainaut blue stone, and it has no seating.

Guests’ accounts on Google fill in the afternoon. A reviewer writing in July 2026, who had booked for 2, liked the savoury course, the frozen fruits in a heatwave, the madeleine and the sugar tart, and preferred the pecan and the pistachio to a peach found understated. One writing in February 2026 singled out a mango shell and the plum jam, and liked the herbal teas least. Another, in October 2025, had booked on the website, praised the hot chocolate and could not finish everything.

Booking, arriving and what to order beside the tea

  • Book a date online

Le Dalí’s carte offers the tea “by booking only”, and the hotel’s pages send you to SevenRooms to choose a day and a time. The food and drink line is +33 1 44 58 10 44. The hotel itself calls this one of the most sought-after teas in Paris, so fix the date first and plan the day round it.

  • The first tables

From Monday to Saturday tea starts while Le Dalí is still serving lunch, which ends at 2.15pm. The hours listed for tea end at 5.15pm, and dinner in the same restaurant begins at 7.30pm.

  • Champagne is ordered separately

Veuve Clicquot Carte Jaune costs €36 a glass, Deutz rosé €42 and Veuve Clicquot Rich demi-sec €44. Without alcohol there is French Bloom sparkling rosé at €22 and fresh orange, grapefruit or apple juice at €15. The list also has 3 vegan lattes: chai, black sesame with activated charcoal, and matcha with moringa.

  • The short Sunday

On Sunday the tea is listed for three-quarters of an hour, and the seasonal card is marked “Monday to Saturday”. Ask when you book a Sunday which menu is served.

  • The shop, for what you want to take home

The boutique is round the corner at 6 rue de Castiglione, open Wednesday to Sunday from noon until the last dessert has gone. Click and collect keeps a particular pastry for you.

  • Tea as a present

The hotel’s gift shop sells the tea as a present: Le Dalí’s page links to it under “Offer the tea time experience”.

At Le Bristol, Maxence Barbot’s tea comes in 3 stages, savoury bites, a pre-dessert and pastries, with Champagne or a sparkling drink without alcohol, every day at Café Antonia. The George V serves Michael Bartocetti’s tea with a bakery piece by head baker Guillaume Cabrol made for sharing. The Salon Proust at the Ritz pours a glass of brut Champagne and a hot drink, and says it cannot adapt its menu to food intolerances.

Le Meurice afternoon tea: your questions

How much is afternoon tea at Le Meurice?

Where is it served?

In Restaurant Le Dalí, inside the hotel. Cédric Grolet’s boutique on rue de Castiglione sells to take away only.

Do I have to book?

Yes: the restaurant’s carte says the tea is by booking only. Reservations are made online.

Is afternoon tea served on Sunday?

For a shorter time. The hotel lists it for 45 minutes late on Sunday afternoon, against nearly 4 hours on each of the other 6 days.

Are the pastries really by Cédric Grolet?

The hotel says so: its tea page presents the Fruits Sculptés as his, and the menu carries his name beside that of executive chef Amaury Bouhours.

Can children come?

The pages read give neither a minimum age nor a children’s price, so ask when booking. The restaurant’s own children’s card is a separate menu.

Is there a vegetarian or gluten-free tea?

The pages read do not offer one. The menu gives allergen information on request, and the only items it marks vegan are 3 lattes.

What should I wear?

Smart casual, the same dress Le Dalí asks for at lunch and dinner.
