I come to Six Senses to ski from the door: the hotel sits just above the Cry d’Er gondola, with direct access to the Chetzeron red run. The rooms have no air conditioning, though, only an air-circulation system: worth weighing for a summer stay.

Is it for you?

For 2, I would book Wild Cabin, where meat, fish and seasonal vegetables come to the middle of the table to be shared.

I’d ask for
A table on the Wild Cabin terrace.
Worth knowing

  1. First tracks

2 times a week, with the Own the Slopes experience, you ski for an hour before the slopes open to the public, across 140 kilometres of runs; the pass needs booking 48 hours ahead.

  2. Skiing before Christmas

From 28 November to 19 December 2026, Mountain Escape gives 10% off from 2 nights plus 2 days of ski passes; if the slopes are closed, they become a 3-course dinner at Wild Cabin. Book by 16 December.

  3. Children in the room

Children up to 5 sleep free in their parents’ room and eat free from the children’s menu; from 6 to 11 they sleep free on a daybed, but breakfast costs half.

In the guide because it is a mountain hotel built from Alpine materials: quartzite façades, local larch and oak, and slate roofs.

How we choose the hotels

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Six Senses Crans-Montana’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Several guests value the slopes close by: one says the lifts are a minute away, another walks to the centre in 5 minutes. Another finds the way out long, as it runs through the car park tunnel.

  2. Room

One guest finds the room spacious, with a large balcony and a freestanding bath. Another, in a room above the bar on the lowest floor, hears the DJ from afternoon into evening.

  3. Staff and service

Several guests describe the welcome in every department, from valet to reception and the spa. One group arriving for dinner at 7.15pm, by contrast, waits a quarter of an hour with no one taking the order.

  4. Breakfast

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. One guest remembers the house-baked breads and the many fresh juices at the buffet; another, ordering breakfast to the room, is told of a CHF 55 surcharge.

  5. Price

One guest finds that, at this price level, you get a lot. Another says even the shuttle out of the hotel was charged.

137 guests said so on Google, from 26 October 2024 to 22 October 2026. The reviews include visits to restaurants and bars without an overnight stay. The other hotels are assessed on the same 5 themes. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

  • THE CHEDI Andermatt
  • Kempinski Palace Engelberg

Where to linger

A fondue on a wooden table at Le Club Alpin

Le Club Alpin, in every season

From December to March, Le Club Alpin is the après-ski spot, from noon to 7pm, with a DJ from 3pm; from June to August it moves poolside, from 10am to 7pm.1

The Alchemy Bar table and its jars of botanicals

The spa beneath the timber ceiling

The spa covers 2,000 m²: 14,000 wooden sticks hang above the indoor pool, and at the Alchemy Bar botanicals are worked by hand.1

Good to know before you book

  • In high season, cancelling within 30 days of arrival costs the whole stay; in peak season the limit rises to 60 days. 1

  • Small dogs under 20 kilograms are welcome for CHF 50 a day; the spa and the specialty restaurant are off limits.

  • One of the 2 chalets can be booked exclusively, and the Les Cabanes rooms and Le Refuge Sundeck host ceremony and reception; Cabane Mont Blanc measures 273 m² and takes up to 150 guests.12

Your day

In the morning

Breakfast at Wild Cabin

Breakfast at Wild Cabin is served daily from 7am to 10.30am, Sundays included.

After skiing

Stretch in the Stretch Pod

Back from the slopes, I would try the spa’s Stretch Pod: 2 therapists work with long stretches and your own body weight to loosen the legs.

In the afternoon

Make an Alpine cheese

In an hour and a half, with a local guide, you make cheese by hand and leave with a Tomme d’Alpage: CHF 399 for a group of 1 to 4.

At sunset

Walk with Shoki

The sunset hike covers 12.5 kilometres and ends with a fondue; Shoki, a mountain dog, walks with the group. It costs CHF 530 for up to 4 people.

In the evening

Watch a film outdoors

At the end of the day, I would pick the open-air cinema, under the stars.

By car you enter through an underground tunnel, “like a James Bond film”; then comes a welcome ceremony with 6 local bells and the fifth-floor reception, opening onto the terrace and outdoor pool.
