W Barcelona rooftop bar: NOXE on the 26th floor, hours, prices and dress code

The W Barcelona rooftop bar is NOXE, on the 26th floor of Ricardo Bofill’s sail: a cocktail bar, a Japanese restaurant and a club, open every night from 7pm to 2am and until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Entry is from 21, in smart clothes, and the bar takes no bookings: you go up while there is room.

Who the W Barcelona rooftop bar is for

Why go

You want a drink on the highest floor above the sea, a Japanese dinner with the city below and a DJ until 3am.

Prices

When to look elsewhere

You want open air or a sunset without a dress code: Nobu’s 25th-floor rooftop is outdoors and takes no bookings, and the EDITION and the Central pour €17 cocktails on terraces in the old town.

Other rooftops

From Eclipse to NOXE, at the top of Bofill’s sail

The bar is the top floor of the building that changed Barcelona’s seafront, and it has already changed its name once.

W Barcelona opened in October 2009 in Ricardo Bofill’s glass sail, 98.8 metres tall by Wikipedia’s count, at the end of the Barceloneta seafront. Its top-floor bar was Eclipse until a full redesign of the former sky bar on floor 26, which Marriott’s press release of 11 May 2023 announced as NOXE, opening that June.

The interiors are by the international studio Black Sheep, which, by the same release, took its cues from the seabed, Catalan modernisme and Gaudí’s biomimicry. The kitchen is Japanese, in the spirit of an omakase, with an open counter and vegan and vegetarian dishes (NOXE).

Plenty of pages have not caught up. The Rooftop Guide, second in Google’s American results, still puts the W’s rooftop bar on the 1st floor (The Rooftop Guide); the first British result is a Facebook post wondering whether the sky bar has closed, and promoters still use the Eclipse name. NOXE opens every night, with a DJ session on each one in October 2026 (programme).

We read the W’s 2,000 most recent Google reviews on 4 October 2026. Guests who go up praise the view of the port and the city; on busy nights there is a queue, since the bar is walk-in only while there is room, and a check at the door (Google reviews).

From the clothes at the door to the DJ after midnight, as NOXE’s own pages and its guests described it on 4 October 2026.

Before

What to wear, and ID

NOXE asks for elegant, chic clothes: no trainers, flip-flops, beach sandals, ripped jeans, sportswear, swimwear or caps, and no sleeveless shirts for men (entry policy). Entry is from 21 and ID may be requested (FAQ). There is no cloakroom or luggage storage, so leave suitcases and backpacks behind.

19:00

The doors open

Bar and restaurant open at 7pm every day (NOXE). The bar is walk-in only, by capacity; the restaurant takes walk-ins too but recommends booking at weekends and in high season (FAQ).

Sunset

The view from the 26th floor

Through the glass you see the port, the beach and the city: in October 2026 a guest picked out the whole of the beach, the hills around Barcelona and the Sagrada Família (Google reviews). You sit indoors, behind floor-to-ceiling windows (The Rooftop Guide).

Dinner

The Japanese kitchen

Open daily until 11.30pm. On the 2026 menu, the chef’s selection for 2 is €82, A5 wagyu from the robata €55, sashimi for two €68 and nigiri €7 to €9 a piece, VAT included (menu).

Midnight

The Hyper Sessions

Every night has a named DJ session: in October 2026 Sunday is Carry On, Monday Skylab, Tuesday Moods, Wednesday Housy, Thursday Hope, Friday On Air and Saturday Satellite (programme). The club works by guest list or VIP table, and neither guarantees entry (NOXE).

02:00

Closing

The bar shuts at 2am from Sunday to Thursday and at 3am on Friday and Saturday (NOXE). Hotel guests take the lift down; the nearest metro, Barceloneta, is 23 minutes away on foot (routes).

Rooftop bars from W Barcelona

La Terraza del Central is 33 minutes away on foot, the EDITION’s Roof 36 and La Isabela 43; Nobu’s rooftop is 14 minutes by car.

NOXE or Nobu, and Barcelona’s other hotel rooftops

Floor, hours, prices and door from each bar’s own page, read on 4 October 2026, and the time it takes from the W.

NOXE is the highest of the 5 and the only one with a club and a 21+ door; it is also the only one indoors all year and the only one that does not publish its drinks list. Nobu Rooftop, a floor lower on the 25th, calls itself the highest rooftop bar in Barcelona and is open-air, from 10am to midnight, without bookings: the 2 claims hold together, one inside and one out.

In the old town, La Terraza del Central on the 8th floor and The Roof at the EDITION on the 10th serve signature cocktails at €17 from midday; La Isabela, on La Rambla, opens only from June to the end of September and pours a mojito at €16. For a sunset over the sea NOXE opens at 7pm, while the others are open through the afternoon.

Questions about the W Barcelona rooftop bar

The name, the floor, the door, the dress code and the bill: what people ask before going up.

Does the W in Barcelona have a rooftop bar?

Yes: NOXE, on the 26th floor, open every night from 7pm to 2am and until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays (NOXE). It is a cocktail bar, a Japanese restaurant and a club, indoors behind floor-to-ceiling glass.

Do you need to book the W Barcelona rooftop bar?
