The hotel gives registered guests priority at its restaurants; day visitors have expressly advertised lunch and tea options.
At a glanceGame, fondue or a table over the lake
The useful first decision is whether you are staying at the hotel or coming to Lake Louise for the day.
For visitors staying elsewhere, the hotel expressly offers lunch at Lakeview Lounge and afternoon tea at Fairview, with reservations required on the individual venue pages. Fairview and Walliser Stube say registered hotel guests take priority, while Louiza reserves breakfast for hotel guests. That makes Lakeview lunch the straightforward place to start a day-visit plan. Reserve the meal through the dining team before building the rest of the day around a table at the Chateau.
Fairview is named after the peak across the lake. Its dining room has Art Deco details, and the kitchen describes its food as Rocky Mountain cuisine, working with regional farmers, ranchers and foragers. The menu takes that into the main course: Alberta beef tenderloin, bison tenderloin and elk striploin sit together under The Butcher’s Cut. They come with confit pressed potato, shishito and bordelaise sauce. Choose this restaurant when the main event is a dinner around local meat and a glass of wine.
There is interest before the main plate too. Fairview prepares an Alberta Angus beef tartare at the table with house-cut chips and salted egg yolk. Its binchotan-grill section includes Hokkaido scallop with onion jam and brown butter, wild boar bacon with maple and juniper, and prawns with coriander and lime crema. Arctic char is served with fregola, garden vegetables, trout roe and beurre blanc. This is a menu where you can choose a full sequence of courses, with a bar open before the dining room starts.
Walliser Stube looks towards the Alps for its food. The signature cheese fondue mixes Appenzeller, Gruyère and Emmental with white wine, garlic and a little kirsch; bread, pickles, baby potatoes and vegetables accompany it. The Chateau Experience puts that fondue at the beginning of a 3-course menu for at least 2 people. Its main-course choices include Alberta beef tenderloin, pork tomahawk schnitzel and rainbow trout. Choose Walliser when you want to share the start of dinner and settle into a more Alpine meal.
Louiza takes a Mediterranean direction, using ingredients that change with the mountain seasons. It opens for hotel breakfast, has a short tapas service between 4pm and 5pm, then dinner from 5pm. The tapas menu includes marinated olives with artichokes and tomatoes, burrata, Greek salad and rucola with braised peach and passion-fruit vinaigrette. That earlier hour gives the hotel guest a way to have something at the table before a later dinner; breakfast has its own resident-only rule.
Lakeview Lounge is the choice when lunch and the landscape belong together. The venue looks over Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier, with an outdoor patio in summer. Its lunch menu includes burrata with tomato tapenade, smoked-salmon pizzette and a Lakeview Salad of Alberta greens, mulberries, seeds, quinoa and whipped feta. Visitors can reserve lunch here even while staying elsewhere. The patio is a summer part of the venue, so choose the lounge for the meal and let the season determine the outdoor setting.
A lighter schedule can be built around Fairview’s afternoon tea. The tea service runs from late morning into early afternoon and includes sandwiches, scones and pastries, with sparkling wine and Champagne versions on the menu. It requires a reservation, including for visitors to the lake. Keep that booking distinct from a Fairview dinner: the room serves each at its published time, and the meal you select determines what is brought to the table.
