Hôtel Plaza Athénée

For travellers who want the 8am rate on avenue Montaigne, and will pay more than at Le Meurice to have it.

The trade-off

The same rate costs $448 a night more than at Le Meurice³, for a room of the same 30 m².

Why choose it

Check-in is from 3pm¹⁰, and on an ordinary booking the hotel will guarantee only up to 1 hour earlier, which does little for you off a night flight. Arrive Early, Stay Late⁹ offers arrival from 8am and departure until 8pm, subject to availability and blackout dates, on every room but the Signature Suites, for stays until 31 March 2027. Book at least 2 days ahead and give your arrival time at least 48 hours before. If your room is not ready you get a hospitality room “for comfort and refreshment”, with its category, view and bed left open. For 15 to 18 March 2027 the booking page¹¹ asked $2,462 a night for a Superior Room on this rate against $2,406 on the Daily Rate¹², so you pay $56 every night for the 8am arrival and the 8pm departure together. The Daily Rate lists free sauna, hammam and fitness, and this rate does not. Ask about your bags and a shower. A night for 2 costs $2,443¹³ from online sellers and $2,047 direct, which may be prepaid and may not carry the early arrival.

The Dorchester

For a London landing, and it is the one I would book there: the same rate as Le Meurice in a hotel on Hyde Park, though the $1,504 room looks over Mayfair.

The trade-off

You can book this rate only on the group’s own site¹⁴, and it pays no commission, so do not count on a travel agent for it.

Why choose it

Check-in is from 3pm¹⁵. Arrive Early, Stay Late¹⁴ gives early check-in from 8am and late check-out until 8pm, subject to availability and blackout dates, on every room but the Signature Suites, for new bookings at least 2 days ahead and stays until 31 March 2027. Your request and your arrival time must reach the hotel at least 48 hours before. If your room is not ready you get a hospitality room until it is. For 15 to 18 March 2027 the booking page¹⁶ asked $1,504 a night for a 34 m² Classic Room on this rate against $1,438 on the Daily Rate¹⁷, so you pay $66 every night for the 8am arrival and the 8pm departure together. On this rate the first room with a park view, the Deluxe Park View, costs $2,046. Ask about your bags and a shower. A night for 2 costs $1,428¹⁸, booked direct.

The Peninsula Paris

For travellers who book direct, land very early and can live with a maybe.

The trade-off

The hotel can say no on the day, and a guest²³ whose early check-in had been confirmed wrote in June 2026 that the room was still not ready 3.5 hours later.

Why choose it

Peninsula Time¹⁹ allows arrival from 6am and departure until 10pm, subject to availability and at the hotel’s discretion. It applies only to bookings on Peninsula’s site, with its reservations team or through its partner travel agents, so an online agency booking loses it. Send your times at least 24 hours ahead. If no room is free the hotel may, again at its discretion, give you a temporary hospitality room. The home page²⁰ says it comes “always with our compliments”, so you pay nothing for it, but the hotel decides. 23 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 are blackout dates, and there may be others, so check your rate’s terms. Ordinary check-in is 3pm²². The pool and fitness room²¹ open at 6.30am and Le Lobby at 7am, so ask whether you may use them before your room is ready, and whether the luggage storage covers you that morning. A night for 2 costs $2,007²⁴ from online sellers and $1,904 direct, which qualifies, but check that the rate carries Peninsula Time.

Ritz Paris

For travellers who are staying at the Ritz whatever happens and would rather write to the hotel than study a rate.

The trade-off

The FAQ gives no hour and no price, so you only know where you stand once the hotel answers.

Why choose it

The FAQ²⁵ says check-in times can be adjusted on request, and its booking section²⁶ says early check-in is available on request at the time of booking, so ask when you book; on the website it goes in the comments field. The Forever Paris packages carry flexible check-in subject to availability. Ask the hour, the fee, whether the luggage service²⁷ covers you before check-in, and about a shower. The deposit at check-in is €500 per night unless you have paid in advance. A night for 2 costs $2,842²⁸, booked direct.

Early check-in depends on what is free when you walk in, so plan the morning as if you will wait until 3pm.

Why choose it

Check-in²⁹ begins at 3pm. You may ask for early check-in, and it depends on room availability on arrival, so ask about a fee. If your room is not ready, the 24-hour concierge and porter team stores your luggage. Ask where you can wash and wait. From Heathrow the hotel counts about 1 hour by car³⁰, with private transfers from £245 and taxis from £105, or about £100 in its FAQ. A night for 2 costs $650³¹.

The Savoy

For travellers happy to spend the morning out in London and come back at 3pm.

The trade-off

A guest writing in August 2024, off a red-eye from New York³⁴, came back at about 1.30pm and waited in the lobby until after 3pm.

Why choose it

Check-in is guaranteed from 3pm³². If you arrive earlier and your room is in the final stages of preparation, the team stores your luggage and extends the full guest facilities until it is ready. The gym is open 24 hours, and the pool, sauna and steam room from 7am on weekdays and 8am at weekends, so ask which of these you get. The terms³³ make early check-in subject to availability and warn of additional charges, so ask how much. A night for 2 costs $899³⁵.

For travellers who want the bed made and waiting whatever the hour, and accept paying for the night before.

Why choose it

Check-in³⁶ is at 3pm. For immediate access the hotel recommends booking the room for the night before, which it says guarantees it. If you do not, it stores your bags and makes its fitness facilities available for you to freshen up, the plainest answer of these 8 to where you can wash. From Charles de Gaulle the hotel counts 60 minutes by car³⁷. A night for 2 costs $2,448³⁸ from online sellers and $2,503 direct.

What happens between landing and check-in

The morning is long, and 4 things decide how it goes. On an ordinary rate the most you are promised is 1 hour off 3pm at Le Meurice, or your bags stored and the fitness facilities to freshen up at George V. After the 4 comes the hotel I would book.

The drive. George V³⁷ counts 60 minutes by car from Charles de Gaulle and The Langham³⁰ about 1 hour from Heathrow. Add passport control and the bags, and a 7am landing reaches the door around 9am, by my reckoning.
The words of the promise. The terms at Le Meurice¹ and the Plaza Athénée⁹ say “guaranteed early arrival from 8:00 AM” and also that the offer “is subject to availability”, with blackout dates possible. The Dorchester¹⁴ says “subject to availability” too and asks for your arrival time 48 hours ahead “in order to guarantee the benefit”. I would count on 8am once the rate is on sale for your dates and your arrival time has gone in. The Peninsula Paris¹⁹ says subject to availability and at the hotel’s discretion. The Ritz Paris²⁵ says times can be adjusted on request, The Langham²⁹ that it depends on the rooms free when you arrive, and The Savoy³³ that it depends on availability and may cost extra.
Where you wash. A hospitality room comes “for comfort and refreshment” at Le Meurice¹ and the Plaza Athénée⁹, with its category, view and bed left open, and the terms do not mention a shower. George V³⁶ offers its fitness facilities to freshen up, and The Savoy³² its full guest facilities once your room is in the final stages of preparation. At the others, ask before you land.

If your room is not ready you get a hospitality room until it is. It suits anyone off a night flight who wants this rate in Paris at the lower of the 2 prices on this page, on these dates. For 15 to 18 March 2027 the booking page³ asked $2,014 a night for a 30 m² Classic Room with a queen bed, against $1,958 on the Daily Rate⁴, including taxes and fees, so you pay $56 every night for the 8am arrival and the 8pm departure together. A night for 2 costs $1,469⁸ from online sellers, so count on no early arrival at that price. Breakfast⁷ runs from 7 to 10.45am, Monday to Saturday, and stops at 9.30am on Sunday, so on most days you walk in with time for it. The trade-off is twofold: the Daily Rate lists free sauna, hammam and fitness and this rate does not, and you may spend the morning in a hospitality room, a different room from the one you paid for.

What to do before you fly

3 things to settle at home.

Send your time. The Dorchester Collection’s rate must be booked at least 2 days ahead, with your arrival time at least 48 hours before (Le Meurice¹, The Dorchester¹⁴). It warns that blackout dates may apply and lists none. The Peninsula Paris¹⁹ wants your times 24 hours ahead. At the Ritz Paris²⁶ you ask when you book, in the comments field on the website.

Compare the early rate with the cheapest one. On the entry rooms Arrive Early, Stay Late adds $56 a night in Paris and $66 in London to the Daily Rate, every night of the stay, for the 8am arrival and the 8pm departure together. Both can be cancelled free until noon the day before. Plan in Advance costs less: at Le Meurice⁴ $1,567 a night for the same dates, $447 below the early rate, and the booking page says the reservation “can not be amended, cancelled or combined”. Its terms page⁶ covers stays to 31 December 2026 and ties the 20% off to booking at least 30 days ahead, so read yours for March. That rate carries no 8am arrival, so you are back to 3pm, or 2pm with the hour the hotel can guarantee.

Price the night before against the rate. On a 3-night stay at Le Meurice the early rate adds $168 to the Daily Rate. Booking the night before, as George V³⁶ advises, costs a whole night, and at Le Meurice⁵ the night of 14 March is $2,014 on the Daily Rate. After 31 March 2027 the offer needs a fresh check, because nothing published carries it further.
