You want the buffet or a meal with young children at the top tables: the buffet has closed, Joël Robuchon asks that children under 6 stay home, and L’Atelier excludes children aged 6 and under. L’Atelier and Grand Wok both close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

From the Oz Buffet to 2 Michelin stars

MGM Grand opened on 18 December 1993 with 8 restaurants; 33 years later its top table holds the only 2 MICHELIN stars in the Southwest.

The opening line-up, Wikipedia records, included the 1,000-seat Oz Buffet, a 750-seat movie-themed Studio Cafe and a restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, with 7 more counters in a food court. Emeril Lagasse opened his New Orleans Fish House in 1995, his first restaurant in Las Vegas, and Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak came in the early 2000s.

Hakkasan replaced the Studio 54 nightclub in April 2013; Morimoto replaced the Japanese restaurant Shibuya in 2016; Luchini, with its bar Chez Bippy named after a bar in the film A Bronx Tale, opened in 2023 (Wikipedia).

When the MICHELIN Guide returned to Las Vegas on 31 August 2026 with its first Southwest selection, Restaurant de Joël Robuchon was the only restaurant in 4 states given 2 stars, and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon one of 4 given one (MICHELIN). The inspectors described a salon in aubergine velvet that opens with a tableau of house-baked breads and closes with a trolley of petits fours; its manager, Sean Christopher, took the guide’s service award (Joël Robuchon).

The cheap end lost ground in 2026. The MGM Grand Buffet, a mid-priced holdover of the Strip’s buffet age, closed on 31 May, and the Jonas Brothers’ Nellie’s Southern Kitchen on 25 May (Eater Vegas). On 4 October Google still showed the buffet in its map of the resort’s restaurants (Google).

A day of eating at MGM Grand, from 6am to 3am

Hours are each restaurant’s own, read on 4 October 2026. L’Atelier and Grand Wok close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the counters downstairs stay open into the small hours.

Pretzels and cinnamon rolls

Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon open at 6, on the lower level past Fat Tuesday (Cinnabon); Auntie Anne’s has a second counter in the District.

7am

Breakfast in the casino

Avenue Café, opposite the Lobby Bar, serves from 7am to 2pm; from Monday to Thursday the Avenue Breakfast costs $23.99 and all-you-can-eat pancakes $19.99 (Avenue Café). Wolfgang Puck’s bar and grill serves breakfast from 7am to 11am (Wolfgang Puck).

Lunch from New Orleans

Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House serves lunch from 11.30am to 3pm, then $2 oysters at the bar from 3pm to 5pm (Emeril’s). At weekends Hakkasan’s Endless Dim Sum Brunch costs $58 a head from 10.30am (Hakkasan).

The first dinners

Craftsteak and Luchini open at 4.30pm. From Sunday to Thursday both sell a set dinner, $95 for 3 courses at Craftsteak and $55 at Luchini, where the pasta is finished tableside in a wheel of aged cheese (Luchini).

Joël Robuchon seats from 5pm to 9.30pm, from Tuesday to Saturday (Joël Robuchon); L’Atelier, its counter, from 5pm to 9.30pm on Mondays and from Thursday to Sunday (L’Atelier). Morimoto opens at 5 too, with a $89 four-course menu from Sunday to Thursday (Morimoto).

Wolfgang Puck serves until midnight, Luchini’s bar Chez Bippy from Tuesday to Saturday too; the Slice Shop until 1am from Thursday to Saturday, and Cinnabon and Auntie Anne’s until 3am from Friday to Sunday (Auntie Anne’s).
