London’s new hotels move into buildings that were something else: Six Senses into the Whiteley’s department store,8 The WestDill into the NatWest bank opposite The Ritz,12 Cambridge House into the 1756 mansion that was the «In and Out» Club,13 and Waldorf Astoria into Admiralty Arch, which will have overnight guests for the first time in its history.14
In London, it seems, every historic building dreams of becoming a hotel.
The dates move here too: Cambridge House was due in late 2025, then in spring 2026; The St. Regis was first due in 2023.15 16 17
Mayfair, Shepherd Market, 2 Stanhope Row · open since October 2026.6 70 rooms and 12 suites in Shepherd Market.6 For Mayfair at a new hotel’s price rather than a grand hotel’s.

Temple, 180 The Thames · open since September 2026.2 90 rooms and 15 River Lofts, near the Strand.2 For the Thames from a River Loft window: Florence Knight’s restaurant opens in autumn 2026, the pool and spa aren’t open yet.3

Bloomsbury, between Russell Square and the British Museum · open since 1 April 2026.7 68 rooms across 6 connected Georgian townhouses.19 For a London trip built round the British Museum, in a small hotel with Georgian-inspired rooms.20

Bayswater, The Whiteley, Queensway · open since 1 March 2026.8 109 rooms and suites in the old Whiteley’s store.23 For a London stay that puts the spa before the museums: the city’s first hotel magnesium pool.23

Fitzrovia, 50 Newman Street · open since 1 February 2026.9 81 rooms on Newman Street, independently owned.26 27 For a small hotel in Fitzrovia and a wellness floor with a Finnish sauna and a salt room.27

Mayfair, 37 Conduit Street (corner of New Bond Street) · opening: autumn 2026.30 193 rooms, 66 of them suites, in the old Westbury.30 For London on foot from Bond Street; the live-jazz bar is still to open.31
It opens in autumn 2026, but the first night on sale is 1 January 2027, from £1,364 for two.4
