Like a regular

The entrance corridor under palms, leading to the glass-roofed atrium
  1. The room to ask for

I would ask for a Deluxe Room with the view: on average 35 m², and only some of them overlook the Pantheon and Piazza della Minerva, so the view is worth asking for when booking.

  2. The weeks that cost less

In the calendar read on 13 October 2026 the lowest week runs from 26 January to 1 February 2027: 7 nights from €965 to €1,050. The dearest, 29 April to 5 May 2027, runs from €1,918 to €2,450 a night.

  3. The 14-seat Bellini Bar

The Bellini Bar on the roof has just 14 seats, an intimate hideaway where aperitivo is an art form and Bellinis lead the menu, with floral Negronis and bergamot-infused signatures.

What La Minerva is

The palazzo was built in 1620 for the Fonseca, a noble family of Portuguese origin, and it has been a hotel since 1811 by the official site’s account, since 1810 by the hotel historian Andrew Mourby’s. Stendhal lodged here between 1834 and 1836, while he was French consul at Civitavecchia, and on 23 November 1835 he began the Vie de Henri Brulard. After the old Grand Hôtel de la Minerve was rebuilt it reopened on 7 April 2025 as the first Orient Express hotel, Accor’s brand, developed with Arsenale Group; the interiors are by the artist and architect Hugo Toro.

There are 93 rooms and suites, 36 of them suites, from 25 to 190 m², with Rosso Verona marble bathrooms and a complimentary soft-drink minibar. The Pantheon is in view from some Deluxe Rooms, the Grand Suite with View and the 4 Signature Suites; the Classic and Superior rooms, of 25 and 29 m², promise no view. The Stendhal Suite, on the first floor, sleeps under a frescoed vault. In 2025 the MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel 2 Keys.

On the seventh floor Gigi Rigolatto Roma is the rooftop restaurant and bar, open to non-residents since May 2025: Italian cooking, cacio e pepe at €36, veal Milanese at €64, plus a discretionary 12.5% service charge. On the ground floor La Minerva Bar sits under the atrium’s glass-and-iron roof, facing the marble Minerva Rinaldo Rinaldi carved in 1854. Since February 2026 there has been a 210 m² spa underground, built around a marble hammam; there is no pool.

On Google it scores 4.5 out of 5 from 608 reviews, but 424 of them describe the old hotel: the 184 written since the reopening average 4.65. On Booking.com it has 9.5 from 62 reviews. Guests praise the staff, the roof and breakfast; the rooftop is open to non-residents too, and a table is worth booking.
