A Basque grill on level 19 with 120 seats: breakfast from 7am to 10:30am, lunch from 11:30am to 3pm, dinner from 5:30pm to 10pm; lunch sets ran from 7,000 to 12,000 yen on the January 2026 menu, service and tax included (menu).
A 20-storey tower opened in May 2025 by the Naniwa palace park: 221 rooms, Osaka Castle’s main gate 9 minutes on foot.
A week here, month by monthPatina suits a stay with time for the hotel itself: a whole floor of wellness and dining above the city, from ¥73,236 for a night for 2 adults, the lowest price any seller showed on Google. If walking home from Dotonbori is the point of the trip, its 48-minute walk makes another address worth considering.
Official siteWould you go?
Keep it among your hotels and see it on the budget globe, month by month.
I would ask for a 50 m² Deluxe Room with Osaka Castle view, selected when booking; the same category also faces the city. Its tatami daybed and bath give you somewhere to pause between outings.
For 7–13 December 2026, single nights range from ¥73,236 to ¥80,444 for 2 adults in the Google calendar read on 13 October 2026. The dearest night is 2 April 2027, at ¥177,744.
If you drive, add ¥5,000 for 24 hours in the multi-storey car park, or ¥7,000 a day for valet parking. The garage accepts cars up to 2 metres high.
The Listening Room by OJAS on level 20 is free and reserved for hotel guests from 6am to 10.30am. Take your shoes off before entering; listeners must be aged 16 or over.
Patina Osaka opened on 1 May 2025 (press page), the first hotel in Japan and the first in a city for Patina Hotels & Resorts, the brand of the Singapore-based Capella Hotel Group, in a tower developed by NTT Urban Development (launch release). 2 sources date and measure it otherwise: The Points Guy writes of «the April opening» (The Points Guy), and the hotel’s own wellness release of April 2025 speaks of a «21-storey sanctuary» (release), where its story page and the developer give 20. In 2026 Travel + Leisure named it the best hotel in the world and in Asia, and The World’s 50 Best Hotels placed it 33rd with its Nikka Best New Hotel Award; the MICHELIN Guide gives it one Key (the story).
Rooms run from the 50 m² Deluxe Room, 162 of the 221, to the one Patina Suite of 233 m² on level 17 (fact sheet, November 2025); the Deluxe Room has floor-to-ceiling windows, a bath with a rain shower and a tatami daybed (Deluxe Room). The castle decides the booking. The Junior, Urban and Patina Suites face it; the Deluxe Room and the Deluxe Suite face it only when the castle view is the one booked, otherwise the city; the Premier Room is sold with the city alone, although the Deluxe page’s link to it promises the castle and the Naniwa palace park. For 14 to 17 October 2026 Hotels.com priced a Deluxe with the castle at 164,450 yen a night and one with the city at 151,800, 8% less (Google Hotels). Reception is on level 20, and the rooms, on level 18 and below, are reached by a second lift.
The fourth floor is given to wellness, 1,400 m² of pool, gym, sauna and treatment rooms (wellbeing), and the top floors to food and drink: IÑAKI, Barin and the Nijiri tea lounge on 19, Sonata Bar & Lounge and the Listening Room on 20, with P72 cooking from local farms on the ground floor (P72). Pool and gym come with every room; breakfast comes only with the rates that say so, and cost 6,000 yen an adult in May 2026 (a family’s report). Osaka adds an accommodation tax of 500 yen a person a night (Osaka Prefecture).
Of 570 reviews read from the hotel’s Google listing, 403 carry text, written between May 2025 and 1 October 2026: 351 give 5 stars. Of the guests who write about the rooms, 97% are happy with them: spacious and quiet, with the tatami corner, the deep bath and the castle from the window; 90% are happy with the location, for waking to the castle and the morning run in the park, and 85% with staff and service, writing of staff who remember their guests. At peak times guests wait for a breakfast table; breakfast is charged separately under standard rates. There are waits at check-in on level 20, of 20 minutes and more in several reviews.

The scores come from 403 Google reviews with text, left from 1 May 2025 to 1 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Osaka: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 1 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Osaka:
Price: for two on the night of 7 December 2026, from 73,236 JPY (seen on Google Hotels on 13 October 2026).

Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed on 13 October asked ¥108,521 a night; the hotel’s own listing, ¥108,525.

Not every room sees the castle. In the Deluxe Room and the Deluxe Suite the castle view is a choice made when booking; the Premier Room is sold with the city only (Premier Room, Booking.com), although the Deluxe page promises it the castle.
Breakfast is not in standard rates: 6,000 yen an adult, 3,000 yen from 6 to 12, free under 6 (May 2026, a family’s report). The Patina Escape, Imprints and Journey offers include it. Between July 2025 and September 2026, 4 reviews, 2 on Google and 2 on Tripadvisor, describe a queue for a table at peak, of about 30 minutes in the 2 of September 2026 (Tripadvisor).
The free shuttle to the subway ended after 31 January 2026 (FAQ); Mr & Mrs Smith still lists it. The nearest exit, Tanimachi 4-chome’s exit 9, is 561 metres away, 8 minutes on foot.
Reception is on level 20 and the rooms on 18 and below, so every trip to the room changes lift on the top floor. Between November 2025 and September 2026, 6 Google reviews find the system confusing; one, of July 2026, writes that after a day you get used to it.
Menu prices include the 15% service charge and the 10% consumption tax; a price marked ++ adds both, so an extra bed at 12,000 yen++ shows as 15,180 yen on Booking.com. Osaka charges 500 yen a person a night on rooms of 20,000 yen or more a person (Osaka Prefecture).
Dogs up to 15 kg, 2 to a room, at 10,000 yen a dog a night, in Deluxe, Premier and Junior Suite rooms on level 10; no cats (pet guidelines). Expedia’s 10,000 yen per stay and 13 kg are not the hotel’s terms.
Between July 2025 and May 2026, 8 Google reviews describe a long check-in on level 20: 20 minutes, half an hour, in one case more than an hour. One of December 2025 finds it simple.

Platform scores, the MICHELIN Key and what guests write, from a honeymoon moved to the castle side to a family with 2 small boys.
Scores read on 1 October 2026
From the hotel’s Google listing, February to August 2026: a honeymoon, 2 small boys, a taxi rank, check-in on level 20 and breakfast.
On their honeymoon, this couple were moved to a room facing Osaka Castle, ate breakfast at 7 without a queue and admit they explored Osaka less than they meant to, because they liked staying in.
A family with 2 young boys found staff who greeted the children by name and a taxi always waiting at the door; only the lifts never quite made sense to them.
4 stars: a quiet hotel with a view of the castle hard to find elsewhere, but, for this guest, far from the shopping streets, so taxis were the practical way round.
2 stars: about 30 minutes to check in on level 20 with nobody else waiting, a lift change on every trip to the room and a bathroom open to the bedroom.
2 stars after 4 nights: a fine view of the castle, but cold eggs Benedict, juice that was not freshly squeezed and an address away from the walking streets.
