At Portrait, you enter from Corso Venezia and find yourself in a piazza. That, more than any suite, is the reason to stay.
What I would remember about Portrait is not the spa's marble or the name of the suite. It is the entrance into the Piazza: a place crossed, inhabited and used by Milan too. The hotel begins before reception and continues beyond the room.
You can have breakfast in the garden, return for an aperitivo beneath the colonnade and walk back from La Scala. Room, dining and city are much closer together than the photographs suggest.
The Piazza is public and lively. To choose the right room, I would always ask about the view, light and quiet: they matter more than the category name.
I would choose Portrait when Milan is the reason for the trip: an evening at La Scala, a weekend of exhibitions and restaurants, or two days spent almost entirely on foot.
