For families wanting a kitchenette, the Studios are worth considering; Google’s lowest seller price for one night for 2 adults starts at $380. If walking back from Magic Kingdom matters most, I would choose another base.

Our verdict

Giraffes in the resort savanna

The curved buildings face 4 savannas. Disney lists more than 200 animals and birds across over 30 species. Shared viewing areas offer wildlife watching too; Savanna View brings that possibility into the room. Resort View and Water View do not promise the same outlook.

Standard hotel categories sleep 2 in a king or 4 in 2 queens. Studios provide a kitchenette; one- to 3-bedroom Villas have a full kitchen, with further differences between Jambo House and Kidani. Kilimanjaro Club belongs to Club Level categories, rather than every room with a view.

Uzima Pool, Boma and Jiko make a slower day between parks possible. Sanaa and Samawati Springs are in the Kidani area, rather than the Lodge room building. Zahanati offers a gym, sauna and steam room, while the current notice directs spa treatments to the Grand Floridian.

The listed transport is by bus, and Disney flags construction and refurbishment. Magic Kingdom visits do not end with a walk home: the value lies in time spent here, especially with the right outlook.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge looks onto 4 savannas with more than 200 animals and birds: from a Savanna View room you watch them in the gaps between park visits, too.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the savanna’s animals, giraffes and zebras seen from the balconies and the shared areas; the parks are reached on Disney’s free buses.

  2. Room

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 8 April 2026 to 1 October 2026. 500 recent texts from Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Google listing, including Villas guests and restaurant visitors, with some comments not specifying the product. The four Disney resort peers have 344–500 texts each; this does not isolate a view or room category. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay at Walt Disney World, Orlando: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 1 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

What to expect

Uzima Pool

Uzima at Jambo, Samawati at Kidani

At Jambo House, Uzima Springs faces Uzima Savanna, with a gently sloping entry and a roughly 20-metre slide. At Kidani Village, Samawati Springs has the roughly 39-metre slide and Uwanja Camp water play. Choose your pool and Lodge or Villas accommodation with the 2 areas in mind.

A dish at Jiko

Jiko is a dinner choice

Jiko serves dinner, while Boma offers breakfast and dinner buffets. Sanaa is in the Kidani area: a Lodge booking does not make all these meals inclusive.

Questions before you go

How much does a night at Animal Kingdom Lodge cost?

Google Hotels, read on 1 October 2026 for 2 adults, showed $388 for 5 October, $372 for the isolated night of 1 November and $409 for 2 November. These are one-night calendar readings; the room category and final tax-inclusive total are unverified. Park tickets and meals depend on the booked offer. Source: Google Hotels.

Which view should I choose and how many guests fit in a room?

Resort View names roofs or the car park, Water View the pool, and Savanna View one of the savannas. King rooms sleep 2 adults; 2-queen rooms 4. One-bedroom suites sleep 6 and the 2-bedroom suite 8. Royal Asante lists 6 adults but only 2 queens, without explaining the other sleeping places. Hotel rooms have a patio or balcony, beverage cooler or small fridge and coffee facilities; category floor areas are unpublished. Google lists air conditioning. Source: Disney.

What does Kilimanjaro Club include?

Club Level Access categories include personalised services and secured lounge access, with refreshments from 7am to 10pm. Standard Savanna View does not automatically include the lounge. The 2-queen Club Level category names Arusha Savanna; the king category names one of the savannas. Source: Disney.

Are Jambo House and Kidani Village the same accommodation product?

The Lodge hotel and Villas are separate categories, although amenities are shared. The room page separates Jambo House Villas from Kidani Village. Studios have a kitchenette; one- to 3-bedroom Villas have a full kitchen and washer/dryer, with Grand Villas sleeping 12. Kidani Studios list a queen and queen pull-down bed; Jambo House lists a queen and double sleeper sofa. Capacity and kitchens cannot be transferred between categories. Source: Disney.

Are there really more than 200 animal species?

The Disney Holidays page says “200+ species”, while the resort overview distinguishes more than 200 animals and birds from over 30 species. The latter is the supported figure for wildlife variety. Giraffes, zebras, gazelles, kudu and flamingos are listed; shared viewing areas offer wildlife watching without a Savanna View room. Source: Disney Holidays · Disney resort overview.

Does Zahanati offer massages, a sauna and steam room?

The specific Zahanati page, read on 1 October 2026, lists a gym, sauna and steam room, but says resort spa and salon treatments are available only at the Grand Floridian Spa. The recreation overview still mentions massages; the more specific current notice takes precedence. No floor area for the centre is published. Source: Disney.

Who can use Zahanati, at what hours and ages?

At Animal Kingdom Lodge, Zahanati gym access is included for Lodge, Jambo House Villas and Kidani Villas guests; the centre lists a sauna and steam room among its amenities. No spa treatment is included in the room: the current notice directs treatments to the Grand Floridian, where they are charged separately. Zahanati publishes no fee or day pass for outside guests. The gym opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with MagicBand access; users must be 14 or older, with an adult or guardian through age 17. Lockers are available. Gym hours do not guarantee every amenity at every moment. Source: Disney.

Which pools are available and where are they?

Outdoor Uzima Springs faces Uzima Savanna: about 1,022m², a gently sloping entry, roughly 20m slide, children’s pool and 2 whirlpools. Samawati Springs is at Kidani Village: about 437m², roughly 39m slide, sloping entry and Uwanja Camp water play. These are conversions of Disney’s 11,000/4,700sq ft and 67/128ft figures. Hours and lifeguards vary; towels are included. No water temperature or fixed calendar is published. Source: Disney.

Where is breakfast served and which restaurants are available?

Boma serves a breakfast and dinner buffet; Jiko serves dinner. The Mara is the casual option, while Sanaa in the Kidani Villas area lists breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cape Town Lounge, Victoria Falls Lounge and pool bars add drinks. Jiko Wine Tasting is marked temporarily unavailable. Selected dining reservations open 60 days ahead, with up to 10 nights bookable together for Disney hotel guests. Breakfast is not automatically included in every rate. Source: Disney.

How do I reach the parks and what does parking cost?

The address is 2901 Osceola Parkway, Lake Buena Vista. Disney lists motorcoach and complimentary buses to most resort areas; the listing does not offer a monorail or a walking route into Animal Kingdom Park. Overnight self-parking is complimentary; valet is $42 plus tax per night. Google Hotels lists 3pm check-in and 11am checkout. No guaranteed transfer time for every park has been measured.

The hotel is in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area, beside a wildlife preserve, rather than central Orlando. Disney flags construction and refurbishment, and in August and September 2026 guests describe works in the lobby and the quick-service food area; anyone after quiet should ask for a room away from the lobby and the works. (Google Maps; Disney).

What category is it and what construction is taking place?

Disney classifies it as a Deluxe Resort in the Animal Kingdom area; Google Hotels lists 4 stars. Disney flags construction and refurbishment, without an end date in the overview text. Google’s calendar read on 1 October 2026 shows nights from October to January, including dates without prices; this does not establish uninterrupted room or facility availability. Source: Disney.

Are Animal Kingdom wedding venues in the Lodge?

Disney’s Tamu Tamu and Tree of Life venues are in Animal Kingdom Park, rather than the Lodge. Tamu Tamu lists 10–80 guests including the couple and requires Disney chartered transport; Tree of Life is an after-park-closing ceremony. The Lodge’s room and amenity lists publish no convention capacity or hotel wedding package; those park venue capacities cannot be applied to this building. Source: Disney.

Is Animal Kingdom Lodge open on my travel dates, with any seasonal closure?

As of 1 October 2026, recent reviews describe stays and Google’s room calendar offers rates from October 2026 to January 2027, including winter. Disney flags construction and refurbishment; the overview read that day publishes no seasonal opening or closing dates. A night without a price does not prove a closure: availability depends on dates and category. Winter room rates do not establish continuous operation of every pool, restaurant or treatment. Source: Disney · Google Hotels.

Is there a 2026 New Year’s Eve gala dinner?

The Disney dining page read on 1 October 2026 publishes no menu or price for a 31 December 2026 gala dinner. Boma and Jiko are described as regular restaurants; their presence does not confirm a gala, music or fireworks visible from the hotel. Source: Disney.

What do the reviews say?

Google lists 4.7/5 from 23,001 reviews on 1 October 2026. The overall listing can include Villas guests and restaurant visitors; it does not isolate a Savanna View room. The comparison uses collected recent texts, with explicit date periods. Source: Google Maps.

Can I travel with my dog?

This resort is outside Disney’s pet-dog hotel programme. Service animals follow different rules. Source: Official resort policy.
