Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech
At Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, parasols form a square around the pool, between the palm canopies.
I’d book a villa here for days that need go no further than its courtyard: a swim, lunch, another swim. If you want to wander out each evening and choose dinner in the medina, a riad within the walls makes a better base.
Is it for you?
In Mandarin Pool Villa, you can go from the bedroom to the water without leaving your courtyard. For a trip together with few reservations and plenty of free time, that space is the reason to book.
- I’d ask for
- A Mandarin Pool Villa, noting if you want a private-chef experience.
- Worth knowing
- The 502m² include outdoor space.

The villa beside the spa
Two Bedroom Spa Villa has a door leading directly into the spa and an 18-metre private pool. I’d choose it for a stay built around treatments, with little distance between them and your room.
Lunch in your courtyard
In-villa dining runs 24 hours a day and can arrange a private chef or barbecue. Decide which evening to set aside for it; the courtyard becomes your table for the night.
When children want to explore
Kids’ Kasbah has pottery and cooking workshops, and the farm has goats to meet. An afternoon has a programme of its own even when the grown-ups want to stay beside the pool.
What Mandarin Oriental is
Staying in for dinner can still mean a change of scene. Ling Ling by Hakkasan serves Cantonese dishes to share, with a DJ and terrace tables. Pool Garden is a place for a longer lunch beside the water.
The spa has 2 hammams with private scrub rooms. Beyond them are a heated indoor pool, yoga, and tennis and padel courts. The gym and indoor pool open from 7am to 9pm; arrange access in advance if you want to use them at night.

Distinctions
The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them
What do Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
Location
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Visitors looking for a break from the medina describe returning to the gardens. One guest also mentions aircraft overhead, adding that they were not a decisive disturbance during that stay.
Room
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The villas are described as places to spend time, with different spots to sit and carefully considered details. Cleanliness also appears in the account of a guest planning to return.
Staff and service
One guest says the butler replied within minutes; another remembers the welcome for a 50th-birthday celebration. Those practical gestures stay in the accounts after the trip.
Breakfast
Breakfast accounts mention the choice and the kindness of the staff. A family staying for 10 nights singles out the morning meal among the things they enjoyed.
Price
Opinions split over the bill. One visitor finds breakfast and the spa worth the price; another considers the overnight rate too high while acknowledging the standard of the experience.
How we count
| What | Guests’ score | Guests who mention it | Happy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Location | 7.9 | 25 | 80% |
| Room | 8.7 | 36 | 92% |
| Staff and service | 8.7 | 151 | 89% |
| Breakfast | 7.8 | 17 | 94% |
| Price | – | 10 | 50% |
181 guests said so on Google, from 11 November 2024 to 24 October 2026. Available Google reviews from 5 November 2024 to 24 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Marrakech: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Marrakech:
Price: for 2, the night of 18 November 2026, from 12,562 dirhams on Google Hotels on 5 November 2026.
When I would make this trip
The bill changes considerably between winter and high summer. I would compare the dates before the villa; August sunshine makes for different days from January.
