Behind Marrakech’s walls, facing the Koutoubia, an 18th-century royal orchard became a hotel in 1923: today a garden with 27 fountains, a Murano-glass pool and 209 keys.
A week here, month by monthLa Mamounia suits those who want palace Marrakech, the medina on foot and a garden to hide in: the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night is 5,750 dirhams for 2 adults, from 19 January 2027. Anyone after a big room at the entry price will be happier elsewhere, as the Classic starts at 28 m².

I would ask for a Koutoubia Deluxe Room, 30 to 40 m² with views of the Koutoubia mosque or of the Koutoubia side of the gardens; an Agdal Deluxe Room, 30 to 45 m², looks over the pool, the gardens and the Atlas.
In the calendar read on 13 October 2026 the cheapest week runs from 1 to 7 February 2027, with nights from 6,783 to 7,206 dirhams. The week of 21 to 27 November 2026 runs from 7,439 to 18,040 dirhams.
Open every day from 5pm to 1am, Le Churchill offers champagne cocktails and house creations that change with the seasons; its page suggests reading the Winston Churchill quotes on the menu, which inspired each of them.
La Mamounia dates itself from 1923, when Morocco’s railway company decided to build a hotel on an 18th-century royal orchard: 13 hectares a sultan had given his son. Winston Churchill spent his winters here, and a bar and a suite now carry his name. Today there are 209 keys: 135 rooms, 71 suites and 3 riads; the studio Jouin Manku redesigned the restaurants and bars in 2020 and the public spaces by the end of 2023. The MICHELIN Guide gives it 3 Keys.
There are 4 restaurants, open every day: L’Asiatique by Jean-Georges, L’Italien, by Simone Zanoni since 1 September 2025, Le Marocain at night with a violin and lute trio, and the Pavillon de la Piscine for breakfast and lunch. The tea rooms are Pierre Hermé’s. The outdoor pool measures 25 by 26 metres, is lined in Murano glass and heated to 28°C all year; the spa covers 2,500 m², with 2 hammams and an indoor pool.
Guests give it 4.5 out of 5 on Google from 9,498 reviews, 4.3 on Tripadvisor from 4,473 and 9.2 on Expedia. The garden wins nearly everyone over; in the rooms guests praise the attention to detail, and anyone wanting space takes a suite: the Classic and Superior run from 28 to 40 m² and look over Hivernage. Non-residents get in only with a booking and in the elegant dress the hotel asks for: it is checked at the gate.
We read the 500 most recent Google reviews with text, from 19 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, out of the listing’s 9,498; then YouTube videos, press articles, the official pages of the rooms, suites and riads, the menus and house rules, and the walks measured on the map. Breakfast is extra, and a sojourn tax of 49.50 dirhams per person per night is added to the rate.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 19 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Marrakech: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 1 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

From the hotel’s Google listing: the garden, the tea, the gate and the rooms.
Iconic Marrakech palace hotel with stunning gardens, refined Moroccan-style rooms, beautiful pools, excellent restaurants and bars, and a superb spa. Central yet peaceful.
Well designed garden, artistic lobby. Even though it is on a busy street, you will not hear the noise. Close to the square, easy to walk to everything.
Magical for a mint tea, and the walk through the park is extraordinary.
Security stopped us at the gate and asked the purpose of our visit. We did not like it at first, but he wanted to guide us: we had a snack on the terrace overlooking the garden.
For the quality of the rooms, totally overpriced. With 3 kids, do not take a normal room: you cannot even open the door to the balcony.

Elegant dress in every restaurant and bar. Flip-flops and plastic sandals are banned for men and women; after 6pm no shorts, even smart ones, except for children under 12. Backpacks and large bags go to the Ksar Gate cloakroom, and photography is not allowed.
The Classic and Superior rooms, 28 to 40 m², look over the Hivernage, the modern quarter; for a real view take a Koutoubia Deluxe, facing the minaret, or an Agdal Deluxe, over the pool and the Atlas.
