I would choose the Beau-Rivage for a few nights facing the Jet d’Eau, in a house the same family has run since 1865: from 25 to 28 November 2026 a night for 2 starts at CHF 694. Le Chat-Botté is closed for works, so dinner is at the Rivage Café.

  1. The suite on the Jet d’Eau

I would ask for a Junior Suite Lake View Panorama: 45 m², for up to 3 people, with balconies and the lake and the Jet d’Eau in front. The Ville View rooms face the city, so for the view I would skip them.

  2. December nights

From 11 to 17 December 2026 a night costs CHF 694 to CHF 756, each taken on its own. From 23 to 26 June 2027 it reaches CHF 1,380; for late June I would try a few dates before choosing.

  3. The car in the garage

Arriving by car, I would allow CHF 55 a day for the hotel garage, where charging an electric car is free for guests. By train, Cornavin station is 7 minutes away on foot.

  4. An hour in the cellar

In the cellar a sommelier pours 4 wines, from sparkling to sweet: CHF 90 for 60 minutes, or CHF 170 for 90 minutes with a dish for each wine, which is the one I would choose. I would keep it for the last evening.

What the Beau-Rivage is

It suits a couple who want a grand hotel on the lake, with history in the rooms, and who do not need a spa. For the lake I would start with the 35–40 m² Prestige Lake View: the Ville View rooms face the city.1234

Today there is no spa, pool or gym, and Le Chat-Botté is closed for works until 2027. In the meantime its kitchen cooks at the Rivage Café.12

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Beau-Rivage’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the lake and the Jet d’Eau outside the windows, and a city you can walk; a few notice the traffic on the quay.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the period rooms and the newly renovated suites; some find the standard rooms dated, and some hear footsteps from the floor above.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests praise the concierges, the bellmen and the front desk, sometimes by name; some found service slow at the bar and the restaurant.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like breakfast; a few mention slow service, the price of breakfast in the room or a noisy breakfast room.

  5. Price

Few guests write about the price, and mostly to say it is high: at the bar, and for rooms some find dated.

500 guests said so on Google, from 23 June 2019 to 15 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Geneva: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 20 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Geneva:

Price: for 2, the night of 14 November 2026, from 694 CHF on Google Hotels on 20 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

From 20 October 2026 to 2 April 2027 a night runs from CHF 694 to CHF 1,047, each taken on its own. From 17 June to 27 August 2027 it rises to CHF 1,012–1,380; I would choose autumn or winter.

17 June to 27 August 20271,012–1,380

Each figure is the lowest price for 2 adults of one night taken alone, whatever the room. The calendar runs to 14 September 2027; 23 to 26 June 2027, at CHF 1,380, are the dearest nights.

Good to know before you book

  • Not every room faces the lake: the Deluxe, Premier and Prestige Ville View rooms and the Junior Suite Ville View look onto the city. The lake starts with the Prestige Lake View.12345

  • The hotel is being renovated: on Google 9 reviews since January 2025 mention the works, and in June 2026 one guest found a large part of the hotel closed.12

  • The garage costs CHF 55 a day, with free electric charging for guests; dogs and cats cost CHF 50 a day.12

Your day

At breakfast

The Rivage Café in the morning

On weekdays breakfast runs from 7am to 10.30am; at the weekend I would come down slowly, until 11am.

At lunch

A short lunch

The Rivage Café serves lunch from 12pm to 1.30pm; I would come early, before going out into the city.

In the afternoon

Something at the bar

From 12pm to 11pm the bar has a menu of small plates; back from the city I would order something there.

At dinner

Back to the Rivage Café

Dinner is served every evening from 7pm to 9.30pm; with Le Chat-Botté closed, this is where the kitchen cooks.

After dinner

A last glass

The bar stays open until midnight, 7 days a week.

On Sunday

Stay for Sunday brunch

Every Sunday from 12pm to 1.30pm there is the Sunday Roast Brunch, free for children under 6.

Beau-Rivage reviews

The reviews cover stays, the Rivage Café and the bar; the counts also include customers who did not stay overnight.

Room service brings meals from noon to 11pm. Le Chat-Botté reopens in 2027.123456

Is there a spa?

Not today: the hotel has no spa, sauna or gym, and offers no massages. Instead it offers programmes with the Health & Prevention clinic in Geneva, a check-up, a sleep analysis or stress management, with samples taken in the room. On 8 June 2024 the Geneva magazine Amoiel wrote that with the renovation the hotel was preparing to welcome a spa with a pool and a gym.123

Is wellness included, and is there a day pass?

With no spa there is no access to include and no day pass. Wellness is in the rooms: the Beau-Rivage Suite has a steam shower, the Maharadja, Sissi, Imperial and Presidential suites a Jacuzzi and a hammam shower, and the Rooftop Junior Suite a Jacuzzi on its terrace, guaranteed with a supplement.12345

Is there a pool?

No, the hotel has no pool today, for adults or children. For warm water in the room there are the Jacuzzis of the larger suites.12

Which room would you choose?

For the lake I would start with the 35–40 m² Prestige Lake View; to have the Jet d’Eau in front, with the 45 m² Junior Suite Lake View Panorama and its balconies. For a family, the Junior Suite Lake View sleeps 3.123

Can I hold a wedding or a private dinner?

Yes. The 130 m² Salon Impératrice seats 126 for a meal and holds 150 standing; the Grands salons reach 278 seated and 450 for a cocktail. Wedding packages cost CHF 160, CHF 210 or CHF 260 per person, with an aperitif, the menu, the cake, wines and a Champagne Deutz toast.12

What do the reviews say?

On Google the Beau-Rivage has 4.7 out of 5 from 1,441 ratings, on Tripadvisor 4.8 out of 5 from 1,081 reviews. On Google 284 of the 321 guests who write about the service praise it; 19 write about the price, and 12 find it high.12

Where do I leave the car?

In the hotel garage, at CHF 55 a day, with free electric charging for guests. Spending at least CHF 100 at the Rivage Café earns a free parking space.123

Where is it, and is it quiet?

At Quai du Mont-Blanc 13, on the right bank, facing the Jet d’Eau; Cornavin station is 7 minutes on foot and the airport 30 minutes away. On Google 11 reviews call it quiet and 2 mention noise from the road: for early nights I would ask for a room on the city side.12

What kind of hotel is it?

A 5-star superior hotel of 52 rooms and 43 suites, classified by HotellerieSuisse, opened in 1865 and run by the same family ever since. It holds 2 MICHELIN Keys and the Swisstainable label at Leading level.1234

What facilities are there?

The Rivage Café and its bar, the wine cellar with its tastings, the Salon Impératrice and the Grands salons, meeting rooms, room service, a concierge and a garage with charging points. Children get a passport of games and their own menu.1234567

What is on for New Year’s Eve 2026?

On Thursday 31 December 2026 the New Year’s Eve dinner has 5 courses, from Black Tiger prawns to veal with Sologne caviar, at CHF 220 per person, taxes and service included, paid when booking. The festive brunch, on 27 December and on 1 and 3 January 2027, costs CHF 145 with drinks.1

Is it open all year?

The Google Hotels calendar has nights on sale in every month from October 2026 to September 2027; it shows no price from 10 to 31 January 2027, from 3 to 11 April, on 21 and 22 June and from 28 August to 7 September 2027.1

At the d’Angleterre I would choose the Bellevue Suite: 70 m² with a balcony on the lake, and the Jet d’Eau in the doorway. There are 45 rooms on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the Leopard Bar has live music 6 nights a week.
