I would choose des Bergues for a central stay with classical rooms or chalet-inspired Lofts; in January 2027, a night for 2 starts at CHF 1,438. For a holiday spent mostly in a garden, I would look outside the city.

Like a regular

Salon Dufour
  1. The room to choose

I would ask for a Four Seasons Room: 36–51 m², a king bed and a table for daytime use, choosing between partial lake, courtyard and city views before settling on the size.

  2. A week in March

For 18 March to 24 March 2027, nights searched separately range from CHF 1,458 to CHF 1,516. The dearest night is 19 December 2026, at CHF 3,378.

  3. The airport limousine

The limousine from the airport to the hotel costs CHF 95: I would keep it for arriving directly at Quai des Bergues after a flight with luggage and little time for transfers.

  4. Swimming with children

With children, I would plan the swim before lunch: the pool, hammam and steam room have 2 children’s sessions, from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, which shape the day.

What Four Seasons Hotel Des Bergues is

Room names make a difference here. A Standard has 24.4–33.5 m²; a Four Seasons Room offers 36–51 m². The suites divide between classical rooms and the Loft collection. Suite Mont Blanc faces the Jet d’Eau, while the 6th-floor suites borrow wood and fireplaces from Swiss chalets. I would decide what I wanted outside the window before choosing how much space to buy.

The Quai des Bergues is outside the door. The hotel dates from 1834 and has 115 rooms and suites, with Rue du Rhône shopping within walking distance. You can also keep the afternoon for Spa Mont Blanc: a 12.5 m lap pool, a separate vitality pool and a steam room sit upstairs. The fitness centre is open 24 hours.

I would give the evenings different jobs. Il Lago serves Italian cooking; IZUMI takes Japanese food towards Nikkei flavours, on its terrace in summer or in the library dining room in winter. Salon Dufour is the place for afternoon tea. Room prices deserve a little planning too: a December night in the saved calendar can cost more than twice a November night.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

At des Bergues, I’d put my bags down and head for Quai des Bergues, right by the lake. Then the rooftop pool and dinner at IZUMI, on the terrace in summer and among the books in winter.

437 guests said so on Google, from 2 June 2023 to 14 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Geneva and nearby Bellevue: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 19 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Geneva and nearby Bellevue:

  • Hotel President Wilson, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Geneva
  • La Réserve Genève Hotel and Spa
  • The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva

Price: for 2, the night of 10 January 2027, from 1,438 CHF on Google Hotels on 19 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

For 12 November 2026 to 22 May 2027, nights taken alone range from CHF 1,254 to CHF 2,154. I would compare dates before booking, keeping an individual-night price separate from a longer-stay quotation.

12 November 2026 to 22 May 20271,254–2,154
31 May to 11 June 20272,094–2,488

Figures are Google Hotels minima for one night searched alone for 2 adults, read on 19 October 2026; room, meals and taxes are unspecified. The calendar stops on 13 September 2027. For the single night of 12 January 2027, Google’s lowest seller asked CHF 1,676 a night, and its listing of the hotel’s own site CHF 1,691 a night.

How I would spend the day

The pool at Spa Mont Blanc

Swim before exploring

Spa Mont Blanc opens 6:30am–8pm. Children have 2 pool sessions: 10am–noon and 2–4pm.4

IZUMI restaurant

Dinner above the roofs

Japanese and Nikkei cooking, a lake-facing terrace in summer and a library dining room in winter: I would keep an evening for IZUMI.8

Il Lago restaurant

The Italian table

Il Lago follows seasonal Italian cooking, with wines from Italy, France and Switzerland.7

Le Bar des Bergues

Stay for a drink

Le Bar des Bergues serves light dishes and cocktails through the day; Salon Dufour is the stop for coffee and afternoon tea.7

Your day

6.30am

Swim above the rooftops

I would begin in the pool when the spa opens, then walk out along Quai des Bergues before exploring the city.

In the morning

Walk past the boutiques

For shopping, I would walk to Rue du Rhône: the boutiques are close enough to reach without taking the car or arranging a transfer.

In the afternoon

Stop for afternoon tea

At Salon Dufour, I would leave time for afternoon tea and pastries, giving the pause some space instead of making another appointment of it.

At dinner

Choose a table upstairs

For IZUMI, I would choose the terrace in summer and the library in winter, with Japanese and Nikkei cooking the reason to head upstairs.

After dinner

Finish with a cocktail

I would save the last conversation of the evening for Le Bar des Bergues, with a cocktail and something light if there is still an appetite.

Before you ask

What kind of hotel is Four Seasons des Bergues?

HotellerieSuisse classifies it as a 5-star Superior hotel, on Geneva’s Quai des Bergues. The building dates from 1834 and now has 115 rooms and suites.139

Where exactly is it, and is the area quiet?

At Quai des Bergues 33, 1201 Geneva, on the lake and steps from Rue du Rhône, the city’s most expensive shopping street. Guests say little about noise: on Google 4 write that it is quiet and that they slept well, while one finds the lobby noisy and always crowded.630

How much does a night cost?

Google Hotels, on 19 October 2026, for 2 adults: CHF 1,515 for 16 November 2026, CHF 1,641 for 14 December 2026 and CHF 1,676 for 12 January 2027. These are individual nights searched separately; the room category, meals and tax basis depend on the selected rate.29

Which room would you choose?

For a few days for 2, I would start with a 36–51 m² Four Seasons Room. Deluxe rooms have 25.5–37.5 m² and partial lake, city or garden views. For the Jet d’Eau, I would consider Suite Mont Blanc.32

How do the Lofts differ from the classic rooms?

The 6th-floor suites take inspiration from Swiss chalets, with wood and fireplaces. The catalogue includes 32.9–45.2 m² Loft Rooms, 45.6–53.7 m² Loft Suites and 73 m² Executive Loft Suites.39

Which rooms work for a family?

For separate bedrooms I would look at the connecting categories: the 95 m² Two-Bedroom Executive Suite for up to 5 adults or 4 adults and a baby, or the 131–138 m² Two-Bedroom Léman Suite for up to 6 adults and a baby. Choose by the exact category and its occupancy limit.3

Is there a swimming pool?

Yes. Spa Mont Blanc has a 12.5 m lap pool and a separate vitality pool, with views over Geneva and the Salève. Pool and steam-room hours are 6:30am–8pm, with children’s sessions 10am–noon and 2–4pm.49

What does Spa Mont Blanc offer?

It covers 2,800 m², with treatment rooms, a double suite, Moroccan hammam, marble steam room and relaxation rooms. Spa facilities open 6:30am–8pm; the fitness centre is open 24 hours.495

Where would you have dinner?

I would keep an evening for IZUMI’s Japanese and Nikkei cooking, on the lake-facing terrace in summer or in the library dining room in winter. Il Lago is the Italian choice, with seasonal dishes and wines from Italy, France and Switzerland.78

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Yes. For New Year’s Eve 2025 Il Lago served an 8-course Italian dinner with live music through to the midnight countdown, and IZUMI offered 2 Japanese menus, one beneath the stars on the rooftop and one indoors, from Oscietra caviar to Kagoshima wagyu tartare. For 31 December 2026 the hotel has so far announced only the festive tea in Salon Dufour: I would look for the evening menus in December.4041

Where is afternoon tea served?

At Salon Dufour, which also serves coffee, light dishes and drinks. Le Bar des Bergues is the other stop for daytime food and cocktails.7

Is breakfast included?

The Bed and Breakfast offer includes breakfast. For other rates, check the booking’s own terms: a calendar minimum identifies neither the meal plan nor the room category.229

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in starts at 3pm and check-out is noon. Booking the previous night guarantees immediate access on an early arrival; without that guarantee, the hotel can store luggage and make fitness facilities available for freshening up.3

Is it open all year?

Yes, it is a city hotel with no season: the Google Hotels calendar has nights on sale in every month from October 2026 to September 2027. A few nights carry no price, among them 31 December and 1 January.29

How do you get here from the airport?

The address is Quai des Bergues 33. The hotel offers a CHF 95 limousine transfer from Geneva Airport; by car it is about 15 minutes, 4.5 km. Road time depends on traffic.6

Is valet parking available?

Yes, valet parking is among the hotel’s services. The airport transfer charge is separate from parking.56

Are Wi-Fi and room service available?

Premium Wi-Fi is complimentary. Room service and the fitness centre operate 24 hours; rooms include a coffee machine.53

What does a wedding cost, and how many guests can it accommodate?

The Glamour package costs CHF 210 per person, including tax and service, with a minimum of 40 guests and a listed capacity of 100. It includes a one-hour aperitif with wine and soft drinks, a 3-course dinner with wine, and wedding cake with a glass of champagne. Full prepayment is due 60 days before the wedding. For larger events, the 310 m² Salle des Nations accommodates 250 for a banquet or 300 for a reception.3031

Who can use the pool, hammam and gym, and can you come in from outside?

Staying here, you have the pool, vitality pool, hammam, steam room and gym, which are kept for hotel guests and Club des Bergues members.32 From outside, the way in is a City Break Program: The Bergues Body Transformation lasts 180 minutes, with an hour of personal training and access to the pool, hammam, steam room and relaxation lounge, and costs CHF 350 Monday to Friday, CHF 400 at weekends. For people who live in Geneva there is Club membership, in 3 forms: Club, Mont Blanc and Prestige.3839

Which stay offers are available?

Advance Purchase offers up to 20% off the Room Rate when booked at least 7 days ahead, on selected dates through 31 December 2027: full non-refundable prepayment and no changes. Geneva Weekend Getaway offers 15% off, with Friday or Saturday arrivals and stays of 2–5 nights, on selected dates through 31 December 2026. Both are subject to availability and blackout dates.3334

If you are still choosing

The pool terrace facing Lake Geneva

Hotel President Wilson

On Lake Geneva’s quay, the President Wilson pairs dinner at Bayview with an outdoor pool for the warmer months. I would start with a lake-facing room.

The outdoor pool in the grounds, with Lake Geneva and the Alps

La Réserve Genève

Here the park runs down to the lake: the outdoor pool sits among the trees, with Lake Geneva and the Alps ahead. I’d bring even the youngest, since La Petite Réserve takes them from 6 months, and keep an evening for Cantonese dinner at Tsé Fung.

At Royal Savoy Lausanne, choose between an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool; Lake Geneva returns to the picture from the rooftop restaurant terrace.

La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich

At La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich I would head up to La Muña: beneath the dome, among exposed beams and lanterns, dinner brings Japan and Peru together.

The Castellan Suite’s rooftop terrace, with plants and Enge’s rooftops

Neues Schloss Privat Hotel Zürich

I would choose the Castellan Suite’s rooftop terrace: plants, a chair and Enge’s rooftops, with the lake a short walk away. This 1930s Art Deco building has 57 rooms and suites; for swimming and saunas, you head outside to nearby Stockerhof.
