At Royal Savoy I would leave time for a swim between Lausanne and dinner: there are 2 pools, and the M2 is 50 metres away. For the waterfront right outside the door, I would look at Ouchy’s front row.

Like a regular

The indoor pool at Spa du Royal
  1. The park-facing balcony

I would choose the Deluxe Park View with Balcony for a green outlook in the morning; after exploring Lausanne, I would leave time for a bath, with a rain shower as the alternative.

  2. The January nights

For 12 January to 18 January 2027, nights searched separately range from CHF 296 to CHF 300. The dearest night is 24 October 2026, at CHF 1,164.

  3. The garage charge

By car, I would budget CHF 40 for 24 hours in the garage, open around the clock; a vehicle taller than 1.90 m uses the outdoor parking area instead of going underground.

  4. The M2 to remember

I would leave the car behind for exploring: Délices is 50 m away and a Lausanne transport card is included during the stay, so the M2 takes you uphill towards the centre.

What Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa is

The Deluxe Park View with Balcony averages 35 m² and opens onto the greenery. The Savoy Executive is in the 1909 building, averaging 30 m², or 32 m² in the separate lake-and-Alps-view category. That would be my first decision: park and balcony, or historic building and the lake. A suite makes sense when you want the sitting room separate from the bedroom.

The spa gives the day an easy rhythm. Heated indoor and outdoor pools, a steam room and a sauna let you spend a few hours in a bathrobe. Children swim between 10am and 6pm, leaving the early morning for adults. The fitness centre is open 24 hours.

For dinner I would head to Sky Rooftop, with Italian cooking and the lake beyond the terrace. Brasserie du Royal follows French cooking and regional produce. Outside, Délices M2 station is 50 m away, and a transport card is included for your stay. The Ouchy waterfront is an 8-minute walk.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

At Royal Savoy, I’d start on the roof: Lake Geneva spreads out below the restaurant terrace. Then leave the afternoon free for a swim indoors and in the heated outdoor pool.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Between lake and centre, guests like the views and nearby transport.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the spacious rooms and comfortable beds.

  3. Staff and service

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the indoor and outdoor pools and the welcoming staff.

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the buffet choice; others report slow service.

500 guests said so on Google, from 12 June 2019 to 17 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Lake Geneva region: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 19 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Lake Geneva region:

Price: for 2, the night of 2 December 2026, from 293 CHF on Google Hotels on 19 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

For 20 November 2026 to 2 April 2027, nights taken alone range from CHF 293 to CHF 356. I would compare dates before booking, keeping an individual-night price separate from a longer-stay quotation.

PeriodCHF a night

3 April to 4 June 2027301–419

Figures are Google Hotels minima for one night searched alone for 2 adults, read on 19 October 2026; room, meals and taxes are unspecified. The calendar stops on 14 September 2027. For the single night of 12 January 2027, Google’s lowest seller asked CHF 300 a night, and its listing of the hotel’s own site CHF 338 a night.

Royal Savoy or Beau-Rivage Palace

For getting around Lausanne, I’d choose Royal Savoy: Délices M2 station is 50 m away. To step from the gardens onto the lakeside promenade, I’d go to Beau-Rivage Palace.

A balcony over the park

An average 35 m², a bath and a rain shower: I would choose this room for time spent inside as well as out.9

Your day

6.30am

Take an early swim

I would swim at opening time, choosing the indoor or heated outdoor pool before getting dressed for a day between Lausanne and the lake.

At breakfast

Sit down at the Brasserie

The Brasserie serves breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am; I would choose when to come down around the first walk, leaving enough time to sit.

In the afternoon

Walk towards the lake

For Ouchy, I would take the 8-minute walk to the waterfront, leaving the climb back towards the upper town for later in the day.

Before dinner

Pause in the Japanese garden

At the Lobby Bar, I would choose a cocktail, or take a coffee into the Japanese garden when the weather invites a little more time outside.

At dinner

Book a table upstairs

I would keep a Tuesday-to-Saturday evening for Sky Rooftop’s Italian cooking; the restaurant is closed from 20 to 22 October, so those dates need another table.

Lobby Bar has a terrace overlooking the Japanese garden, with sharing dishes and light meals noon–10:30pm. For the lake view, I would head to the rooftop.8

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Yes, with a choice of 3 rooms. On 31 December 2025 Brasserie du Royal served a 6-course menu with wines chosen by the head sommelier, the Sky Lounge 5 courses facing Lausanne lit up for the night, and the Lobby Lounge 3 courses, the most intimate dinner. I would keep the Sky for the view. The menu for 31 December 2026 is not out yet.27

The address is Avenue d’Ouchy 40, 1006 Lausanne, in Ouchy’s residential and commercial district. The waterfront is an 8-minute walk and Délices M2 station is 50 m away. A Lausanne transport card is included throughout your stay. Yes. The ballroom, the largest in Lausanne, takes up to 400 wedding guests and 450 standing for a cocktail reception, and the couple’s room for the wedding night is included. From April to September the gardens can be booked for 40 to 400 people for cocktails or a buffet. A wedding menu is put together with the hotel; as a price marker, a festive company evening starts at CHF 160 per person from 50 guests, and the conference package at CHF 140 per person.28822

If you are still choosing

Palace Junior Suite with its Lake Geneva balcony

Beau-Rivage Palace

At Beau-Rivage Palace Lausanne, the Palace Junior Suite opens its balcony towards Lake Geneva. I would leave an afternoon free to enjoy it.

The outdoor pool in the grounds, with Lake Geneva and the Alps

La Réserve Genève

Here the park runs down to the lake: the outdoor pool sits among the trees, with Lake Geneva and the Alps ahead. I’d bring even the youngest, since La Petite Réserve takes them from 6 months, and keep an evening for Cantonese dinner at Tsé Fung.

La Muña beneath the beams

La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich

At La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich I would head up to La Muña: beneath the dome, among exposed beams and lanterns, dinner brings Japan and Peru together.

The Castellan Suite’s rooftop terrace, with plants and Enge’s rooftops

Neues Schloss Privat Hotel Zürich

I would choose the Castellan Suite’s rooftop terrace: plants, a chair and Enge’s rooftops, with the lake a short walk away. This 1930s Art Deco building has 57 rooms and suites; for swimming and saunas, you head outside to nearby Stockerhof.
