A lake-facing balcony and dinner beneath La Muña’s dome: that’s how I’d spend my time at La Réserve. For a holiday spent mostly in a spa, I’d choose a hotel with wellness facilities inside.

Like a regular

Eden Suite sitting room
  1. The balcony to choose

I would ask for a 35–39 m² Prestige Balcony Room for 2: the private lake-facing balcony is guaranteed. I would have my first coffee here, before going downstairs for breakfast.

  2. A November week

For 19–25 November 2026, nights searched separately range from CHF 759 to CHF 811. I would try that week before settling on September and the night of 10 September 2027 at CHF 4,680.

  3. A car and dog

Arriving by car, I would allow CHF 35 per vehicle per night for a courtyard space. With a dog I would add CHF 50 a night, excluding food: both belong alongside the room rate.

  4. The alcohol-free cocktail

Eden Bar’s 50/50 menu gives each cocktail an alcohol-free counterpart. I would keep drinks for 6pm–10pm, when the DJ accompanies the evening, even while the rooftop is closed.

What La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich is

I would first choose between a balcony and a terrace. A Prestige Balcony guarantees a private lake-facing balcony; a Premier Terrace gives you a larger terrace on the 1st floor. A Lake View Room promises the outlook, while outdoor space needs a more specific booking.

Starck brought wood, brick and brass into his imaginary yacht club. The Lake View Suite sits on the 5th floor with fully opening windows and no balcony; the Eden Suite adds multiple balconies and a selection of Swiss ice cream. That detail would win me over.

For dinner I would choose between Eden Kitchen’s Mediterranean-Italian food and La Muña’s Japanese-Peruvian dishes. The season matters most for drinks: the rooftop bar is currently closed, while Eden Bar has a DJ daily from 6pm. Gym and sauna time means going out to Fitnesspark Stadelhofen.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests enjoy the lake views and walking into the centre.

  2. Room

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Design and balcony views draw praise; some guests find little room for luggage and clothes.

  3. Staff and service

309 guests said so on Google, from 8 February 2020 to 5 October 2026. Reviews of stays and dining from February 2020, after reopening in January 2020. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Zurich: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 19 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Zurich:

Price: for 2, the night of 28 February 2027, from 655 CHF on Google Hotels on 19 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

For 25 November 2026 to 27 April 2027, nights searched separately range from CHF 655 to CHF 1,074. I would start with winter dates and keep a balcony as a specific room choice, even when the weather favours staying inside.

Google Hotels minima for one night searched alone for 2 adults, read on 19 October 2026; room type, meals and taxes are unspecified. The calendar reaches 10 September 2027. Booking the 7 nights from 16 to 23 November 2026 together, Google’s lowest seller and its listing of the hotel’s own site both asked CHF 670 a night.

La Réserve Eden au Lac or Widder Hotel

At La Réserve I would choose a Prestige’s lake-facing balcony and dinner beneath La Muña’s dome. I would go to Widder for the Historic Junior Suite’s frescoes, inside the Old Town’s medieval houses.

The balcony to book

The 35–39 m² Prestige Balcony has private lake-facing outdoor space; I would start my room choice here.1

Sharing dishes at La Muña

Dinner beneath the dome

Share ceviche, sashimi and hot dishes at La Muña, on the 6th floor among beams and lake-facing windows.1

With or without alcohol

The 50/50 menu gives every cocktail an alcohol-free counterpart, with a DJ daily from 6pm to 10pm.1

An Eden Kitchen dish

An à-la-carte morning

Eden Kitchen serves à-la-carte breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am; I would choose eggs with rösti.12

Good to know before you book

  • The rooftop bar is closed for the season; La Muña serves lunch and dinner daily in its own indoor dining room.12

  • Fitnesspark Stadelhofen is outside the hotel, with complimentary access restricted to people over 15. Massages take place in your room.1

  • Standard and Deluxe rooms have no lake view; Corner rooms have partial views. I would book the precise category for a balcony or terrace.123

  • Advance Purchase is prepaid and non-refundable; I would settle my travel dates before committing.1

A day by the lake

In the morning

An à-la-carte breakfast

At Eden Kitchen I would sit down between 6.30am and 10.30am for à-la-carte breakfast before heading onto the waterfront.

After breakfast

A lakeside walk

The lake is just outside; I would let the waterfront set the direction of the first walk, giving Seefeld some time before any appointments.

In the afternoon

The sauna nearby

For a sauna and steam bath I would head to Fitnesspark Stadelhofen, with complimentary entry for hotel guests over 15.

At dinner

La Muña’s dome

Beneath La Muña’s dome I would choose the first dinner sitting, 6pm–8.30pm, for ceviche and Japanese-Peruvian dishes to share.

After dinner

A last Eden drink

Eden Bar stays open until midnight; I would leave it the last drink, with or without alcohol.

Comfortable but compact

An excellent location and attentive staff. I found the classic rooms a little small for the price, but very comfortable.

Before booking

Where is La Réserve, and how many rooms does it have?

It stands at Utoquai 45 in Zurich’s lakeside Seefeld district. HotellerieSuisse classifies it as 5-star Superior and lists 40 rooms and suites. Philippe Starck completely redesigned it for its January 2020 reopening; the current catalogue has 10 configurations, including suites connected to a second bedroom.12345

What does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 19 October 2026 for 2 adults, shows CHF 732 for 16 November 2026, CHF 866 for 14 December and CHF 1,074 for 12 January 2027. These are minima for individual nights searched separately, with room, meals and taxes unspecified.1

Is it open all year?

Yes, it is a city hotel open in every season: the Google Hotels calendar has nights on sale in every month from October 2026 to September 2027. Between late July and early September 2027 many nights carry no price yet; the rooftop, by contrast, closes in winter.12

Which room would I choose for lake views?

For a direct view I would start with a Lake View Room, 27–32 m² for 2. For time outdoors I would choose a Prestige Balcony, 35–39 m² with a guaranteed private balcony; the 38 m² Premier Terrace has a larger terrace on the 1st floor. Standard and Deluxe rooms have no lake view, while Corner rooms offer partial views.123456

How do Lake View and Eden suites differ?

The 57 m² Lake View Suite sits on the 5th floor with separate bedroom and living areas, fully opening windows and no balcony. The Eden Suite offers 75–79 m², multiple private lake-facing balconies and a complimentary Swiss ice-cream selection. Both sleep up to 3 guests.12

What would I book for a family?

The 2-bedroom configurations accommodate 4 and connect a suite with a Deluxe Room through a private foyer. The 85 m² 2 Bedroom Lake View Suite has a king and queen bed; the 105 m² 2 Bedroom Eden Suite has 2 king beds. With young children I would confirm how the foyer closes off.12

Where are the gym and sauna?

Guests enter Fitnesspark Stadelhofen free of charge, about 5 minutes from the hotel: 680 m² of gym, 200 m² of studios and 180 m² of wellness, with a mixed sauna, a steam bath and a women-only sauna. Collect an entry badge from reception or the concierge; admission is restricted to people over 15. Nescens massages take place in your room and are booked separately. I would factor in the journey when planning a full spa day. Visitors who are not staying pay CHF 39 for a single entry, or CHF 46 with a bathrobe and sauna towel.12

Where would I go for a swim?

The hotel has no pool or hot tub of its own. For a swim I would cross the road to Seebad Utoquai, the lake baths with a men’s, a women’s and a mixed area: it opens from 11 April to 25 October, and hotel guests get in free. This is open-air lake water, with the hours of a public bathing facility.12

Can I book massages and treatments?

Nescens in-room massages include deep-tissue, relaxation and Thai yoga treatments. Rossano Ferretti HairSpa offers hair and scalp care Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–7pm. I would arrange the treatment alongside the room and confirm the service and price.12

What does breakfast cost?

Eden Kitchen serves à-la-carte breakfast daily, 6.30am–10.30am. The menu lists CHF 25 for Züri Breakfast with eggs, rösti, Gruyère and bacon, CHF 32 for Eggs Benedict and CHF 18 for Bircher muesli. Breakfast is included with Suite Discovery; for other rates I would check the reservation.123

Where would I book dinner?

At Eden Kitchen I would choose Mediterranean and Italian cooking, with an open kitchen and dishes such as paccheri with Breton lobster. On the 6th floor beneath the dome, La Muña serves Japanese-Peruvian sharing dishes, including ceviche, sashimi and hot plates. La Muña opens daily for lunch and dinner; I would reserve even when staying at the hotel.12

Is the rooftop open in winter?

The rooftop bar is closed for the season and announces a return next summer. La Muña is a separate restaurant with an indoor dining room beneath the dome and daily service: noon–2pm, then dinner sittings at 6pm–8.30pm and 9pm–11.30pm.12

When would I go to the bar?

Eden Bar opens 8am–midnight, with a DJ daily from 6pm to 10pm. Its 50/50 menu gives cocktails and mocktails equal billing, with an alcohol-free counterpart to each cocktail. That would bring me downstairs even when the rooftop is closed.1

Is there an offer with transfers included?

Suite Discovery offers a night in an Eden Suite or Lake View Suite at 5% off the Best Available Rate, with breakfast and complimentary transport from Zurich HB and the airport. It requires 48 hours’ notice and lists cancellation 3 days before arrival.1

What changes with Advance Purchase?

Advance Purchase is booked directly through the website, subject to availability, prepaid and non-refundable. It includes non-alcoholic minibar drinks, Wi-Fi, PressReader, VAT and service. I would choose dates I could commit to before booking.1

How do I arrive by car, and what does parking cost?

Arrive by Kreuzstrasse, where the main entrance stands. The hotel’s terms list courtyard parking at CHF 35 per vehicle per night; I would request a space with the reservation.12

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcomed with a bed, treats and bowls; the terms list CHF 50 a night, excluding food. There is also a dog menu and external daycare and grooming; I would arrange those separately, especially for full days out.12

When can I check in?

Rooms are available from 3pm and check-out is by noon. Earlier arrivals or later departures require an advance arrangement; guaranteeing early room access means booking the previous night as well.1

What is planned for New Year’s Eve 2026?

Eden Kitchen offers a 6-course dinner with music, a DJ and live entertainment; La Muña has a 5-course Japanese-Peruvian sharing menu with a welcome drink and live act. Eden Bar stays open until at least 2am, depending on demand.1

Can I hold a wedding or a private party, for how many and at what cost?

Yes, as a dinner rather than a ballroom party: the spaces the hotel offers for events are its restaurants, Eden Kitchen with its open kitchen and La Muña under the dome, Eden Bar for cocktails, and one of La Muña’s 2 rooftop terraces, which can be taken entirely for a private party. With no banqueting hall, I would think of a birthday, a company dinner or a wedding meal for a small group. For a price marker, the 6-course dinner with wines on 6 November 2026 costs CHF 340 per person.12310

What do guests describe?

One guest in a Prestige Balcony describes an incredible room and view; another praises the variety at breakfast. Some people describe small rooms for the price and little space to store clothes. The accounts also include lunches, dinners and drinks: I would distinguish those from overnight stays.12
