For a Zurich break with restaurants and shops on foot, I’d stay at Widder, where a night for 2 starts at CHF 618 in February 2027. If you want to spend your days at the spa, I’d look for a hotel with one on site: here you travel to Alex Lake Zürich in Thalwil.

Like a regular

Black sofas in a Widder sitting room, among wood panelling and artworks
  1. Ask for a suite

I’d ask for a Historic Junior Suite for its 34–59 m², tiled stove and wood panelling. Every suite in this category has a bathtub: I’d leave an afternoon free to stay in the room.

  2. The February price window

For a lower bill, I’d start with individual nights from 12 to 18 February 2027, at CHF 618–668. The dearest nights, 14 and 18 June 2027, reach CHF 1,131 each.

  3. Parking and airport transfers

If you drive, allow CHF 45 a night for the hotel garage. If you prefer a private transfer, airport pick-up starts at CHF 150; the journey from the hotel to the airport costs CHF 120.

  4. The shuttle between venues

Book a table and let the hotel take you there: if you’re staying here, the private boat or limousine shuttle to that venue is free. The service links Widder, Storchen Zürich, Alex Lake Zürich and Restaurant Buech.

What the Widder is

A Historic Junior Suite puts 17th-century frescoes beside your bed, with tiled stoves and wood panelling around you. Passages link the 9 houses, each with its own choice of wood and stone. Choose the Duplex and a second level takes you up beneath the roof.

For a family, I’d settle the beds first: the Family Suite sleeps up to 4 in 53 m², while the apartments give you a kitchen. Monocle Townhouse stretches to over 250 m² and adds a terrace; stairs connect its 2 floors, with no lift.

I’d keep an evening for Widder Restaurant and a drink afterwards at the bar, where you turn up without a reservation. Pick Widder for days in the Old Town and a return to frescoes and 20th-century furniture. If your days revolve around the spa, I’d choose a hotel with one on site: here the gym opens 24 hours a day, and the spa is in Thalwil.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

I’d start with the frescoes when choosing a room. Widder links 9 medieval houses with 49 rooms and suites; in a Historic Junior Suite, 17th-century paintings share the room with your bed.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

398 guests said so on Google, from 31 August 2018 to 11 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Zurich: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 19 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Zurich:

Price: for 2, the night of 12 February 2027, from 618 CHF on Google Hotels on 18 October 2026.

What a night costs, season by season

For a winter break I’d start with February: individual nights between 28 January and 31 March 2027 range from CHF 618 to 761. From 4 May to 12 September 2027 they rise to CHF 844–1,131, so I’d compare the full-stay total before settling the dates.

The lowest price on Google Hotels for one night searched alone for 2 adults; the calendar runs through 12 September 2027. For 7 nights booked together from 16 to 23 November 2026, the lowest seller asked CHF 727 a night; the hotel’s own listing, CHF 752 a night.

Widder or Park Hyatt Zurich

I’d choose Widder for the walk from the station along Bahnhofstrasse to Rennweg. If you drive, Park Hyatt Zurich is on Beethovenstrasse and has overnight parking.
