I would choose the d’Angleterre for a few nights with the lake in front and the evening at the Leopard Bar: from 16 to 27 January 2027 a night for 2 starts at CHF 563. For a holiday built around a spa and a pool, I would look for a larger hotel.

An Exclusive Lake View room, with the bed facing the lake windows
  1. The room on the lake

I would ask for an Exclusive Lake View: 37 m² on average, with a bed of at least 180 by 200 cm and the lake in front. The Classic Queens face the courtyard, so for the view I would skip them.

  2. January nights

From 16 to 22 January 2027 every night costs CHF 563, each taken on its own. The night of 5 March 2027 reaches CHF 1,006; for March I would try a few dates before choosing.

  3. The car with the valet

Arriving by car, I would allow CHF 55 a night for the valet. The car goes to an underground public car park with a 1.9-metre height limit; with a tall van I would find another option.

  4. The boat by the door

The free boat shuttle leaves from just outside the hotel, and the digital transport card covers buses and trams for the whole stay. I would forget about taxis.

What the d’Angleterre is

It suits a couple who want the lake outside the window, the service of a small house and a bar that keeps going late. For the view I would start with the 37 m² Exclusive Lake View: the Classic Queen faces the courtyard.12

There is no spa, pool or gym in the building: guests use the fitness club 50 metres away free of charge, with a sauna and hammam. Anyone planning a wellness day will be happier elsewhere.12

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do d’Angleterre’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the lake outside the door, with the Jet d’Eau and Mont Blanc on clear days.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the classic, well-kept rooms; those in the smallest ones find them tight, and some would like the furniture refreshed.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests remember the staff by name, from the front desk to afternoon tea; one guest has made a birthday here a yearly tradition.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like breakfast facing the lake; those who find it small still say it has everything you need.

  5. Price

Few guests write about the price: those who find it fair talk about the service, those who find it high about the smaller rooms and the tea.

323 guests said so on Google, from 21 October 2012 to 11 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Geneva: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 20 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Geneva:

Price: for 2, the night of 14 January 2027, from 563 CHF on Google Hotels on 20 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

From December 2026 to 27 January 2027 a night runs from CHF 563 to CHF 642, each taken on its own. From 28 March to 13 September 2027 it rises to CHF 660–960; I would choose winter.

PeriodCHF a night
20 October to 30 November 2026619–748
1 December 2026 to 27 January 2027563–642
28 January to 27 March 2027612–1,006
28 March to 13 September 2027660–960

Each figure is the lowest price for 2 adults of one night taken alone, whatever the room. The calendar runs to 13 September 2027; 5 March 2027, at CHF 1,006, is the dearest night.

Still choosing?

The hotel façade at dusk, its sign lit in the Old Town

Hôtel Les Armures

Les Armures is a 17th-century house one minute from St Peter’s Cathedral. Its 32 rooms share the house with Geneva’s oldest café, where the evening means a moitié-moitié fondue.

The lounge with the fire lit and the murals of the city

Hôtel de la Cigogne

At La Cigogne, on Place Longemalle, the lounge fire is lit on winter evenings beneath murals of the city. Its 49 rooms are all different, a short walk from the lake and the Old Town.

An open French window onto the balcony, with the lake and the Jet d’Eau

Beau-Rivage Genève

At the Beau-Rivage I would choose the Junior Suite Lake View Panorama: 45 m² facing the Jet d’Eau, with balconies. There are 95 rooms and suites on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the same family has run the house since 1865.

Il Four Seasons des Bergues sul lungolago

Four Seasons Hotel Des Bergues

At Four Seasons des Bergues Geneva, your day can begin with a swim above the rooftops and finish at IZUMI: on the terrace in summer, in the library in winter.

Hotel President Wilson

On Lake Geneva’s quay, the President Wilson pairs dinner at Bayview with an outdoor pool for the warmer months. I would start with a lake-facing room.

The outdoor pool in the grounds, with Lake Geneva and the Alps

La Réserve Genève

Here the park runs down to the lake: the outdoor pool sits among the trees, with Lake Geneva and the Alps ahead. I’d bring even the youngest, since La Petite Réserve takes them from 6 months, and keep an evening for Cantonese dinner at Tsé Fung.

The Junior Suite Lake View sitting area at InterContinental Geneva, with the lake beyond the windows

InterContinental Geneva

From a Junior Suite Lake View I would look out to the lake and Mont Blanc, with 45 m² for time indoors. This is the international district, convenient for the UN and farther from the centre.
