I would choose Les Armures for a few days on foot in the Old Town, with fondue downstairs: from 23 March to 2 April 2027 a night for 2 starts at CHF 364. Anyone who wants to wake up on the lake will be happier on the waterfront.

A Junior Suite with its wooden wall and blue sofa
  1. The Prestige over the roofs

I would ask for a Prestige: 28 m², a 200 by 200 cm bed and views over the Old Town. The Superior and Single Design rooms have a bed for one person, and for 2 I would skip them.

  2. The week in March

From 23 to 29 March 2027 nights run from CHF 364 to CHF 372, each taken on its own. On 4 and 5 April 2027 they reach CHF 1,908; around Easter I would try other dates.

  3. Holidays without the restaurant

The restaurant closes on 24 December, 25 December, 31 December and 1 January: for those evenings I would book dinner elsewhere before leaving home.

  4. Fondue at CHF 31

At the restaurant the moitié-moitié fondue, Vacherin and Gruyère, costs CHF 31 per person. I would order it on the first evening, after a walk round the cathedral.

What Les Armures is

It suits anyone who wants to sleep inside the Old Town, among stone and beams, and walk downstairs to dinner. I would choose the 28 m² Prestige with its view over the roofs; the Superior and the Single Design are made for one person.123

The Jet d’Eau is 1 km away, downhill, and cars enter only through the automatic bollard on Rue de la Tertasse: anyone with a lot of luggage, or who wants the water in front, will choose the lakefront.12

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Les Armures’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the Old Town outside the door, beside the cathedral; it is harder to reach by car, and it is uphill from the lake.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the rooms of stone and beams, comfortable and clean; those in the smallest ones find them tight.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe staff who help before arrival, with a map for driving in; many go back to the restaurant for the fondue.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like breakfast for the quality of its produce; a few would like more choice.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. Guests are split on the price: those who find it fair talk about the location and the service, those who find it high about the rooms.

388 guests said so on Google, from 14 March 2015 to 19 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Geneva: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 20 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Geneva:

Price: for 2, the night of 25 October 2026, from 360 CHF on Google Hotels on 20 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

From 12 November 2026 to 3 April 2027 a night runs from CHF 364 to CHF 480, each taken on its own; the exceptions are 30 November, at CHF 706, and 2 January, at CHF 926. From 13 April to 14 September 2027 it rises to CHF 372–629; I would look at winter.

PeriodCHF a night
20 October to 11 November 2026360–890
12 November 2026 to 3 April 2027364–480
4 April to 12 April 2027428–1,908
13 April to 14 September 2027372–629

Each figure is the lowest price for 2 adults of one night taken alone, whatever the room. The calendar runs to 14 September 2027; 4 and 5 April 2027, at CHF 1,908, are the dearest nights.

Between the fondue and the Old Town

A fondue on the restaurant’s checked tablecloth

Fondue downstairs

The restaurant opens daily from 12pm to 10.30pm: I would order the moitié-moitié fondue, Vacherin and Gruyère, with the Valais platter.1

The wine bar counter, with orange stools

A glass at the wine bar

The Bar à Vins, between the restaurant terrace and the cathedral, opens Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm to 10.30pm.1

Sauna and hammam

The building at the back holds a sauna, a hammam and a Technogym gym, open daily from 7am to 10pm to guests aged 18 and over.1

Good to know before you book

  • The restaurant is closed on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January: over the holidays, dinner has to be found elsewhere.1

  • Cars enter the Old Town through the automatic bollard on Rue de la Tertasse, and the hotel’s parking costs CHF 45 a day, booked ahead.12

  • The Superior and the Single Design have a bed for one person: for 2, start with the 20 m² Deluxe.123

Your day

In the morning

Sauna or gym

The wellness area opens at 7am; I would use the Technogym gym before heading into town.

At lunch

On the Arsenal terrace

In summer the restaurant opens its shaded terrace at the foot of the old Arsenal; I would have lunch there from 12pm.

In the afternoon

A massage

I would book a 50-minute classic massage at reception, for CHF 170.

At dinner

Fondue downstairs

The restaurant serves until 10.30pm; I would book a table for the moitié-moitié fondue.

After dinner

A glass at the wine bar

After dinner I would stop at the Bar à Vins Les Armures for a last glass.

Les Armures reviews

The reviews cover stays and the restaurant; the counts also include customers who did not stay overnight.

Before booking

What does a night at Les Armures cost?

Google Hotels, read on 20 October 2026 for 2 adults, shows CHF 372 for 6 December 2026, CHF 364 for 21 March 2027 and CHF 436 for 22 July 2027, each night taken alone, whatever the room. Breakfast is extra.1

Where do I eat, and when?

At Restaurant Les Armures, Geneva’s oldest café, open daily from 12pm to 10.30pm: moitié-moitié fondue, Zurich-style veal, raclette in the carnotzet. In summer there is a terrace at the foot of the old Arsenal. The wine bar opens Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm to 10.30pm.123

What is the wellness area like?

The building at the back of the hotel holds a sauna, a hammam and a gym with Technogym machines, open daily from 7am to 10pm. Massages are by Flyspa: 50 minutes cost CHF 170, 80 minutes CHF 245.12

Is sauna and hammam access included, and is there a day pass?

The sauna, hammam and gym are designed for people staying at the hotel, aged 18 and over, daily from 7am to 10pm; the hotel sells no day entry. Massages are booked at reception, from CHF 170 for 50 minutes; a treatment cancelled less than 24 hours ahead is charged.12

Is there a pool?

No, the hotel has no pool: wellness means the sauna, the hammam and the gym. For a swim there is the lake: the Jet d’Eau is 1 km away.12

Which room would you choose?

For 2 I would choose the 28 m² Prestige, with a king bed and Old Town views; with children, the 40 m² Junior Suite, for up to 4 with its sofa bed. The 20 m² Deluxe is the smallest for 2.123

Can I hold a private dinner or a party?

Yes, in the restaurant: the carnotzet has 3 rooms for 60 people in all, the main room for 30, the vaulted room for 12 and the Cervin room for 18. A room is not hired on its own, there is a minimum spend, and group menus run from CHF 50 to CHF 87 per person.12

What do the reviews say?

On Google Les Armures has 4.6 out of 5 from 692 ratings, on Booking.com 9.4 out of 10 from 616, on Tripadvisor 4.7 out of 5 from 560. On Google 138 of the 144 guests who write about the location praise it.123

Where do I leave the car?

In the hotel’s car park, CHF 45 a day, booked ahead. You drive in from Place de Neuve and Rue de la Tertasse, where an automatic bollard opens the Old Town lane.12

Where is it, and is it quiet?

At Rue du Puits-Saint-Pierre 1, in the Old Town, one minute from St Peter’s Cathedral. On Google 16 guests call it quiet; 2 heard the restaurant below their windows in the evening.12

What kind of hotel is it?

A 5-star boutique hotel of 32 rooms classified by HotellerieSuisse, in a 17th-century house; it belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World and holds one MICHELIN Key.1234

What facilities are there?

The restaurant, the wine bar, a sauna, a hammam, a gym and massages, room service, free Wi-Fi and parking booked ahead.1234

What is on for New Year’s Eve?

The restaurant is closed on 31 December and 1 January, as on 24 and 25 December: for New Year’s Eve, dinner is booked elsewhere.1

Is it open all year?

Yes: the Google Hotels calendar has nights on sale in every month from October 2026 to September 2027.1

Are there any offers?

The website has no package running; you can give a night for 2 at CHF 450, or a Junior Suite night with breakfast at CHF 1,000.12

Still choosing?

The lounge with the fire lit and the murals of the city

Hôtel de la Cigogne

At La Cigogne, on Place Longemalle, the lounge fire is lit on winter evenings beneath murals of the city. Its 49 rooms are all different, a short walk from the lake and the Old Town.

An open French window onto the balcony, with the lake and the Jet d’Eau

Beau-Rivage Genève

At the Beau-Rivage I would choose the Junior Suite Lake View Panorama: 45 m² facing the Jet d’Eau, with balconies. There are 95 rooms and suites on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the same family has run the house since 1865.

Il Four Seasons des Bergues sul lungolago

Four Seasons Hotel Des Bergues

At Four Seasons des Bergues Geneva, your day can begin with a swim above the rooftops and finish at IZUMI: on the terrace in summer, in the library in winter.

The pool terrace facing Lake Geneva

Hotel President Wilson

On Lake Geneva’s quay, the President Wilson pairs dinner at Bayview with an outdoor pool for the warmer months. I would start with a lake-facing room.

The outdoor pool in the grounds, with Lake Geneva and the Alps

La Réserve Genève

Here the park runs down to the lake: the outdoor pool sits among the trees, with Lake Geneva and the Alps ahead. I’d bring even the youngest, since La Petite Réserve takes them from 6 months, and keep an evening for Cantonese dinner at Tsé Fung.

The Junior Suite Lake View sitting area at InterContinental Geneva, with the lake beyond the windows

InterContinental Geneva

From a Junior Suite Lake View I would look out to the lake and Mont Blanc, with 45 m² for time indoors. This is the international district, convenient for the UN and farther from the centre.

The Bellevue Suite bedroom, with the Jet d’Eau beyond the balcony door

Hôtel d’Angleterre

At the d’Angleterre I would choose the Bellevue Suite: 70 m² with a balcony on the lake, and the Jet d’Eau in the doorway. There are 45 rooms on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the Leopard Bar has live music 6 nights a week.

Lausanne climbs behind the palace; from the right rooms, the lake appears beyond the rooftops.

Steam rising in the morning from the outdoor sports pool, with frost on the shrubs and the garden, the chalet wings with their wooden balconies on the right and rocky peaks against a clear sky on the left

ERMITAGE Wellness- & Spa-Hotel

In Schönried the brine pool runs outdoors; inside, the Stuben and cake table slow the day.
