Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona
At Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, the indoor pool runs between dark walls and reflections of light, away from the traffic on Passeig de Gràcia.
A week here, month by monthI’d come to alternate Gaudí’s Barcelona with a few hours at the spa, with Casa Batlló a 2-minute walk away. If your days revolve around the sea, look for a waterfront hotel; here, the trip begins in the Eixample.

For 2, I’d look at a Boulevard Suite: return for a glass in the sitting room without immediately retiring to the bedroom. The balcony keeps the avenue part of the evening.
- I’d ask for
- A Boulevard Suite facing Passeig de Gràcia.
- Worth knowing
- The stated maximum occupancy is 3 guests.

Choose the balcony
Only some Deluxe Boulevard and Mandarin rooms have a balcony or terrace. For morning reading outdoors, ask for that space to be confirmed in the booking.
The roof has its season
Terrat’s pool is seasonal. If swimming on the roof is the reason for your stay, confirm the dates with the hotel before booking; the pool’s presence does not promise year-round opening.
A tent for smaller guests
The in-room tipi is intended for children aged 3–8. Board games and a film night with popcorn offer other options; choose with your children’s ages in mind.

500 guests said so on Google, from 15 September 2025 to 26 October 2026. Google reviews since 5 November 2024, within the available sample. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Barcelona: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

More hotels in the guide

El Palace Barcelona
I’d come for a few days of grand-hotel life: breakfast at El Jardín, an afternoon in a suite and a Grand Hall cocktail. If every day should begin with your feet in sand, the waterfront offers a better base.

The Barcelona EDITION
I’d choose it for walks through El Born and the Gothic Quarter, returning for a Punch Room cocktail. If you would rather spend half the day at a spa with an indoor pool, I’d look elsewhere, such as Mandarin Oriental.

W Barcelona
Bofill’s sail on Barceloneta beach: 3 pools, an indoor spa and NOXE on the 26th floor.

Hotel Arts Barcelona
Renovated rooms by the sea and dinner at Enoteca; public-area works through June 2027.

Marbella Club Hotel
Seafront gardens, heated pools, Thalasso Spa and 28 room and villa types.

Hotel Alfonso XIII
A colonnaded courtyard, garden pool and 17 room and suite variants.

Four Seasons Hotel Madrid
Puerta del Sol is close by when you head out; Dani Brasserie waits above the rooftops when you return. I’d come for a Madrid break with late evenings and room to spread out afterwards. For an intimate, tucked-away hotel, I’d look elsewhere.

Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid
The Prado outside, tea beneath Palm Court’s glass canopy on your return: a day at the Ritz does not need much filling. I’d come for museums and dinners planned with care. For a relaxed hotel where you wander about in swimwear, I’d choose elsewhere.

The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid
Breakfast at the Palace comes with a distraction overhead. I would come for the dome and days between the Prado and Thyssen; when booking, I would choose the view before counting square metres.

InterContinental Madrid by IHG
At InterContinental Madrid, start with a practical question: will you use the Club? I would pay for it when breakfast, breaks and work need a place in the hotel. For days spent out, I would start with the room itself.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River
I’d book this for days that leave some time for the hotel: a Cantonese dinner, a drink at BKK Social Club and another swim. If walking between shopping malls is your priority, choose Siam; this stay begins down by the river.

Four Seasons Hotel Miami
For a few days with children in Brickell, I’d start here: the shallow pool is separate, and the afternoon can end in a Palm Grove hammock. If the trip revolves around the beach, choose a hotel in Miami Beach.
