Beneath the crystal canopy, you can also stop for breakfast or a light lunch. The lounge is open from 11am to 11pm.21
Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid’s turrets date from 1910, and you can still sleep inside them.
A week here, month by monthThe Prado outside, tea beneath Palm Court’s glass canopy on your return: a day at the Ritz does not need much filling. I’d come for museums and dinners planned with care. For a relaxed hotel where you wander about in swimwear, I’d choose elsewhere.
Book directIf you picture a four-poster bed, request a Mandarin Room that has one: only some do. The sitting area gives you somewhere to spend time together without booking a suite.

Your choices and answer, ready when you come back.

Deluxe Prado View Room faces the museum; Superior faces the courtyard. Request the view by name so it is settled before check-in.
Valet parking is €30 a day for staying guests. Add it to your quote before comparing a drive with an airport transfer.
Pictura’s indoor bar closes at 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, at 1am on other nights; its terrace closes at 1am daily. A mural celebrating Spanish artisans stands behind the bar.
The address is Plaza de la Lealtad, between the Prado and Retiro Park. Behind the Belle Époque façade, the rooms combine oak floors, marble bathrooms and contemporary artwork. Choose between the courtyard, garden or a museum view: the direction of the window deserves a decision before payment.17

At the Ritz, the outlook deserves as much thought as the category: courtyard, garden and Prado make for different hours in your room.

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the furnishings; size and outlook recur in less happy accounts.
Care during a stay is often remembered; some bar and restaurant visits leave people less satisfied.
Guests enjoy the food and atmosphere at breakfast; some describe waits and mistaken orders.
People questioning the price compare it with what they receive at the table or spa; expectations remain high for a visit lasting only hours.

500 guests said so on Google, from 27 December 2024 to 2 November 2026. Google reviews of the hotel, including visits to its bars and restaurants. Peer hotels may cover different periods. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Madrid: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 3 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Breakfast at the Palace comes with a distraction overhead. I would come for the dome and days between the Prado and Thyssen; when booking, I would choose the view before counting square metres.

At InterContinental Madrid, start with a practical question: will you use the Club? I would pay for it when breakfast, breaks and work need a place in the hotel. For days spent out, I would start with the room itself.

Puerta del Sol is close by when you head out; Dani Brasserie waits above the rooftops when you return. I’d come for a Madrid break with late evenings and room to spread out afterwards. For an intimate, tucked-away hotel, I’d look elsewhere.

Bofill’s sail on Barceloneta beach: 3 pools, an indoor spa and NOXE on the 26th floor.

Seafront gardens, heated pools, Thalasso Spa and 28 room and villa types.

A colonnaded courtyard, garden pool and 17 room and suite variants.

Renovated rooms by the sea and dinner at Enoteca; public-area works through June 2027.

I’d book a canal-facing room at the Pulitzer and leave the afternoon open: take the hotel’s boat out or settle at the bar. If a daily swim matters, The Grand has an indoor pool.

At The Grand in central Amsterdam, you can come back for a swim after a day on foot, then dine at Bridges without putting your coat back on. That would bring me here; for a small canal-house hotel, look elsewhere.

You can run above the rooftops and take tea among tapestries in the same day. I’d come for a Lisbon trip with time to spend at the hotel as well.

At EPIC SANA Lisboa, the day can end in a rooftop pool with Lisbon ahead: I’d come between May and September. You’re in Amoreiras; if you want Alfama’s lanes immediately outside, choose a base closer to them.

Arriving by train, the Barbizon Palace makes for an easy start: put down your bags and you’re already in the centre. I’d choose it for days exploring Amsterdam on foot and a glass at Vermeers Wijnkamer on my return.
