InterContinental Madrid stands on the Castellana, close to Salamanca’s shops.
A week here, month by monthAt InterContinental Madrid, start with a practical question: will you use the Club? I would pay for it when breakfast, breaks and work need a place in the hotel. For days spent out, I would start with the room itself.
Book directThe Junior Suite has an open-plan sitting area, useful when you keep the same hours.

Your choices and answer, ready when you come back.

The Ava Suite adds a kitchen and a second bathroom: useful when you want to have someone over while keeping your private space to yourself.
From Monday to Friday, El Jardín offers a seasonal lunch for €42 per person: an easy pause to put between appointments.
Bar 49 stays open until 2am, leaving the art deco sofas and a drink waiting after dinner elsewhere.
Classic rooms, suites and Club access lead to rather different stays. Start with the hours you expect to spend here: breakfast, a meeting or 2, somewhere to return after dinner.5
Lumina Guide 2027
We choose the hotels of this guide ourselves, one at a time: no one pays to be in it.
How we choose the hotelsA badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.
Here: on Google, 70 of the 79 guests discussing breakfast write positively about it.
70 of the 79 guests who write about breakfast are pleased. 24 hotels of 499 hold it.
Every hotel with this badgeWhat do InterContinental Madrid by IHG’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like having restaurants nearby, though some find the area less convenient for their plans.
6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Less happy accounts mention noise from other rooms and a damp smell.
Club guests remember consistent personal attention across repeated visits.
Guests appreciate the buffet variety and coffee, along with table service.
A brunch visitor can find the cost justified; some staying guests want the rates to be matched by refurbished rooms.

292 guests said so on Google, from 1 March 2026 to 3 November 2026. Google reviews of the hotel, including visits to its bars and restaurants. Peer hotels may cover different periods. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Madrid: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 3 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Puerta del Sol is close by when you head out; Dani Brasserie waits above the rooftops when you return. I’d come for a Madrid break with late evenings and room to spread out afterwards. For an intimate, tucked-away hotel, I’d look elsewhere.

The Prado outside, tea beneath Palm Court’s glass canopy on your return: a day at the Ritz does not need much filling. I’d come for museums and dinners planned with care. For a relaxed hotel where you wander about in swimwear, I’d choose elsewhere.

Breakfast at the Palace comes with a distraction overhead. I would come for the dome and days between the Prado and Thyssen; when booking, I would choose the view before counting square metres.

Bofill’s sail on Barceloneta beach: 3 pools, an indoor spa and NOXE on the 26th floor.

Seafront gardens, heated pools, Thalasso Spa and 28 room and villa types.

A colonnaded courtyard, garden pool and 17 room and suite variants.

Renovated rooms by the sea and dinner at Enoteca; public-area works through June 2027.

Arriving by train, the Barbizon Palace makes for an easy start: put down your bags and you’re already in the centre. I’d choose it for days exploring Amsterdam on foot and a glass at Vermeers Wijnkamer on my return.

Breakfast beneath the Wintergarden’s glass would bring me to the Krasnapolsky even for one night. I’d plan around that morning, then the rest of the weekend; for the intimacy of a small canal house, I’d choose another address.

At Pestana Palace, leave a few hours unplanned. I would come for the garden and for a palace to return to after Lisbon’s hills; if every evening belongs in the centre, allow for the journey.

At The One, head towards Restauradores, then return beneath the palace’s restored ceilings. I’d choose it for a few days away together, leaving an afternoon for the garden and its century-old dragon tree.

A piazza open to Milan, then the former seminary’s loggias and the room you choose for quiet.
