Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam
At Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam, Dam Square begins outside the entrance, with the Royal Palace opposite.
A week here, month by monthBreakfast beneath the Wintergarden’s glass would bring me to the Krasnapolsky even for one night. I’d plan the weekend around that morning; for the intimacy of a small canal house, I’d choose another address.
Book directIs it for you?
For two, I’d choose an Executive Rooftop Terrace Room to open the door and spend time outside. It looks over the city and makes sense if you want some time at the hotel too.
- I’d ask for
- An Executive Rooftop Terrace Room with its private terrace.
- Worth knowing
- The airport transfer on departure is an Executive privilege: check that your rate includes it, as some promotional offers exclude it.

A suite to share
The Presidential Rooftop Terrace Suite has 2 ensuite bedrooms and a terrace with 180° city views. Consider it for a celebration you want to share.
What the suite rate includes
Suite privileges do not automatically combine with promotional offers, packages or negotiated rates. Before comparing 2 prices, check which services remain included.
An earlier arrival
Flexible check-in and check-out for selected suites need at least 72 hours’ notice. With less notice, standard times apply.
What the Krasnapolsky is
The building dates from 1855, but the room makes a considerable difference today: a Deluxe, a square-facing room and a terrace suite are different stays under the same name.1
From January 2026, Executive categories and suites come with dedicated privileges. Choosing one means deciding which services you’ll use during the trip, as well as the bed and outlook.2
The spa offers massages, a sauna, steam room and infrared experience.4

365 guests said so on Google, from 3 May 2026 to 3 November 2026. Google reviews of the hotel, including visits to its bars and restaurants. Peer hotels may cover different periods. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Amsterdam: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 3 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Amsterdam:
- Pulitzer Amsterdam
- Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
- NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace
- Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel

More hotels in the guide

Pulitzer Amsterdam
I’d book a canal-facing room at the Pulitzer and leave the afternoon open: take the hotel’s boat out or settle at the bar. If a daily swim matters, The Grand has an indoor pool.

Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam
At The Grand in central Amsterdam, you can come back for a swim after a day on foot, then dine at Bridges without putting your coat back on. That would bring me here; for a small canal-house hotel, look elsewhere.

NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace
Arriving by train, the Barbizon Palace makes for an easy start: put down your bags and you’re already in the centre. I’d choose it for days exploring Amsterdam on foot and a glass at Vermeers Wijnkamer on my return.

Pestana Palace Lisboa
At Pestana Palace, leave a few hours unplanned. I would come for the garden and for a palace to return to after Lisbon’s hills; if every evening belongs in the centre, allow for the journey.

The One Palácio da Anunciada
At The One, head towards Restauradores, then return beneath the palace’s restored ceilings. I’d choose it for a few days away together, leaving an afternoon for the garden and its century-old dragon tree.

Portrait Milano
A piazza open to Milan, then the former seminary’s loggias and the room you choose for quiet.

Palazzo Parigi
A theatrical staircase in Brera, a hidden garden and a room view you choose for yourself.

Ca’ di Dio
From the Castello waterfront into a sheltered court, with the Arsenale on foot and San Giorgio at dinner.

Excelsior Hotel Gallia
Arrive at Milano Centrale, then see the station from above after a swim beneath the skylight.

The Dolder Grand
Curhaus towers above Zurich, art in the corridors and warm water facing the city.

Lausanne Palace
Lausanne climbs behind the palace; from the right rooms, the lake appears beyond the rooftops.

Hotel de Russie
From Via del Babuino, a garden climbs towards the Pincio and Rome changes pace at the door.
