I’d come to EPIC SANA in summer, leaving an afternoon for the rooftop pool. In the other months I’d choose it for the spa and an indoor swim.

Is it for you?

For two, I’d take a Deluxe Suite: the bedroom is separate from the sitting room, with somewhere to read when you return. A rooftop swim needs a stay during its opening season.

I’d ask for
A Deluxe Suite with its outlook stated in the confirmation.

The bright lobby at EPIC SANA Lisboa
  1. The room upstairs

Deluxe and Premium Rooms have the same floor area. Moving to a Premium puts you on an upper floor with a more open city outlook, without paying for a suite.

  2. Book the cot with the room

A cot for children up to 3 is free on request. Arrange it with the room booking so it’s ready for arrival.

  3. The terrace has a season

Rooftop UpScale opens May to September, 9am to 7pm. The pool is for hotel guests and poolside seats are first come, first served: don’t let breakfast take the whole morning.

What EPIC SANA Lisboa is

Lisbon rewards walking, but this hotel makes room for a pause too. Contemporary bedrooms have large windows, the lobby is tall and bright, and the services suit guests who need to work as well as explore.1

SAYANNA has a heated indoor pool, a sauna and Turkish bath, sensory showers and an ice fountain. Hotel guests can use the gym 24 hours a day, so a workout needn’t follow the spa’s timetable.2

Scale Bar, beside the lobby, serves food from 11am to midnight, including snacks, sushi and vegan choices. If the day runs late, it saves heading out to find a table.3

267 guests said so on Google, from 10 November 2024 to 30 October 2026. Google reviews of the hotel, including visits to its bars and restaurants. Peer hotels may cover different periods. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Lisbon: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 3 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

When a night costs less

A night for 2 costs €155 on 6 August 2027 and €157 on 5 December 2026. For a €2 difference, I’d choose the dates around the trip you want.

The outdoor pool among the trees

Pestana Palace Lisboa

At Pestana Palace, leave a few hours unplanned. I would come for the garden and for a palace to return to after Lisbon’s hills; if every evening belongs in the centre, allow for the journey.

La piscina esterna del The One Palácio da Anunciada

The One Palácio da Anunciada

At The One, head towards Restauradores, then return beneath the palace’s restored ceilings. I’d choose it for a few days away together, leaving an afternoon for the garden and its century-old dragon tree.

Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon

Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon

You can run above the rooftops and take tea among tapestries in the same day. I’d come for a Lisbon trip with time to spend at the hotel as well.

La Cúpula beneath the restored glass dome

The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid

Breakfast at the Palace comes with a distraction overhead. I would come for the dome and days between the Prado and Thyssen; when booking, I would choose the view before counting square metres.

The Club Lounge sitting area

InterContinental Madrid by IHG

At InterContinental Madrid, start with a practical question: will you use the Club? I would pay for it when breakfast, breaks and work need a place in the hotel. For days spent out, I would start with the room itself.

Le facciate dell’NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace

NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace

Arriving by train, the Barbizon Palace makes for an easy start: put down your bags and you’re already in the centre. I’d choose it for days exploring Amsterdam on foot and a glass at Vermeers Wijnkamer on my return.

L’Anantara Krasnapolsky affacciato su piazza Dam

Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam

Breakfast beneath the Wintergarden’s glass would bring me to the Krasnapolsky even for one night. I’d plan around that morning, then the rest of the weekend; for the intimacy of a small canal house, I’d choose another address.

Portrait Milano's Piazza

A piazza open to Milan, then the former seminary’s loggias and the room you choose for quiet.

Palazzo Parigi

A theatrical staircase in Brera, a hidden garden and a room view you choose for yourself.
