Run above Lisbon
Below the RITZ letters is a 400-metre U-shaped running track with views over the city and the Tagus. A morning run needs no route planning.14
At Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon, the pool curves between greenery and red parasols: outdoor swimming runs from May to September.
A week here, month by monthYou can run above the rooftops and take tea among tapestries in the same day. I’d come for a Lisbon trip with time to spend at the hotel as well.
Book directFor a stay together, compare Premier Riverside-View with Deluxe Park-View: the view changes when you open the curtains. Choose the outlook before adding extras to the stay.

Your choices and answer, ready when you come back.

Four Seasons Panoramic View Room sits on the highest floors. Ask about the assigned room’s outlook and terrace: it gives you a reason to return before sunset.
Suite rollaway beds can carry an extra charge. Before paying, request one quote covering the room, beds and breakfast for everyone’s ages.
At Almada Negreiros Lounge, settle in with a book beneath the artist’s tapestries. Looking at something beautiful need not involve going out.
The Ritz opened in 1959 on the hill facing Eduardo VII Park; Four Seasons has managed it since 1998. Twentieth-century Portuguese art and Art Deco influences shape the interiors. Rooms redesigned in 2021 revisit the original 1950s look with current lighting and entertainment systems. This is a substantial hotel worth choosing for the hours between outings, too.16

The interiors are a reason to choose the Ritz when you want a little of 20th-century Lisbon to follow you into your room.
What do Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the area, though some prefer a taxi into the old centre after a day on foot.
Guests appreciate space, bathrooms and balconies; technical problems disrupt some stays.
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Concierge and reception help with young children and special occasions; handling problems draws more mixed accounts.
Guests like the buffet and choice; those who report waits expect an easier start at the restaurant.
The price makes faults and waits harder to accept; guests encountering them struggle to feel the stay justifies the cost.

134 guests said so on Google, from 4 November 2024 to 2 November 2026. Google reviews of the hotel, including visits to its bars and restaurants. Peer hotels may cover different periods. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Lisbon: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 3 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

CURA builds its menu around Portuguese ingredients. For a different evening, IKI has an 8-seat counter and an omakase-style dinner experience. I’d book the table before filling the rest of the day.9
Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 11am. Morning arrivals can leave their bags and use the fitness facilities to freshen up; immediate room access requires booking the preceding night.8

At EPIC SANA Lisboa, the day can end in a rooftop pool with Lisbon ahead: I’d come between May and September. You’re in Amoreiras; if you want Alfama’s lanes immediately outside, choose a base closer to them.

At Pestana Palace, leave a few hours unplanned. I would come for the garden and for a palace to return to after Lisbon’s hills; if every evening belongs in the centre, allow for the journey.

At The One, head towards Restauradores, then return beneath the palace’s restored ceilings. I’d choose it for a few days away together, leaving an afternoon for the garden and its century-old dragon tree.

Breakfast at the Palace comes with a distraction overhead. I would come for the dome and days between the Prado and Thyssen; when booking, I would choose the view before counting square metres.

At InterContinental Madrid, start with a practical question: will you use the Club? I would pay for it when breakfast, breaks and work need a place in the hotel. For days spent out, I would start with the room itself.

Arriving by train, the Barbizon Palace makes for an easy start: put down your bags and you’re already in the centre. I’d choose it for days exploring Amsterdam on foot and a glass at Vermeers Wijnkamer on my return.

Breakfast beneath the Wintergarden’s glass would bring me to the Krasnapolsky even for one night. I’d plan around that morning, then the rest of the weekend; for the intimacy of a small canal house, I’d choose another address.

A piazza open to Milan, then the former seminary’s loggias and the room you choose for quiet.

A theatrical staircase in Brera, a hidden garden and a room view you choose for yourself.

From the Castello waterfront into a sheltered court, with the Arsenale on foot and San Giorgio at dinner.

Arrive at Milano Centrale, then see the station from above after a swim beneath the skylight.
