  1. The tent to request

With children, I would ask for the Family Tent: 265.7 m², with a king bed in the larger tent and 2 queen beds in the smaller one, linked by shared outdoor living space.

  2. A cheaper November run

The 11–14 November 2026 run showed $1,347–$1,406 a night on Google, read on 16 October 2026. The dearest night shown was 21 December 2026 at $11,950.

  3. Taxes and optional tips

The hotel says Costa Rica’s 13% VAT may apply to quoted rates; check the seller’s displayed total. At restaurants and the spa, it suggests a discretionary 10–15% gratuity for exceptional service.

  4. Reserve before you fly

For dining at Ayla or a treatment at the spa, the hotel strongly recommends making reservations at least 2–3 weeks before your arrival at the camp.

What Nayara Tented Camp is

Nayara’s safari-style tents stand on stilts above a hillside that the resort has been replanting with native trees. The reforestation project has brought the forest back to former grazing land, with room for birds, monkeys and sloths. Arenal’s cone supplies the longer view. On the current FAQ, the hotel says specific views and tent placements depend on availability; the photographs show what the setting can offer.

The entry-level Nayara Tent already gives a couple, or 2 adults with 2 children, 157.9 m² / 1,700 sq ft: a king four-poster, 2 daybeds, twin indoor and outdoor showers, and a private pool fed by hot springs. Family Tents join sleeping spaces around a shared private terrace. A Grand Tent adds a kitchen and separate bedroom on the ground level; the 4-bedroom Residences gather a larger family around their own infinity pool and fire pit.

Ayla puts Mediterranean cooking with a Middle Eastern touch beside the main infinity pool. Henry’s Bar has a fireplace and library; La Plaza provides another place to settle with a drink. The dining page also opens the restaurants at neighbouring Nayara Gardens and Springs to Tented Camp guests, naming the adults-only Amor Loco among them. Families can eat together at La Terraza del Arenal and explore the other dining rooms as their age rules allow.

There is plenty to do before you leave the grounds: morning yoga, sloth spotting and a walk after dark to look for frogs. The Nayara Tent’s amenities include daily yoga, a weekly birdwatching tour and a frog tour 2 times a week. For hanging bridges, waterfalls and the wider Arenal region, the camp’s naturalists organise private outings. Wildlife sightings depend on what appears that day.

Breakfast, laundry and the Nayara Tent’s minibar soft drinks make it easy to come back from a muddy trail and stay put. Dinners, private excursions and spa treatments add to the bill. The spa sits in open treatment pavilions among the trees; its linked menu, read on 16 October 2026, lists a 60-minute Nayara Unwind & Relax massage at $180 before tax. Allow time for the pool in your own tent as well as the outings you book.
