3 pools among the palms
The 3 outdoor pools add to the sea. A July 2026 review distinguishes the central pool, another by the suites and a 3rd beside the spa, describing the pool by the suites as adults-only.
Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, sits on the Riviera Maya beach between Cancún and Playa del Carmen: 72 rooms, suites and villas, with Latin America’s first Guerlain spa.
A week here, month by monthFor families with children aged 4–12, the children’s club offers cooking, music and art; Google’s lowest seller showed single nights for 2 adults from MXN 17,471. If evenings mean walking out to bars, choose a stay in town instead.

For 2, I would ask for a Deluxe Ocean View Room if seeing the Caribbean from the room matters more than looking into the gardens.
Each night of 3–9 August 2027, searched alone, showed MXN 17,471–18,265 on 16 October 2026; 28 January 2027 reached MXN 121,362. I would compare those August dates first.
For Cancún airport, the electric Mercedes costs US$190 each way for 2–3 passengers, depending on luggage; the SUV costs US$210 each way for up to 5 passengers, read on 16 October 2026.
Book the spa before arrival, as its guidelines strongly recommend; they invite you to arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment to change. For changes or cancellations, the spa asks for at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid the full charge.
The 2023 reopening kept Maroma’s white buildings and brought Mexican craft into the rooms: hand-painted tiles from Jalisco, woven textiles and heavy wooden shutters. Gardens run up to the doors, and the sand meets the oceanfront terraces. There are 3 outdoor pools, making a day moving between different patches of water easy on foot.
Spend time choosing the room. Deluxe Garden View Rooms measure 31–39 m²; an Oceanfront One Bedroom Plunge Pool Suite has 79–87 m² and its own pool on the terrace. At the other end, Villa Maroma has 370 m², 4 king beds and space for 10.
Casa Mayor starts the day with tacos and quesadillas made to order, then serves Mexican dishes at lunch and dinner. At Woodend, seafood and meat go over a live fire; Bambuco pairs cocktails with Asian-influenced small plates. When the rate includes breakfast, it is served at Casa Mayor. Lunch, dinner and drinks cost extra unless covered by that rate.
The Guerlain spa has 9 treatment rooms, 2 for couples, alongside its water circuit, Temazcal and Melipona bee sanctuary. It deserves time in the itinerary: the Spa Retreat package, for instance, requires 3 nights and includes a 60-minute massage for 2.

The scores come from 130 Google reviews with text, left from 11 September 2023 to 6 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay on the Riviera Maya: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 16 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
