Like a regular

Set tables and tall windows at Cocina de Autor
  1. A terrace towards the sea

For easy walks to the sand, I would ask for an Ambassador Ocean View Suite: 118 m², with a private terrace looking towards the Caribbean and a Jacuzzi.

  2. The late November nights

Read on 17 October 2026, nights from 25–28 November 2026 ran from 17,819 to 18,529 pesos for 2 adults. The dearest shown was 2 January 2027, at 38,313 pesos.

  3. Keep the dinner reservation

At Cocina de Autor, keep track of your reservation: a no-show costs resort guests 850 pesos per person. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours beforehand, so settle dinner plans before that deadline.

  4. Lunch after checking out

On departure day, the pool and beach remain available after the noon check-out. Food, drinks and services used after 12pm carry an extra charge: leave room in the budget for a final lunch.

What Grand Velas is

There are 539 suites in 3 sections: 254 Zen Grand, 195 Ambassador and 90 Grand Class. From Zen, a complimentary shuttle reaches the beach in 2–3 minutes, 24 hours a day. The smallest suites currently sold through the official booking flow already have 110 m²; Family Suites have 2 bedrooms.

Dinner changes character each evening. Cocina de Autor serves a sequence of creative dishes; Piaf has red panels and French cooking, Sen Lin looks to Asia and Frida to Mexico. Food and drink are included in the all-inclusive rate, with selected wines and spirits charged separately. Dinner reservations are recommended.

SE Spa changes the pace: sauna, steam, ice, water jets, hot pools and cold plunges. Its Water Ceremony accompanies treatments of at least 50 minutes; alone it costs 2,353 pesos per day in the 2026 tariff. The main spa welcomes guests aged 16+, while Jungle Kids’ Spa serves ages 5–12.

This is a holiday to spend at the table, in the pools and across its different settings; evenings out add road journeys and transport costs.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 19 March 2023 to 15 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay on the Riviera Maya: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 17 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against on the Riviera Maya:

  • Hotel Xcaret México

  • Rosewood Mayakoba
  • Banyan Tree Mayakoba
